Yoga for Everyday Life

This weekly class from Lake & Lotus Yoga focuses on weaving yoga into everyday life through movement, breath, and mindful awareness. The emphasis extends beyond poses, centering on authenticity, self understanding, and joy. Sessions are designed to be practical and accessible so they naturally support daily routines. The opening sequence explores the five Yamas, the ethical foundations of yoga that shape how people relate to themselves and others, including Ahimsa or non harming, Satya or truthfulness, Asteya or non stealing, Brahmacharya or wise use of energy, and Aparigraha or non grasping. Each meeting spotlights one theme while strengthening the body, calming the mind, and deepening connection, and it closes with a simple takeaway to carry into daily life. The space is inclusive and supports participants of all ages and abilities. This is an ongoing weekly offering with future themes, special topics, and series announced throughout the year to encourage continued exploration of yoga, mindfulness, and personal growth. Pricing options include a single class pass for $15 or a five class punch card for $60, valid only for Yoga for Everyday Life at Anahata Wellness Co-op. Paper punch passes are provided during class. Instruction is led by Angela, who recently completed a Yoga Alliance approved 200 hour teacher training. Her aim is to create a supportive environment where people can build strength, find balance, gain confidence, and deepen their connection to themselves and their community. Completing certification later in life reinforced her belief that it is never too late to learn, follow a dream, or begin something new, and she believes growth often starts when people step outside their comfort zones.

Blood on the Clocktower

Diversions Tabletop Game Lounge hosts Blood on the Clocktower, a social deduction game of hidden roles where Good and Evil compete under the guidance of a Storyteller. During the day, players talk openly and slip away for private conversations to share clues or spread deception, then vote on an execution if a majority suspects someone of being Evil. At night, the Storyteller wakes players one by one to gather information, cause trouble, or carry out a kill. No one is sidelined for long, since eliminated characters continue to influence the outcome as ghosts, and late arrivals can still jump in as Travellers with distinctive abilities and uncertain loyalties. Sessions run every Sunday with some Thursdays added, rotating through several formats. Learn to Play welcomes first-timers with a rules walkthrough, strategy talk, and supportive guidance. Level Up explores deeper layers beyond the base script, introducing new roles or small script adjustments. Advanced features scripts selected by the Storytellers Guild for players who already have a strong handle on characters and rules. Occasional Special Feature sessions may test custom scripts, spotlight new elements, and more. Tickets are required.

Making Magic Together: Dresser Build Event

DVIP/RVAP and Houses into Homes are partnering to turn six new transitional townhomes in Johnson County into comfortable places to live. With construction nearly finished, attention shifts to thoughtful furnishing and decor, using mostly gently used pieces refreshed to cut both costs and waste. Each three bedroom unit still needs three dressers and three nightstands, and the plan includes assembling new bedroom storage so families have sturdy essentials when they move in. The gathering begins with check in and a brief welcome, then small teams of two to four people assemble boxed dressers and nightstands. Others can help by selecting household goods from prepared lists in the Houses into Homes warehouse and packing them into moving boxes, or by testing puzzles and games and writing housewarming notes for future residents. There is no fee to take part, but registration is required for planning and may be limited if weather moves activities indoors. To cover the cost of new pieces, the goal is $150 per dresser and $50 per nightstand, totaling $3,600. Voluntary contributions can be made during registration or at the event, and teams may fundraise and contribute even if they cannot attend. All funds raised will be used exclusively to support the townhome project.

This session, The Listening Stones: A Sound Immersion, centers on sensing subtle qualities in the stone circle. Through resonance and quiet, participants explore how vibration interacts with stone, earth, and the body, opening new avenues of perception and connection. Crystal singing bowls, a drum, and gongs guide the experience, creating a gentle space for presence and reflection. Participants are led through an opening ceremony with grounding practices, attentive listening with the landscape, an immersive sound experience with bowls, drum, and gongs, and time to consider lineage, belonging, and place. The atmosphere is rooted, spacious, and respectful, and all who feel called to sit with the land in presence are welcome. For comfort, bring a yoga mat, blanket, or chair, and dress for the weather.

Music Bingo @ Joe's Place (Iowa City, IA) / 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the Month @ 8pm

Think & Drink brings Music Bingo to Joe’s Place in Iowa City, blending classic bingo with a music twist. Instead of numbers, you will hear parts of songs. When you know the song title, place a chip on your card, and five in a row makes you a winner. Phones, devices, and apps are not allowed to keep the game fair. The night mixes bingo, name-that-tune challenges, and plenty of sing-alongs. It is free to play, and winners can collect free prizes. A sample clue goes like this: “Shawty had them apple bottom jeans, boots with the fur, the whole club was lookin’ at her.” If it does not say Think & Drink, it is not the same Music Bingo experience.

