Taking place over Father's Day weekend, this family friendly food truck festival raises funds for Saline Area Social Service. A large lineup of vendors serves a broad range of flavors, with vegan, gluten free, dairy free, and other allergen friendly selections available. Ten percent of all food truck sales support SASS. Adults will find a beer barn with cold drinks, and every dollar of its profits benefits SASS. Live music keeps the energy up with popular songs from the 80s, 90s, and 2000s. Young attendees can enjoy a dedicated kids area and a touch a truck experience that lets them check out impressive vehicles. An Adult Field Day Contest adds extra excitement. The entry fee is 20 dollars, the prize pool awards half of all contest fees to the winners, and the remaining half goes to SASS. Admission is five dollars for anyone 16 and older, while children 15 and under enter free. An immersive solstice-themed session led by Sarah and Vinnie weaves breathwork, alignment-focused yoga, music, and intuitive, fluid movement to encourage a playful, grounded reconnection with the body and to create room for both intentional and instinctive motion. Breath is used as a gateway into the body while movement helps ease stress, shift stuck energy, spark creativity, and tap into more candid self-expression. Expect periods of settling, flow, strength, rhythm, reflection, and release, all held by music and a supportive group atmosphere. The emphasis is on listening rather than performing. Instead of striving to get it right, participants are invited to soften, tune inward, and let movement become a channel for expression and for settling the nervous system into a felt sense of aliveness. Explore unarmed, close-quarters movement for the stage with a focus on safe brawling techniques. This monthlong unit builds foundational skills that lead to a choreographed piece at the end of the month. Attending once a week is recommended for steady progress, but each class is structured so drop-ins can participate at any point. Each session runs for three hours with a clear progression. The first hour focuses on drills and skill development. The second hour features a rotating instructional topic. The final hour alternates between open practice time and choreography work. Pricing options are available. First-time introductory classes are free. Single drop-ins are $25. Unlimited monthly training is $100, and a four-class pack is $60, both designed to lower the cost per class. Attendance is limited due to Covid safety measures. If attending in person is not possible, remote submissions with a short song and a brief monologue in the character’s style are accepted. The process includes acting and singing, with sides provided in the room. No advance appointment is required. As the frontman of Belikos, he appeared at major festivals and venues including Virgin Mobile Free Fest, CMJ, Webster Hall, and Afro-Punk Festival, sharing bills with Ludacris, Mos Def, M.I.A., LCD Soundsystem, and Joan Jett. He went on to release two mixtapes with the Brooklyn duo Duk Duk Goose! and hosted the raucous Underground Rebel Bingo Club in cities from Manhattan to London, Ibiza to Beijing. He co-wrote and performed on Labyrinth from Miracle Musical’s Hawaii: Part II with Joe Hawley and Charlene Kaye, a track that has surpassed 100 million streams. He also teamed with Knock The Vandal on Dreams of the Dead, a project that had not been performed live before this point. After years in New York and Los Angeles, he returned to Michigan, and his forthcoming solo album, The Death Of The Party, explores identity, trauma, addiction, and transformation set to upbeat, dance-friendly production. Former students of Professor Harry Sargous gather at Kerrytown Concert House to celebrate the life and legacy of the renowned oboist and teacher, who passed away in May 2025. Sargous served as principal oboist of the Toronto Symphony from 1971 to 1982, then joined the University of Michigan faculty in 1982, shaping generations of musicians through a career recognized around the world. The recital features music he commissioned, recorded, and championed, including the Schumann Romances, Dialogues by Leslie Bassett, works by Bach and Hindemith, a newly commissioned piece for this occasion by Lavinia Kell Parker, and William Bolcom’s Graceful Ghost Rag. Performers include oboists Michael Byrne, Stephen Caplan, Geralyn Giovanetti, Vicky Velich Hamrick, Robin Johnson, Judi Jones, Amy Brouch Kesler, Lorraine Duso Kitts, Liz Tomorsky Knott, Robin MacMillan, David Sussman, and Tricia Wlazlo, with Kristin Reynolds on English horn, Anthony Elliott on cello, Matt Harvell on basso continuo, and Brad Parker on piano. Elizabeth Stoyanovich serves as conductor, and Lavinia Kell Parker is listed as composer. Honoring Sargous’s work behind the camera, a display of his art photographs will be on view, with notecards and prints available for purchase. Matt Watroba marks two milestones at The Ark in Ann Arbor, celebrating 40 years in radio and 50 years as a performer. A longtime steward of American folk and roots music, he has shaped a distinctive onstage approach informed by decades behind the microphone and on the road. Since 1986 he has produced and hosted thousands of radio programs for WDET, WEMU, and WKSU, and created syndicated shows for Sing Out! Radio Magazine and Folk Alley. His current program, Folk With Matt Watroba, airs on Michigan State Public Media WKAR in East Lansing. In 2019 he and lifelong musical partner Robert Jones co-founded the Detroit nonprofit Common Chords, and that same year he was inducted into the Folk DJ Hall of Fame at the Folk Alliance International conference in Montreal. This event honors a career devoted to sharing songs and encouraging communities to sing together, one town at a time.

