Earth, Moon, and Sun
Discover how the Earth, moon, and sun create familiar sky patterns in a lively full-dome planetarium program. Guided by Coyote, the trickster figure from Native American stories whose misconceptions are gently corrected, the show explains lunar phases, eclipses, day and night, and the changing seasons. A live, guided look at Maine’s sky caps the experience with standout constellations for a concise astronomy lesson. Tickets are $7 for adults, $6 for UMaine students, veterans, and senior citizens, and $5 for children under 12. Purchase online, by calling 207.581.1341, or at the ticket box office before the show.

Enjoy a lively Bangor Contra Dance at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Bangor, featuring music by The Newell Family Band and calling by Julie the Mirthful. The evening begins with an optional community band practice where musicians can learn tunes, get in some practice, and ask questions. A family friendly community dance with simple, accessible figures follows, and participants are welcome to bring an instrument and join the open band. The night concludes with a full contra dance. Admission to the community dance is $2, with free entry for children under 10. The contra dance uses a pay-what-you-can approach with a suggested donation of $15 to $25, supporting the performers and ongoing programming.
