Roughly one in eight women who reach age 80 will be affected, and it accounts for about 30 percent of new cancer diagnoses in women each year. The center’s specialists are equipped to evaluate and diagnose promptly. Screenings use 3D digital breast tomosynthesis mammography and include take-home educational materials. Most insurance plans are accepted. For those without insurance, the cost is $99 for this event. A physician referral is not required. Classic cars and vintage trucks roll into the History Center’s McRitchie-Hollis Museum parking lot for the third annual community car show. Attendees can get an up-close look at vehicles from earlier eras, with owners available to share details and answer questions. Please park in the UWG-Newnan lot and walk the short distance to the History Center’s back lot. Admission is free, and donations are appreciated to support the History Center. A hot dog lunch with toppings, chips, a soft drink, and a cookie will be available for purchase. There will also be a live jam session featuring guitarist Lauran Hunt. Drivers who wish to participate can register for a $25 fee for a chance to earn first, second, or third place. Register through the website in advance or in person on the day. Keep your receipt, which serves as your ticket.

Marking fifteen years, the Tony Barnhart College Football Kickoff Breakfast is a long-standing Coweta County tradition that regularly sells out and benefits Coweta Samaritan Clinic. The program features Tony Barnhart, "Mr. College Football," who retired from sports media after a 50-year career and still keeps his annual visit to Newnan and the clinic. As he now accepts only a small number of speaking engagements, this is one of the rare chances to hear his preseason outlook in person. Expect insights on SEC storylines, coaching changes, playoff contenders, and championship predictions. The event combines football conversation with fellowship and philanthropy, and ticket purchases support the clinic’s mission to provide compassionate healthcare to uninsured adults in the community. Sunrise on the Square 5k continues a long-running Labor Day tradition in Historic Downtown Newnan. The course sets off from the city center and moves through “The City of Homes,” highlighting historic in-town neighborhoods and the commercial district. This USATF certified 5k uses chip timing with mats along the route, including at the start and finish, so each person’s time begins when they cross the starting line and stops at the finish. Expect a mix of terrain with flat stretches as well as downhill and uphill segments. Runners receive a race T-shirt. The event welcomes both runners and walkers of all experience levels. Registration opens this summer.
