Mutual Aid Meet Up & Gardening 101

Gather at Black Dragon Games Playspace for a community meetup that pairs mutual aid with an introductory gardening lesson. It runs as a no-cost, voluntary exchange where neighbors share what they have and take what they need. Items often brought or picked up include new or gently used clothing and shoes, nonperishable food, baby essentials like diapers, wipes, and formula, arts and craft materials, toys and games, and hygiene or cleaning supplies. Skill sharing is welcomed, and kindness is part of the spirit. A community member will also lead a Gardening 101 session to cover the basics and help beginners feel ready to plant.

Black Holes: Unknown Horizons

At the Herrett Center for Arts & Science, Black Holes: Unknown Horizons presents a 32-minute film created by Double Dome Films for the la Caixa Foundation and the Madrid Planetarium. The program explores black holes formed in the explosive deaths of massive stars, how they bend spacetime, consume nearby stars, and send out gravitational waves that can be measured on Earth. It examines giants hidden in galactic cores with masses billions of times that of the Sun and considers the smallest varieties that have not yet been found, which could be tinier than an atom and fade in a flash of gamma rays. Framing black holes as a frontier of discovery, the show reflects on how studying them advances understanding of the universe across its history. After the film, a live presenter leads a tour of black holes throughout the cosmos and discusses which kinds could pose a risk to Earth. Open captioning is available.

International Astronomy Day - Free Star Party

This free stargazing event celebrates International Astronomy Day at the Herrett Center for Arts & Science. Viewing will be through telescopes at the Centennial Observatory, with chances to see Uranus, Venus, and Jupiter, plus a bright waxing gibbous Moon at about 72 percent illumination. Double and multiple stars and star clusters will also be in view, offering a relaxed opportunity to explore a range of celestial highlights.

Modern Regional Championship Qualifier

Put your skills to the test in a Regional Championship Qualifier run in the Modern format at Black Dragon Games. This event is open to players of all experience levels and has a $30 entry fee. Face a competitive field for the chance to earn an invitation to an upcoming Regional Championship.

International Astronomy Day - Solar Viewing and Activities

International Astronomy Day at the Herrett Center for Arts & Science features hands on astronomy activities for all ages along with special telescope viewing. In the Centennial Observatory, specially filtered instruments allow safe observations of sunspots and the Sun’s atmosphere. Later, the 24 inch telescope will be available for bright targets including Venus, Jupiter, and prominent stars. Admission is $1 per participant, with tickets available the day of the event at the Herrett Center front desk.

Spring Planting Workshop

Idaho spring can be unpredictable, so this hands-on spring planting workshop lets participants pot up seasonal plants now and pick them up later when the weather settles. Bring a container from home or select one at the garden center, fill it with the plants you choose, then leave it there to be cared for until frost and wind are less of a concern. When conditions improve, the finished container will be ready to take home and set on the porch. Pre-registration is required at 733-1485. The class fee is $15, and plant costs depend on how much you add to your pot. Bringing a friend is encouraged, and everyone can enjoy some time playing in the dirt.

Drumming and Reiki Workshop

Explore the wellness benefits of drumming in a hands-on workshop focused on health and well-being. Learn the fundamentals of native-style and frame drums as well as djembes, become familiar with different drumheads and beaters, and practice playing with both beaters and your hands. Spring Daisy Paint Night

Welcome spring at Koto Brewing Company with a relaxed paint night centered on an Idaho meadow dotted with white daisies beneath an open blue sky. All experience levels are invited to create an 8 by 10 inch acrylic landscape while receiving step by step guidance that highlights how choices in color, depth, and atmosphere shape the final piece. NAMIWalks Twin Falls is a community walk centered on mental health. Starting at Twin Falls Visitor Center, the 5k out and back follows the Canyon Rim Trail and channels support to NAMI Idaho’s life saving services, programs, guidance, and awareness efforts. The focus is unity, gratitude, and showing up for one another as well as for yourself. The finish line is never crossed in isolation, and the shared effort builds resilience like the beams of a house, helping everyone feel safe, supported, and ready for joy.

Tire Amnesty Day

Old tires can become breeding spots for mosquitoes. This spring, help cut down on pests by clearing out unwanted passenger tires at the Twin Falls County Transfer Station. During the event, county residents may bring up to four regular passenger tires at no cost.

