    Experience an interactive talk on jazz led by Kennesaw State University professor and guitarist Trey Wright, presented in collaboration with the Jazz At The Strand series. This edition highlights A Love Supreme, the music of John Coltrane, and the series also delves into topics like Joni Mitchell’s jazz years, the role of the bass with guest Tim Aucoin, and Charlie Christian’s influence on jazz guitar. Admission includes one drink ticket. Capacity is limited to 30 guests, and attendees must be 21 or older. Trey Wright is a Roswell, Georgia based jazz guitarist, composer, and recording artist whose career includes six Best Jazz Band honors with the Athens quartet Squat at the Flagpole Athens Music Awards and featured appearances at festivals such as the Atlanta Jazz Festival, Bel Chere, the Twilight Athens Jazz Festival, the Cherry Blossom Festival, Harvest Midtown, and Athfest. His compositions have received international airplay and have been heard on Sirius radio and NPR’s All Things Considered. He has performed with artists including Jimmy Haslip of the Yellowjackets, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Corey Christiansen, and Darmon Meader of the New York Voices, and has taken the stage at events like the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, the International Festival of University Theatre in Casablanca, the World Sacred Music Festival in Bangalore, and performances in Montepulciano, Italy. He began performing with the Georgia Symphony Jazz Orchestra in 2008. Wright holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University and teaches jazz guitar, theory and composition, ensembles, jazz history, improvisation, and the history of rock at Kennesaw State University, with additional teaching experience at LaGrange College, Gainesville College, and the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media, as well as service as a Jazz Artist in Residence at the University of Georgia. From 2011 to 2016 he contributed a regular Jazz Harmony column to Just Jazz Guitar magazine. His recordings include Where I’m Calling From, The Trey Wright Trio’s Thinking Out Loud on Blue Canoe Records, The Hibbard/Wright Project with Grammy winner Mace Hibbard, and Songs From Oak Avenue. Thinking Out Loud was included in the first round of Grammy nominations for Best Jazz Instrumental Album in 2010 and later appeared in Delta Air Lines in flight entertainment.
