The Art of Rest: A Journey Through Movement, Stillness & Sound

This restorative workshop creates space to slow down through a blend of gentle movement, guided stillness, and immersive sound. It is intended to ease physical tension, quiet a busy mind, and support reconnection with yourself. The experience begins with soft, accessible movement to settle the body and focus the mind. It then transitions into Yoga Nidra, often called yogic sleep, a guided meditation that invites deep rest while maintaining relaxed awareness. Throughout, sound therapist Cat Laiacone offers the calming tones of crystal singing bowls and chimes, shaping a soothing atmosphere that encourages relaxation, presence, and renewal. Instruction is led by yoga and meditation teacher, author, and speaker Krista Oakes, who has more than two decades of experience helping people reduce stress and find ease through gentle yoga, mindfulness, and meditation. Cat Laiacone, a wellness coach and certified life coach through the International Coaching Federation with additional training in sound healing, art therapy, Reiki, and breathwork, provides the live sound component. This workshop accommodates a range of abilities. Participants may practice on a yoga mat, in a chair, or a combination of both, and no previous experience with yoga, meditation, or sound healing is required. Attend in person in Port Orange in an intimate setting limited to 14 participants for the fullest immersion in live sound, or take part live online via Zoom from home. Online participants receive the complete gentle movement and Yoga Nidra guidance, while audio quality of the sound elements may vary. Pricing is $55 for the in-person option and $35 for the online option. Important considerations include consulting a physician if you have a pacemaker or metal medical implants since sound vibrations can interact with certain devices, and optionally removing or turning off hearing aids during the sound portion to prevent feedback or discomfort. The intention is that participants leave feeling calmer, lighter, and more rested.

Mythical Creatures & Magical Worlds Summer Art Camp

A week-long summer art camp invites young artists to build fantastical worlds through hands-on creativity. Designed for ages 6–11, the experience blends sculpture, drawing, and imaginative design to nurture confidence, problem solving, and self expression. Throughout the week, campers sculpt mythical creatures in clay, from dragons to original inventions, paying close attention to texture and expressive detail. They chart their own fantasy maps with labeled realms, woodland areas, and other enchanted landmarks. They also craft wands or amulets using materials such as cardboard, foil, beads, and paint, and explore basic paper mechanisms to create pop-up castles or enchanted forests that open into lively, three-dimensional scenes. The Hub on Canal hosts the camp in a welcoming, inclusive setting that celebrates imagination. Participants are encouraged to think big, spin stories, and proudly share the worlds they create. Open to students entering grades 1–6. The camp fee is $175. Registration is nonrefundable. If a child cannot attend, the fee will be treated as a donation to The Hub on Canal and directed to future student scholarships. For arrival and dismissal, a parent or legal guardian must sign children in and out each day. Please give advance notice for any early or late drop-off or pick-up, provide the full names of all authorized adults, and note that anyone other than a parent or guardian will need a valid photo ID at pick-up.
