Hawkes, the band’s trailblazing keyboardist who studied composition and flute at Berklee, defined their signature synth-driven sound on hits including Just What I Needed, Let’s Go, Shake It Up, Drive, and You Might Think, built an extensive career as a composer, session musician, producer, and solo artist, rejoined for Move Like This, and entered the Hall in 2018. Their work helped define late 1970s and 1980s new wave and synth pop, and their influence continues to resonate with generations of musicians and fans.

Participants can bring flat items like photographs, postcards, building plans, or scrapbooks to be scanned, record a brief memory on camera, or take part in a traditional oral history interview. Stories and materials that reflect neighborhoods, social groups, churches, schools, community organizations, events, leaders, landmarks, and favorite community memories are all welcome. At Pulaski Square, visit the official photo booth to enter the costume contest, pick up a shirt and raffle ticket, and sign up for the Wiener Races, with an open category for dogs of all breeds. Vendors and rescue groups will also be set up in other downtown squares. Proceeds support local animal rescues and shelters from surrounding counties, and attendees can meet adoptable dogs along the route. Funds raised also benefit the Sara Portman Community Fund, which focuses on spay and neuter efforts, education, and helping keep pets with their families. The event supports #HonorMark, which gives back to first responder and military families and has donated more than $55,000 since 2018. Mark served four years in the Marine Corps and received a Purple Heart, then continued his service as a firefighter and paramedic with Southside Fire and EMS, Bryan County Emergency Services, Savannah Fire Rescue, and Parris Island Fire Rescue. He passed away on November 22, 2017 at the age of 33 and is remembered by his wife, Angie, and their children, Chase and Emerson. Participation is available in person at Daffin Park in Midtown Savannah or virtually, continuing a tradition that reflects Mark’s spirit of service before self.

Runners and walkers can take part in the Girl Scout Island Ultra in collaboration with Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia on Rose Dhu Island in Savannah, Georgia, the Girl Scouts private island. Holiday spirit shines through classic Motown style renditions of "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" and "Silent Night". This is the production's only area appearance of the holiday season.
