Ravenloft Dungeons and Dragons Campaign

A Ravenloft Dungeons and Dragons campaign set in the Land of Mists, a realm shaped by willful fog and unsettling omens. The mist arrives when it chooses and erases the world you knew, leaving a place where the sun is grey and cold, clocks disagree, and villagers know your name and pity what is coming. Roads turn back on themselves, forests seem to breathe, statues weep, and a distant castle stays out of reach until the night its open doors finally wait. In that darkness, something watches with many faces, a courteous host who never eats, a child with dolls made in your image, a reflection that lags a heartbeat. It can wait forever to decide your fate. Expect your name on the wind, the return of faces you buried, and doors that open when you wish they would not. Tenth Muse Dance hosts a beginner-friendly fusion belly dance series led by Erin Mariele. The curriculum builds solid fundamentals in belly dance and fusion technique, then connects steps through short combinations. Expect low impact training that focuses on core isolations while still offering a sweaty, core-strengthening workout. No prior dance experience is required. Each class includes a thorough warmup, targeted conditioning for key muscles and joints, skill-building drills, and choreography that progresses throughout the session toward a semiannual showcase. If the instructor is unexpectedly unavailable, a substitute or a make-up class will be arranged when possible. The session will proceed only if at least four participants enroll. Wear fitted yoga attire and dance barefoot, in socks, or in dance shoes. Street shoes are not permitted on the dance floor. Bring a yoga mat for warmup and conditioning. A water bottle, towel, and yoga blocks can be helpful. The 10 week session costs $120, which includes a $2 processing fee. A $15 drop-in option is available. Payments can be split into two installments, and custom payment plans are offered.

SVdP - Holy Trinity: Monday’s Food & Clothing Distribution

St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity offers community distribution of food and clothing with a drive-through system designed for safety and efficiency. Guests arriving by car are asked to join the vehicle line, keep plenty of space available in their trunk or cargo area for easy loading, and remain inside their vehicles while volunteers bring items to them. Bicycles and motorized bikes must be walked while on the lot. A walk-up station is available only for those without access to a vehicle, and guests who arrive by car will be served at their vehicle rather than at the walk-up area. Visitors are asked to respect nearby residences by not blocking driveways and by following local parking rules. Service is limited to those already in the parking lot when distribution closes. If a recipient receives something they cannot use, they are encouraged to share it with a neighbor or another family in need, helping resources reach as many people as possible.

May Open Mic Poetry at Bobzbay Books!

A laid back open mic at Bobzbay Books offers a friendly place to meet new people, share a love of spoken word, or simply listen to poetry as part of a monthly series. The gathering takes place in the Kid’s Room with a relaxed atmosphere that welcomes both newcomers and seasoned poets. There is no stage and no microphone, which makes it a comfortable setting for first-time readers or anyone with stage fright. Readings may include original poems, favorite pieces, short stories, and spoken word. Participants are asked to avoid material that degrades or ostracizes any person, and to keep shares brief so everyone has a chance to read. If time allows, readers may take another turn after all participants have shared. During the event, a small seating area with about 8 to 10 chairs will be available for readers and listeners, and others are welcome to quietly explore the shop while listening. The Kid’s Room will be closed to shopping during the event, while the rest of the store remains open and accessible. Participation is free and open to the public, and no registration is required. A sign-up sheet in the Kid’s Room will help determine the number of participants. Children are welcome with adult supervision, though readings may not be suitable for all ages. This series takes place on select Saturdays throughout the year.

Knit In at Bloomington Public Library

Fiber enthusiasts can bring yarn, needles, and hooks to Bloomington Public Library for a relaxed crafting session in friendly company. Work on personal projects or contribute to community-minded efforts alongside fellow knitters and crocheters. Featured projects focus on adult-size chemo caps for patients at Carle Cancer Institute of Normal and cotton soap sacks for distribution through local shelters, food pantries, veterans clinics, and social service agencies. Chemo caps may be knit or crocheted and must be new, clean, unscented, free of pet hair, and from smoke-free homes. Use soft fibers such as cotton, acrylic, silk, bamboo, fleece, or blends, avoid wool and alpaca, and choose tighter stitches without large holes to fully cover the scalp. Place each cap individually in a clear zip-top plastic bag. Soap sacks may be knit or crocheted with cotton yarn only, and the soap to include inside will be provided by the Museum. Parking is available in the library's main lot or on nearby streets.

Book Signing with Genre-Blending Author Emily Jane at Bobzbay Books!

A book signing with speculative fiction author Emily Jane at Bobzbay Books celebrates the release of her new novel, Mr. Yay. Attendees can meet the writer, explore her cross-genre, reality-twisting stories, and pick up signed copies. Mr. Yay will be available alongside her earlier novels American Werewolves, Here Beside the Rising Tide, and On Earth as It Is on Television, with pre-order options offered by the shop. Mr. Yay blends sharp humor with offbeat mystery and big-hearted questions, weaving together rappers and dogs, relationships and private investigators, nostalgia and identity. It looks at how people respond when the world seems to shift and memories no longer match the past. American Werewolves imagines predatory financiers who are literally wolves, a satire that bridges frontier myth and modern corporate culture. Here Beside the Rising Tide follows a romance author who returns with her children to a coastal hometown, where a once-lost friend reappears, new love takes root, and strange sea creatures complicate the search for calm. On Earth as It Is on Television begins with silent alien arrivals who depart as suddenly as they came, sparking a lively, human-centered story about finding one’s place amid cosmic uncertainty. Emily Jane grew up in Boise, Boulder, and San Francisco, earned a psychology degree from the University of San Francisco and a law degree from UC Law San Francisco, and now lives in Cincinnati, Ohio on an urban farm with her husband, Steve, their two children, two cats named Scully and Ripley, and a husky named Nymeria.

SVdP - Holy Trinity: Monday’s Food & Clothing Distribution

St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity provides a food and clothing distribution using a drive-through system designed for quick, safe service. Guests should remain in their vehicles while volunteers load items, and making space in the vehicle before arrival helps the line move smoothly. A walk-up area is available only for those without access to a vehicle, and anyone who arrives by car should stay with their vehicle rather than using the walk-up line. Bicycles and motorized bikes must be walked while on the lot. Please be considerate of neighbors by not blocking private driveways. For fairness, only those who are in the parking lot by closing will be served. If you receive something your household cannot use, consider sharing it with a neighbor or another family in need.
