RF Factor brings its vibrant, horn-forward sound to Arts Garage, reshaping well known songs through a mix of pop, funk, jazz, Latin, and R&B influences. A four horn front line drives the music while dynamic rhythms keep it surging, and the band’s knack for engaging with audiences turns familiar tunes into something new. Precision playing meets showmanship for a performance that is both polished and full of spirit. The ensemble features RF on baritone and tenor saxophones and bass clarinet, Doug Michels on trumpet, Kai Sanchez on bass guitar, Christian Davis on guitar, Pete Wallace on keyboards, Edwin Bonilla on percussion, Aaron Glueckauf on drums, Jason Arkins on alto saxophone and flutes, and Allie Biancoviso on trombone. RF, also known as Ro, grew up in Brooklyn and received her first tenor saxophone from the late James Moody when she was young. After relocating to South Florida, she earned a degree in audio engineering before turning her focus to performing, working with artists such as Jennifer Hudson, Camila Cabello, and Vanessa Williams. She also teaches audio production at Florida Memorial University, an HBCU. Trumpeter Doug Michels was born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, then moved to Miami to continue his music studies and became active in the salsa scene with Celia Cruz, Gilberto Santa Rosa, Tito Puente, and others. That path led him to Gloria Estefan and the Miami Sound Machine, where he remains a member, and his recording credits include Jennifer Lopez and Flo Rida.
