Created by Clark Planetarium in Salt Lake City, the experience surrounds the audience with sweeping visuals synced to favorites like "D'yer Mak'er," "Immigrant Song," "Black Dog," "Kashmir," "Ramble On," "Over the Hills and Far Away," "Whole Lotta Love," and more. Admission is $7.50 for adults ages 18 to 59, $6.50 for seniors 60 and older, and $5.50 for children ages 2 to 17. CSI students with an activity card pay $5.50, and children under 2 are free. 2026 Iron Fish

Experience a 24-hour bowfishing tournament built around a Big 20 minus Small 20 format. Each team tallies the combined weight of its 20 heaviest carp and its 20 lightest carp, the light total is subtracted from the heavy total, and the top adjusted weight wins. For example, 200 pounds minus 80 pounds equals 120 pounds toward the final score. Teams may include up to four participants. Entry is $50 for the main competition, with optional $10 side pots that recognize the smallest fish and the biggest fish. Payout goes to 30 percent of registered teams. Carp only, taken with a bowfishing rig. Broadheads are not allowed, use fish or field points only. The competition covers open water throughout Idaho. A valid Idaho fishing license is required, and all Coast Guard and Idaho Fish and Game regulations apply. Participants under 14 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, and small children are advised to wear life preservers. Fish disposal will be available for each team. All teams must complete check in before the start to avoid disqualification. Awards will be presented after weigh in is complete, and any additional rules or announcements will be shared before launch. This event is the final leg of the Triple Crown. Explore the daytime sky with safely filtered telescopes that reveal the Sun’s features, from visible sunspots to dynamic details in its atmosphere. After solar viewing, a 24-inch telescope targets bright objects beyond our star, including Venus in a gibbous phase at about 71 percent illumination, Jupiter, Mercury as a slim 22 percent crescent, and bright stars that can be seen in daylight. Viewing depends on the weather, and clear skies are required.

Set where sheer cliffs meet crashing waves, this immersive story follows a colony of Australian sea lions. In a place that is both beautiful and unforgiving, a timeless tale of growing up unfolds with guidance from some of Australia’s most curious and clever marine mammals. Step inside the colony to see tender moments and awkward first attempts give way to the courage and sacrifice that survival demands. Follow a young pup from this rare species and meet the people working to protect her kind. Black Holes: Unknown Horizons

Explore the extremes of gravity with a cinematic journey into black holes. Formed in the cataclysmic deaths of massive stars, these objects bend space and time, consume nearby stars, and send out ripples in spacetime that instruments on Earth can detect. The story also considers the giants that anchor galactic cores, weighing as much as billions of suns, as well as still-undetected miniature black holes that could be smaller than an atom and fade in bursts of gamma rays. Black Holes: Unknown Horizons runs 32 minutes and was created by Double Dome Films for the la Caixa Foundation and the Madrid Planetarium. After the screening, a live presenter leads a tour of black holes throughout the universe and discusses which, if any, might pose a risk to Earth. Admission is $7.50 for adults ages 18 to 59, $6.50 for seniors 60 and older, and $5.50 for children ages 2 to 17. At the Herrett Center for Arts & Science, follow Elon, a hamster scientist who tinkers in a junkyard and struggles to earn respect from the nearby rat community. After a thunderous crash carves a crater in his garden, he uncovers a broken robot. When he repairs it, he learns the robot fell from a spaceship preparing for a mission to settle Mars. With departure just three days away, Elon races to return the robot to its companions aboard the ship. This animated adventure celebrates ingenuity and courage on a journey to space and back. Mark the nation’s 250th anniversary a little early at Canyon Crest Event Center with an evening of country music, dancing, and laid-back fun. Admission is $25 plus tax and open to ages 18 and up. An expert instructor will lead line dancing lessons, a photo booth will capture the moments, and a no host bar will be available throughout the night.

