The training is geared toward pets that go running, hiking, camping, or hunting with their people, as well as dogs living near the outskirts of town where snake encounters are possible. 208 Off-Road SXS Racing Exhibition

An SXS exhibition with a select field is planned at Meridian Speedway as part of Dairy Days, following the strong turnout and crowd response to the SXS segment during the King of the Hill Spectator Drags. The focus is a fun, controlled, spectator-friendly showcase with head-to-head matchups, timed runs, and the possibility of jumps and other obstacles on the asphalt track. Because this is open-wheel SXS competition on pavement, every driver and vehicle must be reviewed and approved before taking part. Organizers are seeking responsible drivers with mechanically sound machines and appropriate safety equipment. A driver application is required and will be used to determine the number of participants, safety equipment needs, and the event format and schedule. Space is limited, and submitting an application does not guarantee approval. Additional rules and details will be shared as planning progresses.

Workshop: Relief Printing

Explore relief printing in a hands-on session led by artist-in-residence Camilla Taylor. Each participant works with a 4 by 4 inch piece of soft carving material while learning to plan a high contrast image, carve the block, and make stamps. After carving, everyone combines their stamps to build a large collaborative pattern, coordinating layout and color choices to form a repeating design made from individual motifs. Attendees leave with their personal carving and a shared print created with the group. Partial scholarships are available by request at info@surelsplace.org. Camilla Taylor is based in Los Angeles and works across glass, printmaking, metal, fabric, and other materials, focusing on themes of interior life and the uncanny. In 2025 they presented Unkindness at Track 16 Gallery in Los Angeles, a project shaped by destruction and transformation that included a sculpture that endured the Eaton Fire. That year they were a ceramic artist in residence at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Residency and received a Pollock-Krasner Artist Fellowship. Teaching experience includes faculty roles at UCLA and Occidental College in sculpture, drawing, and printmaking. Works such as Unrelenting, a cast glass sculpture of a human foot affected by frostbite, reflect ongoing interests in vulnerability, endurance, and the thresholds where body and mind change. Taylor was raised in Provo, Utah.

PENITENT: Art Talk & Exhibit

An art talk and exhibit featuring artist-in-residence Camilla Taylor explores a new body of drawings, prints, and sculpture shaped by the legend of St. Mary of Egypt, the saint pictured veiled by her own hair after years of ascetic wandering. Hair appears as a recurring material and symbol, standing in for the body, carrying culturally charged, almost talismanic qualities, and invoking femininity that they approach with ambivalence. These works trace the physical and imagined power of hair while returning to the saint’s story. Taylor’s practice was profoundly altered when the Eaton Fire destroyed their Altadena home and studio along with nearly all existing artwork and belongings. Since then, their making has shifted toward more delicate, carefully held forms. They curated the group exhibition My House Burned Down at Track 16 Gallery in Downtown Los Angeles, and mounted the solo exhibition and catalog Unkindness at Track 16 Gallery in East Hollywood, engaging themes of atheist mysticism. One piece in that exhibition survived the fire, bringing endurance and change into the work itself. Born in Hayward and raised in Provo, Taylor now lives in Los Angeles. They have been a ceramic artist in residence at the Woodstock Byrdcliffe Residency and received a Pollock-Krasner Artist Fellowship. Working in glass, printmaking, metal, fabric, and other media, they examine interior states and the uncanny through the mortal body as both form and site of attraction and revulsion. Pieces such as Unrelenting, a cast glass foot subjected to frostbite, point to an interest in vulnerability, endurance, and the moments when body and mind are reshaped under pressure. Taylor has taught sculpture, drawing, and printmaking at UCLA and Occidental College.