The space begins by establishing shared agreements. Expect a consent-first culture, a sober setting, silence on the dance floor, a nonjudgmental attitude, and no photography or video during open dance. This edition features Ralston Bowles, Sari Brown, Mike Savina, and Nicholas James Thomasma. Guided early by a father who played fiddle, guitar, and banjo in the Appalachian hills before moving to Gary, Indiana for mill work, Ralston Bowles began performing professionally at 16 with a story song for a neighborhood gathering. He went on to play clubs and coffeehouses throughout the Midwest, writing about the people and places he encountered, and is widely regarded as an elder voice in Michigan folk who offers steady guidance to fellow artists. Sari Brown weaves layered sound and vulnerable storytelling to create spaces for healing and reflection. Her path spans cultures, including work in South America as an anthropological researcher and activist and in Michigan as a musician and pastor, and her influences blend Motown, mystical chants, and Andean folkloric dance. She founded The Healing Feast, an organization and event series devoted to abundance, creativity, nourishment, and connection with self, community, the earth, and the sacred. Guitarist Mike Savina, sometimes called a tone farmer, performs under the name miglodesh and continually explores new textures, tonalities, and modalities. His approach yields intricately shaped guitar music with a distinct sonic character. Traveling in a bright orange 1973 Volkswagen Bus, Nicholas James Thomasma blends stories and songs with a playful sense of humor rooted in real life. He facilitates programs with Huco Songs, the Port Austin Artist in Residence Songwriting Retreat Weekend, the Earthwork Songwriters Summit for Resilience, and Wheatland Music Organization's Summer Wheat Music Camp. He also curates the Songtellers songwriter in the round series and currently serves as Interim Executive Director of the Michigan Music Alliance. Together, these artists share the stage in the spirit of cooperation, using music to build relationships and uplift community, environment, and justice.

Ally the Piper brings her forward-looking approach to the Great Highland bagpipe to The Blind Pig, blending classic rock and heavy metal with a spirited Celtic rock twist. With millions of followers online and a career spent largely as a professional bagpiper, she shares her love of the instrument through energetic, inventive arrangements that have earned nods from Metallica, Iron Maiden, Dragonforce, and The Charlie Daniels Band. In addition to her bagpiping, she sings and performs on traditional Celtic instruments including the Irish flute, whistles, and small pipes, pairing well-known favorites with original material for a contemporary take on tradition. Girl Named Tom showcases the sibling harmonies of Bekah, Caleb, and Joshua Liechty with a warm blend of folk and pop. After growing up making music together, they officially launched the band in 2019, hitting the road on a self-funded tour and releasing their debut EP, Another World. They went on to become the first group champions on The Voice, then sold more than 100,000 tickets across 40 states, headlined national tours, and performed at the Grand Ole Opry, the Indianapolis 500, and on The Ellen Show. They have also shared the stage with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra, Kelsea Ballerini, Lady A, and Pentatonix. In 2026 they are touring nationwide to promote their new album, Dust to Dust, bringing tight harmonies and heartfelt songwriting to audiences.

Low Key D&D for Adults
Settle in for a relaxed Dungeons & Dragons mini-campaign at YDL-Michigan in Meeting Room 2. This nine-week series welcomes newcomers and seasoned players alike and is guided by guest Dungeon Master Terance Gordon, a 2025 to 2026 Teaching Artist with 826michigan. Expect a gentle introduction to game mechanics, character creation, and exploring the story world. While each meeting connects to the previous one, participants can come and go as needed without losing their place. Registration is required so staff can prepare materials, and all essentials are supplied, including dice, character sheets, and rules. Capacity is limited to six participants. If interest exceeds that number, a parallel group may be arranged. Those with DM experience can note their willingness to volunteer during registration.
