DYE PAINT YOUR IMAGES / BRING THEM TO LIFE WITH QUILTING with Hollis Chatelain

Work alongside Hollis Chatelain in a hands-on workshop that begins with painting imagery on cotton using Procion dyes, then shifts to quilting to enhance the finished surface. Learn to control the dyes for clean edges and confident color, practice blending and layering, and explore special effects so your results can be as intricate as a portrait or as simple as a single expressive line. Please bring two or three original designs sized about 18 by 20 inches, prepared as black and white line drawings ready to transfer to fabric. Subjects can include fruit or other rounded forms, still life arrangements, animals, faces, or any image you want to paint, and having a plan for color choices is helpful. After painting your cloth, discover how quilting can deepen the impact of your work. Use stitch lines to build depth, texture, tension, and shadow for a more dimensional look. Draw on inspiration from nature, architecture, or technology to shape your linework, and see how even straight lines can become a strong design element. The instruction centers on free motion machine quilting, with design approaches that can be adapted for hand quilting. Experience with either free motion or hand quilting is required.

Best of Broadway: Andrew Lloyd Webber & More

At The Lyric Theatre, a sweeping program of Andrew Lloyd Webber showstoppers and other Broadway favorites welcomes fans of musical theatre, classical sounds, and rock. International countertenor Terry Barber and award-winning performer Shelley Keelor lead the evening with fresh interpretations of signature songs from CATS, Jesus Christ Superstar, Evita, Aspects of Love, Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Les Miserables, Chicago, Hamilton, The Phantom of the Opera, and more. Barber, a former member of the multiple Grammy Award winning ensemble Chanticleer, is an eight-time Grammy nominee for his solo album Reimagined: Mercury. He has performed in 17 languages and appeared as a soloist at premier venues including the Metropolitan Opera, Carnegie Hall, London’s Queen Elizabeth Hall, and Moscow’s Svetlanov Hall. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution has praised his star power. Keelor, a Silver Palm and Carbonell award recipient, is an actor, singer, and international soloist whose leading credits include Snow White in Disenchanted, Trish in Kinky Boots, and the Beggar Woman in Sweeney Todd. The performance also features soprano Sydney Carbo, with Brandon Glick at the piano, Rick Kissinger on multiple reeds, and Ian Wilkinson on violin. Florida performances will also include dancers from Preston Contemporary Dance Theatre. The staging includes a replica backdrop of the Paris Opera House, the Palais Garnier, a setting tied to the Phantom of the Opera legend and the historic chandelier fall more than a century ago, with that dramatic episode staying firmly in the past. Look forward to an evening of well-known show tunes performed by distinguished voices and a versatile ensemble.

Later in the night, a fire circle opens for experienced fire spinners after a required fire safety briefing. Anyone intending to spin fire needs to attend that briefing and complete a waiver beforehand. It offers something different to do in Stuart for those curious about flow arts or interested in connecting through movement.

Floating on Sound - with Nikki Oakerson

Guest teacher Nikki Oakerson leads a sound bath meditation designed to invite deep stillness through resonant sound. Settle into an aerial hammock for a floating experience or rest comfortably on a mat, depending on what feels best. Crystal singing bowls and other soothing instruments create gentle vibrations that encourage you to turn inward. These calming frequencies can help move energy, regulate the nervous system, and quiet the mind as the body releases tension. There is nothing to do but receive. This practice welcomes both newcomers and experienced meditators, offering a soft yet effective way to reconnect with yourself. Many describe the experience as a reset that brings a sense of balance, ease, and clarity. The immersive soundscape supports natural rhythms and may help realign energy centers, leaving you grounded and nourished. The aerial hammock option is $40 with limited space, while a floor spot with supportive props is $35. Early reservations are encouraged. Pure Prairie League