May 4-7/8 I-D BASE FJC

At Perrine Bridge, an intensive introduction to BASE jumping led by veteran instructor Sean Chuma offers a structured path into the sport. With more than 9,000 BASE jumps to his name, Chuma guides participants through judgment, risk management, and foundational skills aimed at building safe, steady progress. The curriculum includes an advanced segment for those ready to move beyond entry-level fundamentals, and additional training days can be added. The emphasis is on disciplined technique and informed choices while keeping the experience enjoyable and health-focused. Applicants must already have over 200 skydives, and the course presents a challenging learning environment with a clear view of the realities of BASE jumping.

Dinosaurs: A Story of Survival

At the Herrett Center for Arts & Science, Celeste runs into trouble while trying to fold an origami dinosaur, and her friend Moon steps in to help by setting off a trip into the past. They encounter dinosaurs large and small, including feathered varieties, while exploring what became of these animals and whether any trace remains today. After the main presentation, a live presenter leads a tour of the current night sky with guidance on spotting planets, tips for identifying constellations, and stories about the stars from long ago. Admission is $7.50 for adults ages 18 to 59, $6.50 for seniors 60 and older, and $5.50 for children ages 2 to 17. CSI students with an activity card pay $5.50, and children under age 2 are free.

GPTF Info. Session

An in-person tour and information session offers a chance to learn about a K-10 charter school. The administration team will be present to answer questions and meet attendees, providing a simple way to get to know the school.

Dancing Among the Stars

Explore how Earth is constantly in motion in a show that traces our planet’s spin on its axis and its journey around the Sun. See how these movements shape the cycle of day and night and the repeating seasons, and learn what to look for in the sky to recognize the evidence of this cosmic dance. Presented at the Herrett Center for Arts & Science, the program teaches the fundamentals of Earth’s motions. Admission is $7.50 for adults ages 18 to 59, $6.50 for seniors 60 and older, and $5.50 for children ages 2 to 17 and CSI students with an activity card. Children under age 2 are free.

Serengeti: A Journey to the Heart of Africa

A giant screen film at the Herrett Center for Arts & Science presents the African Serengeti through the lens of the vast, ongoing migration of wildebeest and the intricate web of life connected to it. The narrative introduces an ancient, lively ecosystem where organisms ranging from tiny insects to the largest land mammals each play a vital role. It follows the natural forces that shaped this landscape and considers how a deeper understanding of its complexity can help protect the Serengeti. Admission is $7.50 for adults ages 18 to 59, $6.50 for seniors 60 and older, and $5.50 for children ages 2 to 17. CSI students with an activity card pay $5.50, and children under age 2 are admitted free.

Turn Up Mini-Tour

Big Papa's Grill & Live Music hosts the Twin Falls stop of the Turn Up Mini-Tour, featuring an all-ages hip hop lineup with live sets from S.D.O.T, ZAGA, NONXME, M.I.G Numen, 12-GAUG3, MT Souls, and Godina, with DJ Grits and DJ Finn on the decks. Art Class: Zen Rock Garden in Watercolor

Create a tranquil zen rock garden in watercolor at Twin Falls Center for the Arts. Guided by Southern Idaho artist and instructor Jenn Young, this hands-on class focuses on techniques for painting realistic stones. Participants will build depth and texture with successive washes of darker color, use shading to suggest dimension, and add delicate details that evoke mica and mineral flecks. Jenn works primarily in watercolor and woodworking and has taught in the Rupert area for several years. All supplies are included, and no prior experience is needed, so beginners are welcome. The class fee is $20 for MVAC members and $25 for non-members.

Breathwork Detox w/ Heidi @ The Locale

Through the 24-inch telescope, daylight targets also include a gibbous Venus at 79 percent illumination, Jupiter, a gibbous Mercury at 63 percent, and bright stars. All observations depend on the weather, and clear skies are necessary.

See a remarkably close pairing of Mars and Uranus as they pass just 0.1 degrees apart, the tightest conjunction of these planets until 2053. At Herrett Center for Arts & Science, a 24 inch telescope will show both worlds in a single field of view, making it easy to compare their similar apparent sizes even though Mars is relatively nearby and Uranus is far beyond. Viewing is weather dependent and requires clear skies.
