📰 In the news
Spotlight on standout employers: The Indiana Chamber has announced its 2026 Best Places to Work list, and five Evansville businesses made it. Rankings will be revealed May 13 at an awards dinner — see how winners were chosen.
Literary voices take the stage: EVPL revealed its 2026 SPEAK lineup featuring Sarah Adams, Patrick Griffin, Candace Fleming, and Toni Tipton-Martin. Adams will speak April 23 at Old National Events Plaza, with events through July — check out the full lineup.
Major urban revitalization effort: Earlier this month, Evansville Regional Economic Partnership updated River Vision plans for a riverfront park with walkways and an amphitheater, and said funding for construction drawings is the next step — see what’s planned and where.
Honoring standout student scholars: This month, four Evansville seniors at Mater Dei and Reitz Memorial were awarded Father Endress Scholarships worth $10,000 annually for up to four years, marking the program’s fifth consecutive year — meet this year’s recipients.
Gold & silver are hot: Coming off gold’s best year since 1979, the momentum is carrying well into 2026 with silver remaining one of the most talked-about assets. Curious why precious metals are back in focus? American Hartford Gold has a free guide that explains what’s happening and how people are approaching it today. It’s free – and definitely worth a read.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Nothing prepares you for a pet emergency: I learned that the hard way after charging $10k to a credit card for life-saving surgery on my cat, Miss Stache. As soon as we got home, I signed up for Spot. It’s super affordable – and reimburses up to 90% of the bill.

Highlights this week:

🫶 We got your back
Renowned voices take the stage: VOCES8 performs a free concert today at St. Benedict Cathedral in Evansville. The acclaimed British vocal ensemble, known for tonal clarity and inventive programs, appears as part of the Patricia H. Snyder Concert and Lecture Series. The event is open to the public. See when and where.
Rainforest vibes in Indiana: Orchid Escape is underway at Mesker Park Zoo and runs through March 14. Explore the Amazonia Exhibit filled with hundreds of blooming orchids. Entry is free for members and included with general admission. A bright splash of color during winter for Evansville families. Get all the event details.
Handmade chocolate tradition: When cravings strike, Stephen Libs Finer Chocolates keeps Evansville stocked with small-batch favorites: old-fashioned turtles, meltaways, cremes, truffles, sugar-free picks, plus fresh-roasted nuts. Boxes have a way of disappearing on the ride home, which feels like the sweetest mystery.
Make room, then roam: Camilla’s Closet packs racks of men’s, women’s, and kids’ styles, plus designer handbags, home decor, and an on-site jeweler (hi, Curt). Bring a few pieces to rehome, wander a bit, and you’ll likely leave with something you needed… maybe even a story.
What do people see when they search your name? Search results can surface past mistakes or outdated information that no longer reflects who you are. BetterReputation helps remove and clean up unwanted content so your online presence matches your real life today. Not worried about yourself? Doesn’t hurt to mention it to family or friends who might be.
Take control of your credit card debt: High interest can keep you stuck paying more than you need to. A balance transfer card with 0% intro APR until 2027 and no annual fee gives you time to pay down what you owe without interest working against you. By transferring your balance, more of your payment goes toward the principal so you can actually make a dent in what you owe.