Pure Prairie League brings a storied slice of American country-rock to the stage, tracing a legacy that began in the mid 1960s when friends in Columbus, Ohio started out playing covers and chose a name inspired by a 19th century Temperance Union referenced in the 1939 Errol Flynn film Dodge City. Their self-titled debut, adorned with a Norman Rockwell Saturday Evening Post image that introduced the cowboy mascot Sad Luke, is widely associated with country-rock’s early rise. The momentum continued with the multi-platinum Bustin’ Out and its enduring favorite Amie, followed by Two Lane Highway, which welcomed contributions from Chet Atkins, Emmylou Harris, and Johnny Gimble. The band notched five straight Top 40 albums in the 1970s and added another in the 1980s, with songs such as Two Lane Highway, Let Me Love You Tonight, and Early Morning Riser helping define their sound. Today’s lineup features founding pedal-steel stylist John David Call alongside bassist Mike Reilly, drummer Scott Thompson, and guitarist Donnie Clark. Decade after decade, they continue to tour, performing the music with the character and clarity fans know from the records, and their influence can be heard in artists like Keith Urban, Nickel Creek, Wilco, and Counting Crows. This performance offers a warm survey of a catalog that has connected generations of listeners, delivered by a seasoned band that stays true to its roots.

TAE & The Neighborly

TAE & The Neighborly began with a kitchen story. During the early pandemic, neighbors in a five story Wisconsin building who loved to bake kept borrowing sugar, then decided to move in together to share ingredients. Before long, the rhythms of baking led to making music. Formed in 2020, the group of Andy Welsch, Daniel Pingrey, William Deblaey, and Kelvin Kaspar crafts a spirited mix of soul, R&B, pop, and rock that highlights TAE’s singular voice. Their debut album, Self Help, arrived in 2024. TAE, a Green Bay native and a writer, singer, and guitarist, performed solo before the band came together. Her songs aim to inspire social change, encourage inner dialogue, and advocate for self love, shifting across genres to suit the message. Reviewers have taken notice, with outlets such as Rotary Times and The Cowboy Gazette offering colorful praise for the band and its live show. At the heart of it all is a simple goal, meeting listeners where music is ready to be shared.

Devon Allman’s Blues Summit featuring Jimmy Hall, Larry McCray & Laka Soul with Ghalia Volt

Devon Allman leads a Blues Summit that brings together Jimmy Hall, Larry McCray, and Laka Soul, with special guest Ghalia Volt. Raised within the musical legacy of his father Gregg Allman and the Allman Brothers Band, Devon guides a performance rooted in blues and rock tradition. Jimmy Hall, the voice of Wet Willie, is known for expressive vocals and fiery harmonica. From beginnings in Mobile, Alabama to forming the band in the late 1960s, his career includes dynamic live shows, the hit Keep on Smilin’, and collaborations with artists such as Jeff Beck. Larry McCray contributes soulful singing and emotive guitar. Shibori: Cloth, Lineage & Indigo Discipline

Concluding the Stuart studio season, this two day intensive in the Signature Mastery Series invites a deeper exploration of shibori. The focus moves beyond decorative pattern to the structure of cloth, using folds, bindings, calibrated tension, and repetition as a language expressed through indigo. The emphasis is on ongoing practice rather than a basic dye class. Newly arrived shibori stands from Japan will be introduced, offering functional tools that support traditional methods with added depth and precision. Working in a small, focused group creates time to slow down, refine technique, and engage fully with the process. This is the final shibori workshop in Stuart for the season and is designed for those ready to go deeper, build skills, and relate to cloth in a new way.

Steve Earle-51 Years of Songs & Stories

This performance highlights 51 years of songs and stories from acclaimed singer and songwriter Steve Earle. He became a member of the Grand Ole Opry in 2025 and is part of the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, with recognition from the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music. Mentored by Townes Van Zandt and Guy Clark, Earle developed into a singular storyteller whose songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, Joan Baez, Emmylou Harris, and the Pretenders. His debut album, Guitar Town, launched his career as its lead single reached Number 7 on the Billboard Hot Country chart, and the album is considered a classic of the Americana genre. Later releases The Revolution Starts…Now, Washington Square Serenade, and TOWNES received Grammy Awards for Best Contemporary Folk Album, and he holds four additional nominations in that category. His creativity spans far beyond the studio. He has published a novel and a short story collection, produced albums for artists including Joan Baez and Lucinda Williams, and acted in film and television, including on The Wire, as well as on stage. In 2009 he appeared in the off Broadway play Samara and composed its score, which The New York Times praised for its subtle effect. He also wrote music and appeared in Coal Country, a Public Theatre production about the deadliest mining accident in U.S. history, earning a Drama Desk Award nomination for the music. He hosts the weekly show Hard Core Troubadour on Sirius Radio’s Outlaw Country channel. The event presents a career-spanning set of songs and stories drawn from a lifetime of work in music, writing, production, acting, and radio.
