The Cobb International Film Festival is a collaborative effort by Long Shot Productions, Ltd., East Coast Talent Agency, and the Earl & Rachel Smith Strand Theater. Presented across four days, it features a mix of feature films, shorts, and documentaries from across the United States and abroad, giving filmmakers at every level a platform to reach new audiences and showcasing works that often fall outside traditional theatrical lineups. The event began as the Marietta International Film Festival, whose first outing screened 22 films in a single day. By 2016 it had doubled in both scale and duration, and a partnership with Film Racing brought in leading finalists from that global competition. In 2017 it expanded again with monthly Indie Film Nights at the Strand Theatre, and in 2019 it adopted the Cobb International Film Festival name, moved into a four day format with a broader international presence, and introduced a full slate of workshops and panels to connect filmmakers, actors, and audiences. Held each year at the Earl & Rachel Smith Strand Theater on Marietta Square, the program also includes screenings and the Awards Gala for the international 100 Hour Film Race. Honors include Lifetime Achievement, Best Domestic Feature and Short, Best International Feature and Short, Best Local Film, Best Documentary, and acting awards for both features and shorts. Attendees have noted professional organization, clear communication, curated networking opportunities, and leadership that is attentive to both creators and viewers. The 12th annual edition includes at least one confirmed presenter traveling from Los Angeles to lead sessions on securing funding for independent films.

Trey Wright is a Roswell, Georgia based jazz guitarist, composer, and recording artist whose career includes six Best Jazz Band honors with the Athens quartet Squat at the Flagpole Athens Music Awards and featured appearances at festivals such as the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Bel Chere, the Twilight Athens Jazz Festival, the Cherry Blossom Festival, Harvest Midtown, and Athfest. His compositions have received international airplay and have been heard on Sirius radio and NPR’s All Things Considered. He has performed with artists including Jimmy Haslip of the Yellowjackets, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Corey Christiansen, and Darmon Meader of the New York Voices, and has taken the stage at events like the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, the International Festival of University Theatre in Casablanca, the World Sacred Music Festival in Bangalore, and performances in Montepulciano, Italy. He began performing with the Georgia Symphony Jazz Orchestra in 2008. Wright holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University and teaches jazz guitar, theory and composition, ensembles, jazz history, improvisation, and the history of rock at Kennesaw State University, with additional teaching experience at LaGrange College, Gainesville College, and the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media, as well as service as a Jazz Artist in Residence at the University of Georgia. From 2011 to 2016 he contributed a regular Jazz Harmony column to Just Jazz Guitar magazine. His recordings include Where I’m Calling From, The Trey Wright Trio’s Thinking Out Loud on Blue Canoe Records, The Hibbard/Wright Project with Grammy winner Mace Hibbard, and Songs From Oak Avenue. Thinking Out Loud was included in the first round of Grammy nominations for Best Jazz Instrumental Album in 2010 and later appeared in Delta Air Lines in flight entertainment.

X-Wing Outer Rim Open 2 Day Event
The Outer Rim Open is a two-day Star Wars X-Wing tournament run under XWA points and competitive regulations, with all games following the most current official rules. It is presented by Upstate X-Wingers in partnership with North Georgia X-Wing Minis. Organizers include Larry J. Leech II, Nicholas Smith, Charles Holcomb, Sean Bowman, Mark Uhler, Noah Frohnapel, and Charles Schroeder. Event staff will be easy to spot in matching shirts featuring the Upstate X-Wingers logo. Competition begins with five Swiss rounds on day one. Day two features the Top Cut, and a two-round team event will run at the same time for players not in the cut. Each day starts with on-site check-in followed by a brief players meeting, and there is a lunch break between rounds two and three. Registration is handled by Giga-Bites at a cost of $25 per person. Tournament administration will run through dedicated tournament software. Players must create an account in advance and submit their squad and obstacle choices before check-in. Bring two printed copies of your list with obstacles and make sure your name appears on every sheet. The same submitted squad must be used throughout the event. Players are responsible for all game materials required to field their squad, including ship, upgrade, and condition cards. Proxy and alternate-art cards are allowed, including prints from sources such as Infinite Arenas, provided they meet event requirements. Tiebreakers use total mission points from destroyed and damaged opposing ships, with ships at or below half health counting their value rounded down. If still tied, a roll to determine first player decides the winner. Prize support includes XWA awards for the Top Cut, a custom playmat for the champion, acrylic options for the top eight, special damage decks for the top sixteen, and custom-painted ships for Best in Faction. All participants are entered into prize drawings, and the top two teams in the side event receive additional awards. Players are expected to compete with courtesy and within the rules. Stalling, rough handling of components, inappropriate behavior, disrespect toward opponents, cheating, or other unsportsmanlike conduct may result in penalties at the discretion of judges, the marshal, or the organizers. Journey with Gentle Giants offers a scuba dive inside the Ocean Voyager exhibit at the Georgia Aquarium with Diventures Alpharetta. The Ocean Voyager habitat holds 6.3 million gallons of water, varies from roughly 20 to 30 feet deep, and is kept at about 76°F.
