At The Queen in Wilmington, this live painting competition features fast-paced rounds where artists turn blank canvases into finished pieces in 20 minutes. Spectators can move around the easels to watch the creative process up close, then cast votes to help decide each round and the overall champion. Every artwork created is offered in a silent auction, giving attendees the opportunity to take home an original. This all-ages experience is part of a global series that visits more than 50 cities. Seeds Of Recovery Family Fun Day

Delaware families and communities are welcomed for a day of fun, food, and fellowship at First Baptist Church behind William Penn High School, with activities in the field behind the church and convenient parking available. The carnival style atmosphere includes games, prizes, and treats for families to enjoy together, along with bouncy houses for kids and a dunk tank for extra fun. Adults can participate in a corn hole tournament, while music and delicious food add to the atmosphere in support of healing and recovery in Delaware. Organizations, businesses, nonprofits, treatment providers, and churches will host tables with giveaway items and games for the community. Admission is free for children under 14, and others make a $10 contribution to the property fund. Food and water ice are provided by sponsors.

In downtown Wilmington, Serafin Summer Music offers a multi-day celebration of Italian artistry at Grace Church United Methodist, featuring chamber works by Italian composers alongside pieces shaped by Italian culture. The series includes live performances with a livestream option. It begins with a free artist talk and reception featuring Italian concert pianist Francesco Cipolletta and photographer Flavia Loreto, and no tickets are required for this opening event. Concert programs span a wide range, including Menotti’s trio for violin, clarinet, and piano, Piatti’s Tarantella for cello and piano, Puccini’s Crisantemi for string quartet, and Corelli’s trio sonata for two violins with continuo. Sally and Don DeWees shaped it from the ground up over a span of 15 years.

Robert Mitchum stars as Harry Powell, a menacing traveling preacher with tattooed knuckles whose marriage to a vulnerable widow, played by Shelley Winters, hides dark intentions that her children begin to uncover. Known for haunting, expressionistic visuals and sly humor, this American classic also features Lillian Gish and the contributions of writer James Agee, offering a distinctive portrait of the struggle between good and evil. 4th Friday Art on the Town-Feat. Julie Webb

This event spotlights Julie Webb, a contemporary painter and folk Americana singer-songwriter. Born in 1985, she is an alumna of Studio Incamminati, Portland State University, and the Arts and Communication Magnet Academy. She has painted since childhood and is known for contemporary realist oil paintings depicting women at work in marginalized occupations. Her painting Turkish Bath was a finalist in the 4th International ARC Salon Competition. After completing the writing for her debut album of love songs, her visual practice shifted toward abstraction to capture the beauty of nature through plein air painting, bringing to life the themes found in her music. During the summer and fall of 2025 she wrote an album titled Steadfast, How You Love Me. As the seasons changed she continued to express that journey by painting the beauty around her, creating a cohesive cross disciplinary connection between songwriting and painting. Her work draws inspiration from her music, love, and a sense of oneness with nature. Light refreshments will be available and there will be an opportunity to meet Julie Webb.

Independent cinema flourished in the 90s as festivals such as Sundance and Cannes amplified bold new voices and broadened access for filmmakers. This DelArt Film Society program highlights that moment with a screening of Secrets & Lies (1996), which follows a successful black optometrist who reaches out to her biological mother, a white factory worker in East London, after the death of her adoptive parents. The film received the Cannes Film Festival’s Palme d’Or in 1996. Tickets are $5 per person. Museum and movie attendees can purchase a DelArt Film Society ticket along with Museum general admission online or in person, and general admission is always free for members. Fearless Improv Summer Camp

Designed for tweens and teens, this one-week, half-day camp introduces the fundamentals of comedy improvisation, or thinking on your feet, to help build confidence for school performances, class presentations, and everyday social interactions. Through a small, interactive group setting with an instructor, participants practice warmups, improv games, character work, and other collaborative skills. No prior theater experience is needed. The week concludes with a performance for family and friends. Tuition offers an early bird rate of $250 per week, then $300 per week after that. Young Creators Camp | Session I: Inside Out

Young Creators Camp offers two weeklong, full day summer programs for ages 7 to 11 that use creativity to explore identity, share ideas, and build connections. Grounded in current art practices and set within a museum learning environment, each session encourages hands-on making and discovery. The first session, Inside Out, centers on helping young artists uncover and express their own voice. Through work with color, portrait studies, and narrative, participants create pieces that reflect their feelings, thoughts, and personal experiences. An in-depth walking tour explores Old New Castle while illuminating the history and culture of the Black families who lived and worked in the community across generations. The 2026 edition builds on Dr. Melissa Benbow Flowers’ research at the Read House, adding new source materials, a redesigned route with a companion map, and a strong focus on the years 1776 to 1876. Tickets are $25, and capacity is limited, so registration must be completed ahead of time. Participants should be at least 12 years old. Some paths in the historic neighborhoods are uneven and may pose challenges for visitors who require mobility assistance.
