The Shark is Broken

The Shark is Broken offers a witty behind-the-scenes look at the making of Jaws, long before anyone realized it would redefine the summer blockbuster. Co-written by Ian Shaw, son of Jaws star Robert Shaw, and Joseph Nixon, this comedy revels in on-set tempers, foul weather and a finicky mechanical shark that keeps stalling progress. At its heart are Robert Shaw, Richard Dreyfuss and Roy Scheider, sparring, sharing drinks, making bets and counting the days, all while building a prickly sense of camaraderie. Their clashes and unlikely bonds create a funny and tense portrait of a production teetering between disaster and destiny, headed toward a place in movie history they cannot yet imagine. Presented at Actors' Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre.

Big Feelings (Reactivity) Group Dog Training Class

Big Feelings is a small-group training class created for dogs that struggle with reactivity and sensitivity. It is a good fit for dogs that bark or lunge on leash, become overstimulated by dogs, people, bikes, or movement, have trouble staying calm in public places, or shut down, freeze, or panic outside. This is not a free-for-all social session. Group size is intentionally limited so each dog can work safely, stay under threshold, and build confidence at a comfortable pace. Instruction focuses on improving leash handling, recognizing a dog’s threshold before reactions escalate, using practical coping strategies for reactivity, building engagement and focus around triggers, and developing real-world handling skills that translate to everyday walks. The goal is to help dogs and their handlers feel calmer, safer, and more confident together. The cost is $75 per dog. Proof of up-to-date rabies vaccination is required. Dogs remain leashed at all times and will be carefully spaced for safety and success. Capacity is very limited due to the hands-on format.

U CAN 2 Slot Pull

A friendly slot pull takes place aboard the Royal Carribean Anthem of the Seas. Look for the host near the stairs, identifiable by a hat featuring the Texas flag, to find the group. Entry is $25 per person, cash only, collected at sign-in. Of that, $20 per person is pooled and loaded into the machine at once and remains in play until the final spin. Each participant takes four spins in two rounds of two while the host records results, and everyone who pays receives a raffle ticket for a prize drawing. The remaining $5 per person forms a side pot that is awarded to the top spinners based on the number of entrants. For example, with ten entrants the top spinner would receive $50, and with fifteen entrants the top two would split $50 and $25. After all spins, any credits left in the machine are split evenly, rounded down, unless everyone agrees to keep spinning, and any extra change is tipped to the bar staff. If a jackpot exceeds $1,200, the host completes the 1099 and withholds 25 percent for taxes, then the balance is shared evenly. The host’s player card tracks the wins, the casino cashier issues payouts, and participants must be present at the end to receive any winnings.

Make friends & BlaBla Language Exchange Miami - Every Other Tuesday - Recurrent event -

BlaBla & Make Friends brings a relaxed language exchange and social mixer to Veza Sur Brewing Co in Miami. The gathering focuses on conversation and connection without a rigid format, so people circulate and chat rather than sit at assigned tables. English and the local language lead most conversations, and those interested in other languages can speak with an organizer or connect with attendees who share the same goal. A conversation-partner matchmaking option is available for anyone who wants help pairing up. The organizer asks guests to register in advance on the website. Per venue policy, each attendee is expected to purchase at least one drink on arrival, and outside food or beverages are not allowed. Courtesy toward staff and keeping the space tidy are appreciated, and a respectful, positive atmosphere is required. Not following the guidelines can result in a ban without prior notice. Event photography and video are common. Anyone who prefers not to be captured can let the photographer know, and personal belongings should be kept secure by their owners. Those who wish to contribute can get involved as event organizers or as photographers and videographers. The organizer also notes that a single online listing is reused and updated shortly after the start time, so posted dates and attendance numbers on that listing may not reflect the actual event.
