Family events in Winthrop, ME

Created for children ages 1 to 3, this toddler story time supports early language and literacy growth. Participants sing songs, enjoy books together, and learn nursery rhymes while engaging with other kids and their caregivers.

A support group for youth ages 9 to 13 who have been affected by the October 25, 2023 mass shooting. It welcomes those who were there as well as those impacted in other ways, such as through a family member’s involvement, the loss of someone close, a shaken sense of safety, or the wider effects felt across the community. A parent or guardian must stay on site for the entire meeting. ASL interpretation is available upon request. Families can expect a short and lively story time with 20 to 25 minutes of stories, songs, and social fun. The program is geared to children ages 3 to 5 and their caregivers.

This story time offers stories, songs, and playful activities for children ages 3 to 7 with a parent or caregiver. The focus is on thoughtful themes such as recognizing and managing feelings, practicing mindful breathing, and using positive affirmations, creating a welcoming space to explore big emotions together.

Caregivers with babies from birth through 18 months can enjoy an interactive time with songs, stories, and playful activities, followed by open play. The session supports early literacy and provides an opportunity to connect with other families while celebrating your little one.

At Capitol Park, the annual NAMI Maine Walk brings people from across the state together to champion mental health, strengthen community, and open pathways to support. The day begins with a short, under-one-mile walk on the park’s paved paths, followed by a family-friendly festival. The gathering is open to the public and will be held rain or shine. Leashed dogs are welcome and encouraged. Event photography may occur, and images may be used for marketing such as websites, social media, news, and advertising. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Youth Services opens the program room for two hours of independent play, coloring, and relaxed social time for families who want to connect. Everyone is welcome, although the toys are especially suited to infants and toddlers.
