Knittin’ for Kittens and Crochet for Cats brings crafters and animal advocates together to support the Old Town Animal Orphanage. Enjoy a Granny Square Showcase and an amigurumi contest where visitors can admire handmade work and vote for their favorites. A raffle of donated knitted and crocheted items will raise funds for the animals, with tickets priced at $1 each or six for $5. Handmade items are welcome for donation and may be dropped off at the Old Town Public Library or the Old Town Animal Orphanage. Entry space for the contest is limited. Organized by BARN, Wellspring, Together Place, Bangor Public Health and Community Services, ME-RAP, and Penquis SAY, this free, community-wide celebration at the Bangor Waterfront honors National Recovery Month and is regarded as the largest recovery gathering in Maine. All are welcome, including individuals in recovery, family and friends, professionals in the field, and anyone who believes in recovery. The day features live music and entertainment, uplifting speakers sharing recovery journeys, family-friendly activities, a variety of community resource booths, a cornhole tournament, and complimentary burgers and hot dogs. The focus is on celebrating recovery, reducing stigma, and helping people connect with the support and services that make recovery possible.

A community celebration highlights Bangor’s new Community Mural by acclaimed Maine artist Rachel Gloria Adams, created in collaboration with the Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce. This large-scale piece transforms a prominent downtown wall into a colorful tribute to the city’s people, places, history, and culture. Patterns contributed by five Bangor-area artists are woven into the design, bringing multiple perspectives together in one vibrant work of public art. The gathering offers a chance to meet the artists, enjoy a beverage and a snack, see the completed mural up close, and snap photos. Drinks are donated by Orono Brewing Company. There is a suggested $5 contribution for entry, and drinks are available for a suggested $5 each, with proceeds supporting Bangor Beautiful and future community projects. Visitors can also learn about Bangor Beautiful, hear the story behind the mural, and discover ways to get involved in creating more public art and beautiful community spaces across Bangor. 40 FINGERS is an Italian quartet of guitarists known for inventive reinterpretations of well known rock and pop songs, along with film and TV soundtracks. Their performances have attracted millions of views on social media. Queen highlighted the group’s arrangement of Bohemian Rhapsody on the band’s website. They have also collaborated in duets with Andrea Bocelli, U.S. singer Tory Kelly, and Andy Summers of The Police, partnering with Summers to revisit Bring on the Night.

Enjoy a welcoming women’s breakfast at Husson Dining Center, featuring a full meal for $8 and plenty of friendly conversation. It offers an easygoing setting to meet new people, share some laughs, and leave feeling encouraged. All women are welcome.

Elmo’s Got the Moves brings Elmo and his Sesame Street friends to the Cross Insurance Center stage in a new Sesame Street Live production with singing, dancing, and songs including "Sunny Days," "Elmo’s Got the Moves," and "Letter of the Day." The experience is designed for families to laugh, learn, and play together. Please note that the performance uses flashing lights, haze or fog, and confetti. Children younger than 2 do not need a ticket if seated on a parent’s lap. Group discounts are available.

AIGA Maine hosts a no-cost coworking session for students and creative professionals at Bangor Public Library. The format is open and unprogrammed, so you can bring a laptop, concentrate on personal projects, and choose quiet focus, easy conversation, or a bit of both. There are no scheduled talks, no set agenda, and no expectation to network unless you want to.
