    An interactive Jazz Talk with KSU professor and guitarist Trey Wright, presented in partnership with the Jazz At The Strand series, centers on A Love Supreme and the music of John Coltrane. Admission includes one drink ticket. Seating is limited to 30 guests, and attendees must be 21 or older. Trey Wright is a Roswell-based jazz guitarist, composer, and recording artist whose early work in Athens included the quartet Squat, a multiple-time recipient of the Flagpole Athens Music Awards for Best Jazz Band. His compositions have been heard internationally and featured on outlets such as Sirius and NPR’s All Things Considered. He has performed with artists including Yellowjackets bassist Jimmy Haslip, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Corey Christiansen, and Darmon Meader. Festival appearances include the Montreux Jazz Festival, Jazz à Vienne, the International Festival of University Theatre in Casablanca, the World Sacred Music Festival in Bangalore, and performances in Montepulciano, Italy. As a soloist and with his trio, he has appeared at the Athens Music and Arts Festival, the Athens Jazz Festival, the Lake Oconee Jazz Festival, and the Atlanta Jazz Festival, and he began performing with the Georgia Symphony Jazz Orchestra in 2008. Wright holds a Master of Music in Jazz Studies from Georgia State University. He teaches jazz guitar, theory, composition, ensemble, history, improvisation, and the history of rock at Kennesaw State University, with additional teaching experience at LaGrange College, Gainesville College, and the Atlanta Institute of Music and Media, as well as time as a Jazz Artist in Residence at the University of Georgia. From 2011 to 2016 he contributed a Jazz Harmony column to Just Jazz Guitar magazine. His recordings include Where I’m Calling From, the Trey Wright Trio’s Thinking Out Loud on Blue Canoe Records, The Hibbard/Wright Project with Mace Hibbard, and Songs From Oak Avenue. Thinking Out Loud received first-round Grammy consideration and later appeared in Delta Air Lines in-flight entertainment. Future talks in this series will explore Joni Mitchell’s jazz years, the role of the bass with guest Tim Aucoin, and Charlie Christian’s influence on jazz guitar.
