Artist Talk: June ON::View Artist-in-Residence Cheryl Capezzuti
An Artist Talk spotlights Cheryl Capezzuti, the May ON::View Artist-in-Residence. For close to three decades, the Pittsburgh based artist has transformed the castoffs of American life into sculptures that probe the human experience. What began as a playful look at domestic routine through lint took a more tender direction in 1999 after the loss of her grandmother, turning toward themes of love, loss and memory. In response to the 2020 pandemic, she again worked with dryer lint to mirror the contemporary American state of mind. By pairing this delicate material with sturdy metal armatures, she has created hundreds of large scale, archival works rooted in community. Her current project shapes figurative pieces from residential dryer lint that speak to what it feels like to be human right now. Savannah residents are invited to donate a bag of dryer lint along with a short handwritten note that shares who they are, what they wash and how they feel about doing laundry. These contributions will be used to create artworks on view in the ON::View residency space. Additional works by Capezzuti will be presented in The Ellis Gallery as part of Rooted, a group exhibition curated by guest curator Lisa Jaye Young. Support for this residency project includes an Artist Opportunity Grant from the Greater Pittsburgh Council for the Arts. The ON::View Residency is made possible with investment from the City of Savannah and support from Georgia Council for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Special thanks to local partners including Starlandia Supply, SCAD Museum of Art, Telfair Museums, Thompson Savannah, Green Truck Pub and Starland Yard.

Killer Comedy Murder Mystery
A shocking crime interrupts a lively evening at Billy’s Place at McDonough’s, and the culprit is hiding in plain sight. Led by a detective from Front Porch Improv, teams dig into the case by interviewing suspects, searching for clues, and following unscripted scenes that expose motives, secrets, and suspicious behavior. Some characters will mislead while others reveal too much, so sharp observation and teamwork are needed to solve it before the night wraps up. The experience blends an improv comedy performance with an interactive whodunit, making each show entirely its own. A full dinner and bar menu will be available for purchase, and food and drinks are not included with the ticket. Summer@Massie brings back “Sav”vy Architecture Camp for rising 4th through 6th graders. This weeklong session features a daily field trip or outdoor activity, with lessons at Massie that build on what participants explore each day. The fee is $175 per child for the week. Enrollment is limited to 12 campers per week, and full payment is required at registration. To ensure wider access, each camper may attend only one week. Camps are on sale now.
