Participants choose a surface from a wide selection of designs, including options like an anchor, crab, flamingo, the state of Florida, mahi, margarita, mermaid, pineapple, sand dollar, seahorse, starfish, or sea turtle, with more than 100 choices available. Tiles come in more than 30 colors, adhesive is supplied, and a wheeled nipper is provided along with guidance on how to cut pieces. Idea cards are available for inspiration, and personal design references are welcome. Grout and sealer are included with clear directions. A take home kit is provided with a choice of white, black, gray, or tan grout plus sealer, and grouting is completed the following day after the adhesive has dried, supported by video and printed instructions. Finished pieces are best displayed indoors or in a covered outdoor space, with only address signs suited for full outdoor exposure. Now in its 37th year, the Cape Coral Farmers Market is a Saturday morning favorite with more than 125 vendors. The heart of the market is fresh, local produce, including certified organic selections, alongside homemade and handmade foods and crafts. Shoppers can find baked breads and pastries, pickles, jams and jellies, seafood from the Gulf, fresh meats, pet treats, artisan soaps, essential oils, local honey, guacamole prepared on site, cut flowers, and native plants and trees. A dedicated food truck area and tent food vendors serve a wide range of choices, from barbecue, crepes, empanadas, Mexican and German street food to kombucha, healthy smoothies, acai bowls, and salads. Each season, space is provided for nonprofits, schools, and community groups. The market also supports access to healthy food by accepting EBT/SNAP. It was the first market in Lee County to make EBT/SNAP shopping easy and to offer Fresh Access Bucks, which add $40 to spend on Florida grown fruits and vegetables. Live music adds to the atmosphere during the season.

Enjoy an engaging day of interactive science, technology, engineering, and math at Southern Fresh Farms. Presented by ISpY Explorers Educational Program in collaboration with Blooming Scholar at Southern Fresh Academy, this free event welcomes K–12 students and their families to explore hands-on stations that spark curiosity, creativity, and problem solving. Make s’mores with a solar oven, craft a sundial, model the water cycle in a bag, try a sink or float challenge, experiment with bubbles, launch balloon rockets, and design small boats, with additional STEM activities available throughout. An open cornhole tournament takes place on the beach in front of DiamondHead Beach Resort. All players are welcome. Entry is $10 and the entire pool goes to the winners. The format features two rounds of rounders followed by a double elimination bracket, with a minimum of four games guaranteed. Shaded tables sit near the outdoor café and additional shade is available for players by the courts, with an outdoor shower and foot-wash nearby. Music fills the café and the courts throughout the day. Cornhole participants receive special pricing on beer and other drinks. Food and beverages must be purchased from DiamondHead Beach Resort, and outside coolers are not permitted. Free parking is available for players. If weather turns, an indoor option is available.

Free backpacks filled with school supplies will be available while they last, limited to one per child and children must be present. Body art specials are featured, including basic single hole piercings for $35, dermals for $40, basic 3x3 tattoos for $40, and permanent jewelry deals offered throughout the day. Expect raffles, freebies, and surprise moments, plus an open community pantry offering food and clothing for families in need. Donations of school supplies and pantry items are welcome, and each school supply donation earns entries into a large giveaway with prizes from Southwest Florida businesses. Clothing donations are already abundant, so the greatest needs are school supplies and pantry goods. The team is also seeking a barber to donate haircuts for students and a face painter to volunteer for children, with vendor updates to come. The spirit of the day centers on neighbors supporting neighbors so children head back to school feeling ready and cared for.

Summer Camp: Young Florida Naturalists
Curious kids can step into the role of Junior Naturalist while exploring Lovers Key State Park. Activities in the park’s coastal habitats invite participants to search for natural treasures, learn about native plants and wildlife, and take part in games and hands-on exploration. Designed for ages 8 to 12, this weeklong summer camp meets at the Welcome & Discovery Center at Lovers Key State Park. Space is limited, and reservations are required. Price is $300.
SBDAC Creative Academy 🏛️ Culinary Arts Summer Camp 👩🏽🍳 Ages 13-17
Week II of SBDAC’s Culinary Arts Camp invites aspiring chefs ages 13 to 17, grades 7 to 12, to spend a week immersed in the culinary world. Under the guidance of Chef Nathalia Small and through a partnership with Luminary Hotel Co., participants develop skills in kitchen techniques, plating and presentation, food science, and creative menu design. Learning takes place at the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center and within Luminary’s Culinary Theater and commercial kitchen, offering an inside view of real hospitality operations. Throughout the week, campers engage in behind-the-scenes experiences focused on culinary service, scratch preparation, refined plating, and the pace of professional hospitality. Students also blend artistic mediums into their planning and photograph their dishes to begin building a portfolio of completed work. Before and after care is available for an additional charge. Students should bring their own lunch and a water bottle each day.

Each visit features a 30-minute snuggling session, then time to explore the ranch where guests can feed donkeys, hold chickens, and browse the gift shop. The Americana Community Music Association partners with Island Hopper to present an in-the-round evening at The Sidney Berne Davis Art Center that spotlights some of the area’s finest songwriters. All performers are ACMA members, reflecting the Fort Myers nonprofit’s commitment to original music throughout the year. On stage, Roy Schneider, Anthony Wayne, Bill Metts, Tim McGeary, and Matt Hannam share their own songs along with the stories behind them. Roy Schneider, a founding member of the Americana duo Reckless Saints, has toured his original music across the United States and abroad for more than two decades, earning three selections as a NewFolk finalist at the Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, appearing on season 5 of NBC’s The Voice, and placing at the Telluride Acoustic Blues competition in Colorado. In April he and Reckless Saints partner Kim Mayfield released the album Blue Twangled Folk’n’ Roll. Anthony Wayne is a Southwest Florida singer songwriter whose roots rock and Americana blend memorable hooks with candid storytelling. Originally from Indiana and now a longtime Fort Myers Beach resident, he has spent nearly two decades performing along the Gulf Coast while releasing new recordings and music videos. Bill Metts, inspired by the 1960s country blues revival, is known for fingerstyle guitar and has performed at the Mississippi John Hurt Blues Festival, Ground Zero in Clarksdale, the Will McLean Festival in Brooksville, and multiple editions of the BMI sponsored Island Hopper Songwriter Festival. He hosted the ACMA’s weekly Songwriter Circle for four years and favors original material. Tim McGeary from Naples signed with A&M Records in the 1980s, toured with Billy Idol, Duran Duran, Simple Minds and others, and has song placements on television shows including Smallville and One Tree Hill as well as films such as The Kiss Me Curse and Girl Got Mo. He now writes for other artists and produces songs from around the world, highlighting music’s power to bring people together. Matt Hannam lives in Fort Myers and has performed solo, as part of the duo Another Era, and with the five piece band The Collective. An ACMA member since the organization’s founding year, he is also involved with the Hope by Song organization. The celebration continues with community activities and post-race fun.
