CrowPi Code Lab (Ages 12-17)

CrowPi Code Lab offers a hands-on STEM workshop for middle and high school students. Participants dive into coding and electronics with Raspberry Pi 5 and the CrowPi Advanced Kit, learning how software and hardware connect by writing Python that controls sensors, lights, motors, and more. Ideas move from imagination to working code as campers tackle real-world style challenges. Throughout the program, students build and test small projects like motion sensors, temperature trackers, alarms, and interactive displays. They work with buttons, buzzers, LED matrices, cameras, and RFID readers while practicing core programming skills such as variables, loops, conditionals, and input and output. When something does not work right away, it becomes a chance to iterate and improve. The lab emphasizes creativity, experimentation, and logical thinking. No prior experience is required. By the end, participants gain a practical understanding of how modern devices collect data, make decisions, and respond to their environment.

Drawing on the Atlanta Streets Come A-Live model, the experience blends literacy, art, guided conversation, interactive activities, and connections to places around the city to spotlight local history, culture, and voices. LaSport MTB Race Series

LaSport Cycling Club is organizing a three race mini series created to help new riders gain confidence in mountain bike competition. Each event takes place at 1 North Adventure Trails in Blanchard, with courses planned to pass viewing areas several times so spectators can stay involved throughout the action. Categories include separate divisions for men and women across First Time Racer, Novice (Cat 3), Sport (Cat 2), and Expert (Cat 1), plus an open Class 1 e-bike division. The first race is a dirt criterium on an approximately three mile loop that blends quick doubletrack around the lake with smooth, flowy singletrack, with lap counts by category set at two for First Time Racers, three for Novice, four for e-bike and Sport, and five for Expert. The second event uses a green loop to introduce a bit of technical riding while keeping the trail smooth and the distance short so riders can focus on fundamentals, and a unique twist may be announced. The third race follows a classic cross country format and uses more of the trail system, with distances to be determined. The series centers on welcoming beginners, building skills and confidence, and encouraging participation in the local scene and regional circuits around NWLA.
