📰 In the news
Honoring a reef pioneer: On Nov. 18, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sank the 227-foot Borocho to create the Boo McCulley Reef off St. Lucie Inlet, expanding habitat and a fishing corridor — get all the details.
Celebrating impact and continuity: Pete Tesch, longtime St. Lucie EDC president, is moving to senior advisor as Wes McCurry becomes CEO and Rachel Savela steps into COO, following a celebratory roast at Crane Club — get all the details.
Promising water quality experiment: TCPalm’s Giving Days spotlights the Lake Okeechobee Restoration Initiative as scientist Joe Gilio tests bacteria and a salt treatment to trap phosphate, clear water, curb algae blooms, revive seagrasses — see how to donate.
Protect your nest egg: Savvy investors are turning to gold amidst today’s inflation, national debt, and market uncertainty for a reason. It holds its value when everything else feels shaky. Case in point: it’s up ~62% since January. If you’re curious about adding it and other precious metals to your portfolio, American Hartford has a super helpful guide that covers everything you need to know. It’s free, and definitely worth a read — check it out here.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.

🫶 We got your back
Dance into the holidays: Get in the holiday groove at Noche Buena this Friday, Dec. 19, 5-9 p.m., on The Port District’s Event Lawn. Expect a festive set from Grammy-nominated Latin rocker Elsten Torres, plus Latin food trucks and the dazzling PSLinLights walk. Admission is free. Bring a new unwrapped toy for Toys for Tots. Get all the event details.
City collection changes ahead: Port St. Lucie’s holiday trash schedule: no pickup on Christmas Day (Thu, Dec 25). Thursday routes move to Fri, Dec 26 and Friday routes to Sat, Dec 27. The drop-off center is closed Dec 25 and 26, reopens Dec 27, and the Cameo Blvd site permanently closes Jan 5, 2026. Only July 4, Thanksgiving, and Christmas affect pickups. Get collection dates and rules.
Movie night, but comfier: Trade your couch for luxury recliners, reserved seats, in-theater dining, and a full bar at Sabal Palms 6 at Touchstar Cinemas. It’s our reliable pick for an easy, local night out that still feels like a small upgrade, minus the big-chain vibe.
Hear me out: My mom’s been asking people to repeat themselves 5,281 times too many for years. She always avoided hearing aids like the plague — they’re clunky, obvious, expensive, not really worth it. I always thought “she’s not wrong” until I saw these new invisible hearing aids going viral. In the same boat? Now’s a great time to check them out before unused health benefits expire on the 31st.
Thinning hair? Same: I’ve been shedding a lot, and recently noticed my ponytail feeling thinner. After way too much panic-Googling, I discovered Keranique’s hair regrowth system. Everything with them is surprisingly easy: no quizzes, no pills, no choosing between dozens of products. Just grab the kit and follow the instructions. The best part? It’s $75 off right now + you’ll get your money back if you don’t love the results.
