    Free

Prepare for the season with no-cost EKG screenings for student athletes and active youth. Beginning with the 2026-27 school year, Florida’s Second Chance Act requires first-time incoming high school athletes to have a cleared electrocardiogram before tryouts, practices, or interscholastic competition. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, in collaboration with Who We Play For, offers EKG and ECG screenings for children and young adults ages 10 to 21 at no charge to families. Online registration is required and includes access to current dates and locations, with options in Hollywood, Miramar, Coral Springs, and Wellington. An electrocardiogram is a quick and painless test that records the heart’s electrical activity and can help detect certain conditions before symptoms appear. Before the appointment, complete the required online consent form and avoid exercise for at least 20 minutes. A pediatrician’s signature is not needed.
