OK Corral Gun ClubAdvanced Defensive Handgun Level One (ADH1)
Advanced Defensive Handgun Level One (ADH1) is an advanced defensive pistol course focused on applying core skills under real stress. It bridges the gap between routine range practice and the demands of a life or death encounter, helping shooters run their handgun effectively when pressure is high. Training covers combative stance and body positioning, an efficient draw and safe reholstering, grip refinement, trigger control and reset, and managing recoil. Participants work with two handed sighted shooting, subconscious sight picture, and point shooting, engage multiple threats, move off the line, and shoot while advancing and retreating. Additional instruction addresses dominant eye and hand solutions, equipment considerations, understanding line of sight in dynamic environments, emergency and tactical magazine changes, and how to recognize and work with the body’s physical and psychological reactions during confrontations. The course runs 7.5 hours. The cost is $300 and includes range fees, targets, lunch, drinks, and merchandise. This class is intended for experienced shooters who are fully comfortable operating on their own at a static range and who know their chosen handgun to an unconscious competency level. Students should have fired at least 1,000 rounds through the firearm they will use, with a minimum of 500 rounds within the past year. Required skills include confidently loading and unloading, clearing basic malfunctions, and, for semi automatic handguns, locking the slide to the rear. A firm grasp of firearm safety rules and range etiquette is expected. Training involves drawing from a holster and shooting while moving next to others without barriers, so mental and emotional readiness for close proximity work is essential. A concealed weapons license or a recent criminal background check is required. Preregistration through Florida Firearms Training is required.
