The Runaway Maine Music Fest returns with two full days of live music, food trucks, and a bustling vendor village. Set on the grounds of the former Twitchell Airport in Turner, Maine, the event offers free onsite parking and a welcoming festival atmosphere. This is a BYOB gathering, and the parking lot and food trucks open two hours before the main gate each day to allow time for tailgating and socializing. Coolers may be brought into the venue for a $10 cash fee per cooler and will be checked to ensure there is no glass. Glass bottles, containers, and cups are not permitted anywhere on the property, including the parking lot. Friday features performances by Bryan Martin, Cole Barnhill, Katie Noel, and The Real Young Swagg. Saturday brings Sister Hazel, Marcy Playground, Sponge, and Toby McAllister & The Sierra Sounds, along with additional supporting acts. The festival is open to all ages, with free admission for children 12 and under. Attendees under 21 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. The event takes place rain or shine. Pets are not allowed, except for ADA service animals. All sales are final, and tickets are non transferable and nonrefundable.

With a properly sized adult hoop and step by step guidance from Amanda of Spin Art Hoops, beginners quickly find their rhythm. Learn both on body and off body skills, using your arms, legs, and core to keep the hoop moving, all while burning about 420 calories per hour. Hoops are provided for use during the session, and there are options to buy one. No prior dance or hoop experience is required.

At Capitol Park, the annual NAMI Maine Walk brings people from across the state together to champion mental health, strengthen community, and open pathways to support. The day begins with a short, under-one-mile walk on the park’s paved paths, followed by a family-friendly festival. The gathering is open to the public and will be held rain or shine. A crime has rocked Munchkin Land, and the Wizard is seeking help to unmask the culprit and choose a new Wizard of Oz. This interactive murder mystery dinner at Hoppers at Apple Valley Golf Course blends hidden clues, shady characters, and twists along the Yellow Brick Road with plenty of good food. No one is above suspicion, and in Oz appearances can be deceiving, so participants will follow the evidence and test their theories in hopes of cracking the case. An evening of mystery, laughter, and Oz-inspired fun awaits.

Celebrating its tenth year, this scholarship golf tournament features a shotgun-start scramble. The entry price is $85 per player, which includes green fees, a golf cart, and a buffet lunch.

Create your own pottery in a two-part class that starts with making your pieces and continues a couple of weeks later with glazing. During the first session you can shape up to three items, such as a cup, bowl, or vase, using three clay balls of about 1.25 pounds each. Guidance with the wheel is available as much or as little as you want, whether you prefer complete independence or extra help for a more refined result. After the first firing, return within 30 days to glaze your work. Everything is fired a second time, and then you will come back to pick up the finished pieces. You may make additional items for $10 each to cover glazing and firing. Short fingernails are recommended. Wear clothes that can get messy and bring an old towel or rag for wiping clay from your hands. Class size is limited to five participants, and spots often fill two to three weeks ahead. Pieces must be glazed and picked up within 30 days, or they may be discarded due to limited storage.

BMW, short for Breau Miller West, brings a trio performance to the Franco Center. The group features local musicians Denny Breau, Mark Miller, and Arlo West. Settle into an hour of gentle yoga led by Certified Yoga Teacher Emma Samson in a peaceful outdoor setting with mountain views. Each session is welcoming to beginners and concludes as the sun sets, opening up expansive views of Western Maine from the top of the orchard. The class meets at Ricker Hill Orchards in the pick-your-own apple area at the hilltop. Follow the Yoga signs all the way up and park on the grass in the orchard.
