Set at The Grand Oaks Resort, this floating sound session centers on deep rest and quiet mindfulness. Settle into the water as resonant tones from crystal bowls, chimes, and gong move through the space, encouraging calm and inner stillness. Choose to drift in the pool or relax on a lounge chair poolside, taking in the soothing atmosphere of nature and sound. Bring a towel, drinking water, and sunglasses. Wear comfortable clothing or swimwear that can get wet. The pool is located at the resort’s clubhouse in the RV park area, and you can drive directly there with parking available at the clubhouse. Moonlighters Big Band

Experience live big band music and dancing as The Moonlighters, an 18-piece ensemble, perform at Recreation Plantation RV Resort. Vocalists Zanna Duckett and Marge Phillips are featured, and the set spans a mix of styles for dancers and listeners alike, including foxtrot, swing, waltz, two step, country, rhumba, cha cha, tango and possibly a polka. Seating is arranged at rectangular tables with ample space reserved for a large dance floor. A guest appearance by harmonica virtuoso Phil Caltabellotta is included. Admission is $15 at the door, or $12.50 with advance purchase. The event is open to the public and is BYOD and snacks, including alcohol.

At Village Art Workshops, craft a sea glass tree or sea glass gnome in the size that suits you. Choose a 6, 9, or 12 inch option. If you are making a tree, pick a theme such as coastal, spooky Halloween, festive Christmas, patriotic, or Valentine's, then personalize it with your choice of toppers and decorations. There is also an option to make two trees. The class welcomes ages 14 and older and can be enjoyed with an older child or grandchild. Hot glue will be used, so exercise care. No prior experience is required and all supplies are provided.

42nd Annual Sumter Scholarship Golf Tournament

Organized by the Sumter County School District, the 42nd Annual Sumter Scholarship Golf Tournament takes place at Evans Prairie Country Club. This long running community tradition raises scholarship funds for 2026 graduating seniors planning to continue their education at Lake-Sumter State College. Golfers will compete in a four person scramble. The entry fee is $85 and includes green fees, a cart, and a tee gift. Registration is open. Last year’s tournament sold out, so early registration is encouraged. Those who are not playing can support the effort through sponsorships that also offer community visibility. Spring Fling Youth Rabbit Show

Sunshine Kids Rabbit and Cavy Club presents its debut youth-only rabbit show at the climate-controlled facilities of First Baptist Church of Wildwood, near I-75 and the Florida Turnpike. Designed as a smaller, family friendly half-day gathering for young exhibitors, it features a double youth show with entry limits to help keep the schedule on track. Entry fees are $5 per rabbit, and there is no cleaning fee. Judges include Jeff Albright for the Youth A show and Dr. Steven Rousch for the Youth B show. Sanctions include the American Rabbit Breeders Association, Florida White, Havana, and Lionheads. Event leadership includes Show Secretary Heather Fisher and Show Superintendent Georgia Ann, with ARBA Registrar duties handled by Sue Gongela. On-site tattooing will be available for rabbits that need it, with proceeds supporting a future show. A show catalog will be available soon.

If the board is not destined for serving, it can double as eye catching wall decor. Learn to mix, tint, and pour resin, then use a heat gun to shape realistic wave patterns. Before starting the main piece, practice on a 3 inch square to build confidence, and keep it on the included easel as a finished mini artwork. Beginners are welcome and all supplies are provided. Participants can showcase personality, represent a business or team, and entertain an audience of Chamber members and guests.

Sea Glass Tree/Sea Glass Gnome Class!!

Create sea glass art at Village Art Workshops by crafting a tree or a gnome in your choice of 6, 9, or 12 inches. Personalize your piece with a theme such as coastal, spooky Halloween, festive Christmas, patriotic, or Valentine hearts, then add your preferred toppers and decorations. If you would like more time at the table, you can also make two trees. This workshop welcomes participants ages 14 and up and can be a shared activity with an older child or grandchild. Hot glue is used, so care is required. No prior experience is needed and all supplies are included.

Over time it has expanded its profile while enriching the cultural life of the community, presenting musical masterworks for local music patrons. Most musicians live in the Orlando area, with regular members also coming from Jacksonville, Tampa, Daytona, and St. Petersburg. The ensemble typically presents 13 to 15 concerts each year and does not provide full-time employment for its players. Its roster includes resident and international artists who also collaborate with symphonic and operatic organizations. While many members are not Villages residents, two professional players live in the community, and six dedicated amateurs train every Saturday to meet the orchestra’s performance standards.

Explore resin art at Village Art Workshops by creating a functional piece. Choose to make a clock, a lazy Susan, or a charcuterie board in several shapes. Boards can also be displayed as wall decor. Instruction covers mixing, tinting, and pouring resin, plus using a heat gun to create wave effects. Everyone practices first on a 3 inch square so the steps feel comfortable, and that mini piece comes with a small easel for display. All supplies are provided and no prior experience is required. JP Soars and the Red Hots deliver a high-energy show led by JP Soars with longtime collaborator Chris Peet on drums and Cleveland Frederick on bass. Soars and Peet have played together for nearly two decades, and Frederick has been part of the lineup since 2016. Their credits include stages across the United States and abroad, blues festivals from Belgium to Brazil, and appearances alongside Buddy Guy, Joe Bonamassa, Brian Setzer, and Larry Graham.
