St. Vincent de Paul Holy Trinity offers a Monday distribution that provides groceries and clothing through a drive-through system. For safety and efficiency, guests should remain in their vehicles while volunteers load items, and it helps to arrive with ample space cleared in the car. Walk-up service is reserved only for guests without access to a vehicle. Please walk bicycles and motorized bikes while on the lot, be mindful of nearby driveways, and follow local parking rules. Service is limited to those who are already in the parking lot before each session ends. If you received food during a 2nd or 4th Saturday distribution, please skip the following Monday to ensure resources are available for everyone. Profit Share Fundraiser for Child Protection Network

Bobzbay Books is hosting a profit share fundraiser benefiting Child Protection Network, with 10 percent of every purchase made in the shop or online during the event donated to the cause. Online orders placed that day also count toward the total, and shipping is available. Child Protection Network is a volunteer-led 501(c)(3) established in August 1990 by the McLean County State’s Attorney in collaboration with a grassroots group of community leaders. Get Your Farm History Kicks Along Route 66

Explore the agricultural and roadside heritage of central Illinois on a guided bus tour that traces historic Route 66 and the Old Chicago Trail from Bloomington through Towanda, Lexington, and Chenoa. Hosted by the McLean County Museum of History and the McLean County Farm Bureau, the experience is led by Don Meyer, agricultural historian and guest curator for the Museum’s Farming in the Great Corn Belt exhibit, and Candace Summers, the Museum’s Senior Director of Education. The route follows IL Route 4 and the two lane U.S. 66 from downtown Bloomington to Towanda, then continues along the 1833 Old Chicago Trail toward Lexington. Highlights include a look at a surviving country school building and the Black Hawk War stockade site, touring Lexington landmarks such as Van Dolah Castle, the Race Track, Turkey Creek Golf Club, and Patton Cabin, and a drive along Memory Lane, a preserved stretch of the 1920s highway. The journey also passes thousands of acres of Matthew T. Scott’s original farmland, includes a view of his historic home in Chenoa, and shares stories of the town’s former canning factory, tile works, and coal mines. Roundtrip transportation by Peoria Charter Coach is provided, with bottled water and a snack included, and coffee and donuts available before departure. The coach leaves from and returns to the Interstate Center and McLean County Fair Grounds. Seating is limited to 50 passengers and a minimum of 28 is required to secure the motor coach. Tickets are $50 for Museum and McLean County Farm Bureau members and $55 for the general public. Payment is due at purchase and major credit cards are accepted. Ticket sales are handled through the Museum’s website and by phone, and the Museum’s Education Department can answer questions.

McLean County Museum of History

Downtown Bloomington Architecture Tour

Step into the stories behind downtown Bloomington’s century-old architecture on a guided walk led by the Museum’s Senior Director of Education, Candace Summers, with Museum volunteer Virgil Hovar. Explore distinctive styles across surviving landmarks and learn about the designers who shaped them. The route also reflects on notable structures that have been torn down and considers how historic buildings have been repurposed to serve changing community needs. Participation is limited to 60 people. Tickets are $15 for the general public, $12 for Museum members, and $5 for students, available for purchase online. Expect to cover about a mile with pauses at various stops. The tour begins and ends at the Museum. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended, and bringing water is encouraged. The Morning Larks

The Morning Larks bring a live, free, all-ages performance to Uptown Circle in Uptown Normal. This trio features ukulelist Emily Williams, guitarist Christina Eltrevoog, and fiddler Sarah Arter. Their collaboration began in 2018 when a chance guest spot at a north central Illinois pub brought together guitar, violin, and ukulele for the first time, sparking easy three-part harmonies. 2026 Festival of Joy - Eat. Dance. Make Memories.

Welcome the fall season with a colorful celebration of joy at Museum Square in downtown Bloomington. Experience a re-creation of the Ratha Yatra, the Festival of Chariots, as participants pull a brightly decorated chariot by hand while ancient Sanskrit mantras and traditional instruments fill the air. The main stage presents continuous classical music and dance. Around the venue, explore cultural and educational exhibits, try traditional crafts, enjoy yoga and meditation instruction, and take part in family friendly games and activities. Face painting and mehendi henna are offered, and there are opportunities to dress in traditional attire. Savor traditional street foods available for purchase, then gather for a complimentary vegetarian feast. The parade traces its roots to India’s bhakti tradition and has been observed for over three thousand years in Jagannatha Puri. It honors Lord Jagannath, whose name combines the Sanskrit words for universe and Lord, and pulling the chariot is regarded as a meaningful privilege. The English word juggernaut arose after colonial officials witnessed this procession. The celebration also appears in major city centers worldwide, including Fifth Avenue in New York and Piccadilly Circus in London. Admission is free.

Oktoberfest Weekend 2026

Oktoberfest Weekend returns to DESTIHL Beer Hall & Barrel Room for a festive celebration of Bavarian traditions. Live music fills the weekend with performances by Die Musikmeisters, Heidelberg German Band, Andrew Duncanson & Take A Ride, The Mason Dixies, and The Neals. Festivities include a ceremonial keg tapping, multiple stein holding contests for women, men, and kids, and German attire contests for both kids and adults. The schedule also features a Pilates & Pretzels class that requires tickets. Highlights include a Best Dressed Dachshund contest and dachshund races, with advance registration required for the races, from preliminaries to finals. Families will find a makers market, kids sack races, and a craft table, along with cotton candy and snow cones. Oktoberfest Dachshund Races 2026

Returning for its second year, the dachshund races bring Oktoberfest weekend to life at DESTIHL Beer Hall. Advance registration is required to race and costs $10 per dog, and space is limited. The festivities start with a best dressed contest for dachshunds in Oktoberfest attire, continue with preliminary heats, and wrap up with the final round. Each racing dog must have two handlers, one to release at the start and one to receive at the finish. Receivers may encourage their dog with toys, treats, or verbal cues, but throwing objects is not permitted. Anyone entering multiple dogs should bring enough people to manage them safely. Spectators can enjoy a stein and cheer from the sidelines as the dogs take over Oktoberfest weekend.

In the Author's Corner, presented by BOBZBAY, four featured authors appear in 45 minute slots for readings, signings, meet and greets, and conversation, with a digital schedule available throughout the day. The Community Book Swap is open to all, simply bring a book and take a book. Additional vendors and activities will be announced.
