Loaves and Fishes Fort Pierce, a 501(c)(3) charity, provides a free community meal for neighbors experiencing homelessness or food insecurity in the Fort Pierce area. Meals are served under a covered carport, and during the gathering a no-cost commissary is available with clothing, outdoor living essentials, and personal hygiene items. This support is made possible through donations from REACH Community Church and the St. Lucie County community.

The 4th Annual Pelican Yacht Club Turkey Trot 5K welcomes the community for a festive run in support of Jaycee Park and the local running community. Pelican Yacht Club opens its doors to the public for a trot and toast, with drinks and snacks provided at the club. The course showcases South Hutchinson Island as participants pass through eclectic neighborhoods, reach Ocean Boulevard, jog the jetty, and return to the Pelican Yacht Club to finish. This advanced defensive handgun course in Okeechobee, FL focuses on applying pistol skills under pressure and bridging the gap between routine range practice and real defensive encounters. Training covers a solid fighting stance, an efficient defensive draw, disciplined trigger work, recoil control, engagement tactics, and practical point shooting. Across 7.5 hours, participants develop a strong defensive mindset while reviewing equipment choices, refining grip, addressing eye and hand dominance, adopting combat-ready body positioning, and learning how to work with the body’s natural stress responses. Instruction includes two handed sighted fire, building an intuitive sight picture, point shooting with two hands, moving off the line of attack while shooting forward and backward, performing emergency versus tactical reloads, using trigger reset effectively, prioritizing and engaging multiple threats, and an introduction to additional combative techniques. The cost is $300 and includes range fees, targets, lunch, drinks, and merchandise. Preregistration through Florida Firearms Training is required. This class is intended for experienced shooters who are comfortable working independently on a static range and who have fired at least 1,000 rounds through the handgun they will use, with 500 of those within the past 12 months. Participants must know how their firearm operates and be able to load, unload, and show clear without assistance. Those who struggle with basic handling or clearing malfunctions should seek additional preparation before attending. Users of semi automatic pistols must be able to lock the slide open and clear stoppages. A firm grasp of core safety rules and range etiquette is mandatory, as is the ability to handle the stress of drawing from a holster and moving while shooting alongside others without barriers. A concealed weapons license or a recent criminal background check is required. Private training can be arranged in advance for anyone needing help to meet the prerequisites.
