Stiltsville & Key Biscayne Sunset Cruise
HistoryMiami Museum’s resident historian, Dr. Paul George, leads a narrated cruise through Biscayne Bay that explores the history of Stiltsville, a cluster of colorful wooden houses built on the bay’s flats within Biscayne National Park. During the 1940s through the 1960s, the area was a playground for the wealthy and well connected, home to places like Crawfish Eddies and the Bikini Club, and the story continues with how the once lively community on stilts dwindled to the seven houses that remain. As the cruise passes the Cape Florida Lighthouse, Key Biscayne, and the City of Miami, Dr. George shares tales of gangsters, striking graffiti, and unforgettable parties. The ongoing preservation of the remaining houses by Biscayne National Park and the Stiltsville Trust is highlighted. Water and soda are included in the ticket price, and additional light snacks and beverages are available for purchase from Island Queen Cruises.
