The 5th Annual Volusia County Out of the Darkness Walk brings together a caring community focused on suicide prevention and awareness. Suicide ranks as the 11th leading cause of death in the United States, and meaningful prevention begins with understanding. Routes span roughly one to three miles and are noncompetitive. The program features an opening ceremony, activities centered on hope and healing, resource tables with information, and complimentary honor beads for all participants.

Little Lagoonys: Monthly Programs

Little Lagoonys welcomes children ages 3 to 5 with an accompanying adult for monthly, school-year sessions that spark curiosity about Florida’s coastal ecosystems. Guided by a hands-on curriculum, each meeting features outdoor exploration, animal observations, creative crafts, stories, and games that introduce the basics of doing science. The cost is $8 per person. Cancellations made at least 24 hours in advance are eligible for a refund. Sandspur Riding Club 3rd in Series

At Sandspur Riding Club, this show features a text-in and a practice night is planned. It carries NIH/OHI approval and offers a 70/30 payout for SRC, with $250 added if over 50 riders. Divisions include Open 4D at $30, Youth 2D at $20, Adult 2D at $20 with carryover only, Poles 2D at $20, and a T-shirt sidepot 2D for $20 that goes toward the award. For younger competitors, PeeWee 2D is $10 for ages 8 and under, and PW Poles 2D is $10 for ages 8 and under. A $5 non-member fee applies. Memberships will be available at the show and during practice nights. The club is seeking sponsors and added money support, and there is a Fall Series. Candlelight: A Haunted Evening of Halloween Classics | Daytona

Enjoy a candlelit evening of Halloween-inspired music at the Brannon Center, where the Listeso String Quartet performs a spine-tingling program in an intimate, multi-sensory setting. The repertoire features favorites such as Thriller, Gounod’s Funeral March of a Marionette, a movement from Shostakovich’s String Quartet No. 8, the theme from The Exorcist, the Stranger Things and Beetlejuice themes, The Addams Family and Halloween themes, Bernard Herrmann’s Prelude from Psycho, Ghostbusters, Saint-Saëns’ Danse Macabre, Mussorgsky’s Night on Bald Mountain, Time Warp from The Rocky Horror Picture Show, and a medley from The Nightmare Before Christmas.
