Flynn’s Hobby Shop is hosting a casual, beginner friendly prerelease tournament for the Pokémon Trading Card Game that offers an early look at the Mega Evolution: Pitch Black set. It is a welcoming option for collectors and newer players who want to build a deck and play in a relaxed setting. Capacity is limited to 36 participants. All tables are dedicated to the event, and spectators are asked to stand so players can use the full play space. The entry fee is $30 and includes a Build & Battle Box with a ready to play 40 card deck, one of four stamped promo cards, and four Mega Evolution: Pitch Black booster packs to use in the tournament. At the end, each player receives three additional booster packs. Check in with staff at the door to confirm a reservation or be added to the waitlist. If seats remain after reservations are processed, they are offered on a first come, first served basis. Each participant receives a Build & Battle Kit shortly before deck construction begins. After hearing the organizer’s instructions, players build a 40 card deck using only the contents of their kit plus basic Energy provided by the organizer. Trading or using outside cards is not allowed. The event runs for three rounds, and the additional booster packs are handed out after play concludes. Players must bring at least six dice, a coin for flips or a translucent six sided die suitable for coin flips, and Burn and Poison status markers. Card sleeves are strongly recommended to protect new cards and are available for purchase at the shop. A positive, sportsmanlike attitude is required. Please note that staff and friends cannot hold spots. Extra Build & Battle kits are not sold during the prerelease window. Flynn's Hobby Shop hosts a second Mega Evolution: Pitch Black prerelease, a casual, beginner friendly tournament that gives players an early look at the upcoming set. It is ideal for collectors and newcomers to the Pokémon Trading Card Game. Participation is capped at 34 players. All tables are reserved for the prerelease, and spectators may watch while standing so play space remains available. Entry is 30 dollars and includes one Build & Battle Box containing a ready to play 40 card deck, one of four special stamped promo cards, and four Mega Evolution: Pitch Black booster packs to use during the event. When the tournament concludes, each participant receives three additional Mega Evolution: Pitch Black booster packs. Check in takes place at the door with staff. Players who are not on the reservation list will be placed on a waitlist, and if any spots remain they are offered on a first come, first served basis. Direct message Flynn's Pokémon League for the reservation link. Each participant is issued a Build & Battle Kit shortly before deck construction, not during registration. After the organizer’s instructions, players have a set period to build a 40 card deck using only the contents of their Build & Battle Box along with basic Energy. Basic Energy will be provided by the organizer. The tournament consists of three rounds, and the additional booster packs are distributed after play concludes. Trading or using any other cards during deck building is not allowed. Participants must bring at least six dice, a coin for flips or a six sided translucent die that is slightly larger than the damage counter dice, and Burn and Poison status markers. Card sleeves are highly recommended to protect new cards and are available for purchase at the shop. A positive, sportsmanlike attitude is required. Dice sets are not stocked at the shop for this event, so please arrive prepared. Spots cannot be held by staff, and friends cannot hold places for others. Phone requests to hold a seat will not be accommodated. Additional Build & Battle Kits are not for sale during the prerelease due to policy, and any leftover materials may be sold later only if the league qualifies for an early release program. During this milestone gathering, participants assemble thousands of hygiene items, on the order of 25,000, to benefit people in the community. Support can take many forms, including signing up, donating, sponsoring, or bringing hygiene products to advance the mission.
Medical Services Show & A Health Fair
At The Event Center, a combined medical services showcase and health fair takes place as part of the South Florida Business Conference and Expo. Professionals from across Broward County and South Florida come together to build relationships, meet healthcare leaders, and explore solutions that help organizations grow. Exhibitors have the chance to demonstrate offerings in person, speak directly with decision-makers, generate qualified leads, increase brand visibility, and form referral partnerships. The broader expo features a wide range of industry spotlights and programming, including technology and finance themes, international business, hospitality and property management, a focus on longevity and wellness, resources for women-led enterprises, a career-focused area, social media programming, a VIP networking lounge, and educational workshops. Programming also includes guidance on working with city, county, state, and federal agencies in a session presented by Broward County Schools. The event is produced by the Broward County Chamber of Commerce, a long-standing organizer of regional expos with a strong record of sold-out shows and high participation.

FREE Sports EKG Screenings (Coral Springs) - [U18] Sports Medicine, Joe DiMaggio Children's Hospital
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, in partnership with Who We Play For, provides complimentary sports EKG screenings for children, adolescents, and young adults ages 10 to 21. A pediatric EKG can help identify potential heart concerns in active youth. The screening is quick, painless, and noninvasive, using small electrodes placed on the chest to record the heart’s electrical activity. Group screenings are available at no cost through local schools, sports programs, or community organizations. Individual exams can also be scheduled at community cardiology offices by calling the Heart Institute at 954-276-2000.