You-Pick Sunflowers

Cut your own sunflowers in a bright, expansive patch at Wilson’s in Iowa City, now entering its fifth season. The fields are planted in waves so blooms last longer, creating a colorful setting to wander with family and friends, take photos, and savor the season. Sunflowers follow the sun throughout the day, and their sturdy roots help improve the soil, adding to the beauty and health of the farm. Expect sweeping rows of flowers and plenty of picture spots, including areas among the berries. Kids can explore indoor and outdoor play spaces and visit the animal viewing area to see sheep and a llama. Food and drink are part of the experience too, with artisan pizzas from the Pizza & Cider Shack, Wilson’s cider in both nonalcoholic and hard varieties, apple cider donuts and turnovers made fresh, soft serve ice cream, and a rotating selection of baked goods like bagels, sourdough, and croissants. Admission is required for ages 2 and up to enter the fields. You-pick stems are priced at $2 each. Optional add-ons may include a tractor ride purchased in person, subject to availability. To keep the patch plentiful, temporary closures can occur to prevent over-picking. The experience depends on weather, and operations may end early during severe conditions. If traveling from a distance, consider calling 319-354-5651 to check availability. Questions can also be sent to market.ic@wilsonsfarm.com. Professional photography is welcome, with standard field admission for all guests and courtesy for others enjoying the space. Pets are not allowed in edible you-pick areas. They are permitted at the Farmyard, the Ciderhouse patio, and picnic areas if leashed, and they are not allowed inside buildings. Dates and details are subject to change, with exact timing announced closer to peak bloom.

The book follows Yara, chosen by God to confront Dominic, who commands the army of Bad Guys. After being cut off by family and hurt by a destructive relationship, Yara strikes a bargain and trades quiet hours of embroidery and compulsive tidying for a hazardous journey meant to prepare them for the mission ahead. In a parallel thread, Adrena, a disillusioned prophet with a dangerous secret ability, pursues divine approval and the hope of heaven to reunite with her mother, which means convincing Harpo, leader of the Good Guys, that her plan aligns with God’s will. As these paths unfold through a succession of adventures, Yara and Adrena move toward one another and toward revelations about life, death, and destiny. Blood on the Clocktower

Diversions Tabletop Game Lounge hosts Blood on the Clocktower, a social deduction experience where teams of Good and Evil compete under the guidance of a Storyteller. During the day, players talk openly and whisper in private to share clues or spread deception, and a group vote may lead to an execution. At night, the Storyteller wakes players one by one to gather information, cause trouble, or strike. The aim is to uncover and eliminate the demon before it overtakes the town. Everyone stays involved even after their character dies, since ghosts can still influence the outcome, and late arrivals can jump in as Travellers with unusual talents and uncertain allegiances. Each character has a unique ability, so no two players share the same role, and the action flows without the need for a traditional board as the Storyteller manages the components. Programming rotates throughout the month with Learn to Play, Starter, Level Up, and Advanced sessions, plus occasional Special Features. Learn to Play welcomes newcomers with rules explanations, basic strategy, and helpful tips. Level Up introduces roles or adjusted scripts that build on the foundations. Advanced sessions feature scripts selected by the Storytellers Guild and expect strong familiarity with characters and rules. Special Features appear less often and can include testing custom scripts or showcasing new elements. Tickets are required, and recurring opportunities are offered every Sunday with some Thursdays included. Ticketing and session specifics are listed on the BotC hub on the Diversions website.

An Extraordinary Evening of Kirtan

An extraordinary evening of kirtan brings together Jordan Loder with special guests Natalie Brown and Shiva Sundari Justin Matthews for a rare gathering of three acclaimed bhakti artists sharing one stage. Kirtan, an ancient meditative practice built on devotional call and response, is a vibrant, participatory experience where the voice becomes a pathway to the heart. Jordan Loder, a touring bhakti musician dedicated to sharing inner peace through music, has supported artists including Snatam Kaur, Deva Premal and Miten, Ajeet, Simrit, and Adam Bauer. His gatherings are known for tender, authentic energy, with professional sound, ambient lighting, and projected lyrics that make participation easy for everyone. He has been praised by GuruGanesha, founder of Spirit Voyage Music, for transmitting deep love and devotion through song. Natalie Brown, the force behind Sound Heals Studio and a student of Nada Yoga in India, blends traditional wisdom with the living resonance of sacred sound. Shiva Sundari Justin Matthews, a devoted kirtan musician who has accompanied Saul David Raye, brings a seasoned presence that helps hold a heartfelt space for communal singing. The evening opens with a chance to connect over an adaptogenic elixir, then flows into a communal kirtan with projected lyrics so every voice can take part. Moments of joy and stillness often arise as the room settles into the quiet that follows shared song, and both longtime chanters and first-timers are welcomed. Tickets are $40 and include one adaptogenic drink along with the full kirtan experience.

ReUnion Fall Doubles 2026

This doubles disc golf event at Altmaier Family Park features two rounds in a Best Shot format. Players can choose Pro divisions at $45 per person or Amateur divisions at $35 per person, with an optional $5 Ace Fund per person. A PDGA ratings rule allows one partner to be up to 10 points over the division cap as long as the other partner is at least 10 points under the cap, and no professional rated over 970 may compete in amateur divisions. Teams entered in the wrong division will be moved to the appropriate one. Co-ed divisions play Modified Best Shot, which means a single partner’s throw cannot be used three times in a row and, if one partner’s shot is used twice consecutively, the next throw must come from the other partner. There will be no plastic available on site. Amateur payouts can be redeemed at either Titan Store, and out-of-town players may arrange to have winnings mailed by messaging Titan Disc Golf on Facebook to select items. Pro payouts are issued through PayPal or Venmo. Refunds carry a $10 processing fee per person. If the event is full, refunds are issued only if the vacated spot is filled, and no refunds are given within 72 hours of the event unless it is canceled or rescheduled. Titan Disc Golf manages all refunds and cancellations. By pre-registering, participants agree to a waiver that acknowledges the risks of participation and releases Reunion Doubles, Matt Schlabach, Joe French, Titan Disc Golf, the City of Coralville, Coralville Parks and Rec, and the PDGA from liability, including matters related to COVID-19.