Experience the America 250 Firecracker Spectacular, a high energy program at the track featuring fireworks along with the Midnight Ride of Paul Revere. Powered by College of Southern Idaho Workforce Development, the event includes racing from NASCAR Trucks, McDonald's Street Stocks, Project Filter Mini Modifieds, Thunder Dogs, and Fastlane Automotive Hornets. Be sure to look over the event’s cancellation guidelines in advance. Food and beverages from outside are not permitted inside the stadium. Close Conjunction of Mars & Uranus

See a remarkably close pairing of Mars and Uranus as they pass just 0.1 degrees apart, the tightest conjunction of these planets until 2053. At Herrett Center for Arts & Science, a 24 inch telescope will show both worlds in a single field of view, making it easy to compare their similar apparent sizes even though Mars is relatively nearby and Uranus is far beyond. Viewing is weather dependent and requires clear skies.

Monthly Free Star Party

At the Centennial Observatory, a free monthly star party offers telescope views of a gibbous Venus at about 65 percent illumination, along with double and multiple stars and deep-sky sights such as star clusters, nebulae, and galaxies. Art Class: Sunset on the Water in Watercolor

Capture the mood of a summer evening on the water in a welcoming watercolor class at Magic Valley Arts Council. Participants practice glowing color washes, shape soft clouds, and create convincing reflections to suggest water, then bring the scene together step by step. The session is led by Southern Idaho artist Jenn Young, whose work spans watercolor and woodworking and who has taught in the Rupert area for several years. Materials are provided. No prior experience is required. Members of the arts council pay $20 and nonmembers pay $25.

Carvin Jones brings a high energy rock and roll blues performance to American Legion Post #7 in Twin Falls. Named by Guitarist Magazine as one of the 50 greatest blues guitarists, he has earned praise from artists and publications around the world, including recognition from Eric Clapton, BB King, and Buddy Guy. His career includes opening sets for Carlos Santana, Jeff Beck, Gary Moore, Albert Collins, and Johnny Winter, and he has performed for service members in Iraq and Kuwait. Expect virtuosic guitar work and an electrifying atmosphere. VIP options include a personal meet and greet and front row seating, and children 12 and under are admitted free. Junior Chef Summer Workshop - Kitchen Boot Camp

Young cooks ages 9 to 12 can dive into a hands-on culinary workshop at Fifth Avenue Point Event Center. Four standalone classes are available, featuring two themes: Disney-inspired desserts and a tour of breads from around the world. Each class is limited to 25 students and costs $49 per participant per class. Space is limited and tends to fill quickly.

Explore the daytime sky with solar-safe filtered telescopes that allow close-up views of the Sun, including sunspots and delicate features of the solar atmosphere. After the solar session, turn attention to other targets by spotting Venus in a gibbous phase at about 60 percent illumination, and take in bright stars through a 24-inch telescope. Viewing is weather dependent, and clear skies are required.

At the Herrett Center for Arts & Science, telescopes will be focused on Pluto during its peak brightness and closest point of the year. The distant dwarf planet, about 3,211,620,000 miles, or 5.17 billion kilometers, away will be visible as a tiny pinpoint of light, offering a look toward the outer reaches of the solar system. Viewing is weather dependent, and clear skies are necessary.

Advance beyond the basic chop in a hands-on class focused on classic French cuts central to high-end cooking. Practice techniques from chiffonade to tourné and learn how uniform knife work influences both cooking and presentation. Professional-grade steel from Wüsthof and Shun will be used to keep each slice smooth and controlled. The cost is $40. Bring an apron and be ready to sharpen your technique.

Deep Partial Lunar Eclipse

At the Herrett Center for Arts & Science, a deep partial lunar eclipse unfolds as Earth’s shadow glides across the Moon. It begins with gentle penumbral shading, then the darker umbra takes a noticeable bite from the lower left. At the height of the event a slim band along the upper edge remains illuminated, after which the shadow steadily retreats. The partial phase wraps up as the last darkness leaves the lower right, with faint shading lingering before the Moon returns to its normal brightness. The observatory remains open as the eclipse progresses, with telescopes available for detailed views as well as opportunities to watch with the naked eye. This activity depends on the weather.
