Drummer Nate Smith appears with alto saxophonist Hailey Niswanger, bassist Chris Morrisey, and James Francies on piano, keys, and synth. Smith is a Grammy-winning musician, bandleader, composer, and producer whose cross-genre career has made him a highly sought collaborator. Raised in Norfolk, Virginia and immersed in music from his teens, he joined Betty Carter’s Jazz Ahead and performed with her at the Blue Note in New York at age 20. He began professional songwriting and production in 2001 with Michael Jackson’s Heaven Can Wait, toured internationally with Dave Holland’s band starting in 2003, and launched his recording career in 2008 as a solo artist before forming KINFOLK. Honors include two Grammy nominations in 2017 for KINFOLK: Postcards from Everywhere for his composition Home Free (for Peter Joe) in arrangement and instrumental composition categories, and a 2011 nomination with the Dave Holland Octet for Best Large Jazz Ensemble Album. His collaborations span Brittany Howard, Pat Metheny, Ravi Coltrane, Van Hunt, Childish Gambino, Norah Jones, Jon Batiste, Vulfpeck, Lauren Daigle, the Fearless Flyers, Chris Potter, Kiefer, CARRTOONS, Charlie Hunter, and Kurt Elling. He has appeared on the cover of Modern Drummer and has provided the backbeat for the Late Night with Seth Meyers house band. Through widely shared instructional videos, he has become known for clarifying complex rhythms. That teaching thread runs through Pocket Change in 2018, a project that combines breakbeats and a transcription book, and its 2023 follow-up, Pocket Change 2: Mad Currency. His latest album, LIVE ACTION, takes a producer-led approach, connecting relationships built over the past several years, many formed through social media. Guests include horn players Josh Johnson and Marquis Hill, rapper JSWISS, guitarists Charlie Hunter and Lionel Loueke, bassists Michael League, Ben Williams, and CARRTOONS, keyboardists DJ Harrison and Kiefer, the vocal group säje, Jermaine Holmes, and Lalah Hathaway, who delivers a daring reinterpretation of Automatic by the Pointer Sisters. Pallbearer appears with Ordh. The band is marking a newly reconstructed edition of its album Foundations of Burden, rebuilt from the original recording sessions with updated mixes, new mastering, and artwork by painter Benjamin Vierling. The six tracks total about 55 minutes. This edition was produced by the band, mixed by Mario Quintero of Spotlights, and mastered by Adam Gonsalves. Admission is 16 and over, with attendees under 16 permitted when accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Daniel Donato’s Cosmic Country and Molly Tuttle share the stage for a special co-headline show at Cincinnati’s Taft Theatre, pairing Donato’s high-energy Cosmic Country with Tuttle’s GRAMMY-winning bluegrass roots and thoughtful songwriting for a wide-ranging, genre-blending concert. Led by guitar standout Daniel Donato, Cosmic Country brings a rock-forward drive, country twang, and melodic hooks. Horizon, his second album of all-original songs on Retrace Music, follows 2023’s Reflector and accompanies national momentum that includes appearances on CBS Saturday Morning and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s online music series. Donato came up in Nashville, busking as a teenager and playing hundreds of nights at Robert’s Western World with the Don Kelly Band. Onstage he is joined by Nathan "Sugarlegg" Aronowitz on keyboards, guitars, and vocals, Will "Mustang" McGee on bass and vocals, and Will "Bronco" Clark on drums, percussion, and vocals, packing venues around the country with an adventurous take on American roots. Molly Tuttle performs on the heels of two GRAMMY wins with her band Golden Highway and a Best New Artist nomination, with her fifth album So Long Little Miss Sunshine earning broad acclaim. Recorded in Nashville with producer Jay Joyce, it expands her sound into Americana, country, rock, and fleet flatpicking while reflecting on self-acceptance and reinvention shaped by her lifelong experience with alopecia areata. The album received two GRAMMY nominations, including Best Americana Album, and its single That’s Gonna Leave A Mark was nominated for Best Americana Performance, spent four weeks at number one on Americana Radio, and debuted in the Top 20 at AAA. A trailblazing instrumentalist who began performing at fifteen, Tuttle was the first woman to win the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Guitar Player of the Year in 2017 and won again the following year, and she is also an Americana Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year. CCM Philharmonia and CCM Musical Theatre unite for a concert performance of Lerner and Loewe’s Brigadoon as part of the CCM Musical Theatre and Orchestra Series. With music by Frederick Loewe and book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner, and original dances created by Agnes DeMille, this presentation highlights the classic score under the music direction and baton of Ian Axness, with stage direction by Eric Byrd. Holy Heat Music Fest returns to Cincinnati for its second annual celebration at The Hamilton County Fair Grounds, bringing high energy, faith-centered music, and a strong sense of community. Joined by Jeremy Manasia on piano and Fender Rhodes, Isaac Levien on bass and electric bass, and Ryan Sands on drums, he treats Dylan’s catalog as living material, turning well-known pieces like Blowin’ in the Wind, The Times They Are A-Changin’, Like a Rolling Stone, Mr. Tambourine Man, and Hurricane into platforms for vivid improvisation while honoring the storytelling at their core.
