Chair Yoga

Experience a donation-based chair yoga class offering a therapeutic approach for those navigating aging, injury, or recovery. A certified yoga therapist guides gentle movement, breathing practices, and calming relaxation to build strong muscles and bones, improve flexibility, and support emotional well-being. Whether brand new to yoga or adapting an existing routine, participants receive individualized modifications for a safe, accessible practice. Expect focused poses and functional movement to support balance and steady walking, targeted stretches to ease stiffness and increase range of motion, and core work that enhances stability and confidence in daily life. Mindfulness and clear focus are encouraged through attentive breath awareness and restful integration. Registration is required. No prior yoga experience is needed. Wear comfortable clothing and bring water. Please bring a mat and any preferred props if you have them. A limited supply of mats and props can be provided. The class uses a chair to make the practice accessible for those with mobility challenges. Plan to arrive at the start so you can participate in the opening grounding practice. Held at Lake of the Hills Community Center.

Workshops & Classes

DIGGING INTO SOIL

Roll up your sleeves for a practical workshop that explores why soil matters. Participants will examine sand, silt, and clay up close, comparing how each feels and behaves while learning about properties like porosity and permeability and how these affect plant growth. Everyone will put together a small soil sample to take home for use in the backyard. This one hour session is designed with adult learners in mind, yet it is open to all. No prior experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to learn. Registration is required. The fee is $5 for members and $25 for nonmembers, and admission is included.
