Suite Surrender

Set in 1942 at a luxurious Palm Beach resort, two rival Hollywood icons are assigned the same suite by mistake, and the hotel staff scrambles to keep them apart. Assistants juggle crises, bellhops plot quick fixes, and a frazzled manager navigates the commotion as close calls mount. Written by Michael McKeever, this high-spirited farce nods to classic screwball comedies with swift momentum, period glamour, and big laughs. The headlines are loud, but the drama is louder. Rated PG-13.

Petal Pixels - Holland in Bloom

A full-day floral photography workshop unfolds in Holland, MI during Tulip Time, led by PROCAM Ann Arbor’s Travis Howell with support from Sigma Lenses. Participants move through varied shooting environments while working with composition, color, scale, and changing light. Sigma representatives provide loaner lenses for hands-on trials, and PROCAM offers free rentals, creating an easy way to experiment with gear. The morning focuses on tulips at Windmill Island Gardens with De Zwaan as a striking backdrop. From there, the experience shifts into the city to capture downtown streets, historic architecture, canals, and flower-lined neighborhoods, with an emphasis on storytelling, candid moments, and environmental details. Midday includes a break at a local Holland restaurant to recharge, review images, and discuss creative approaches. As evening arrives, attention turns to the Macatawa River and concludes with a fireworks display, applying low light techniques, long exposures, and thoughtful framing for a different kind of challenge. By the end, participants will have photographed a complete arc of the day, from soft morning glow and vibrant color to motion and contrast after dark, reflecting the spirit of Tulip Time and the brief beauty of spring. Attendance is limited to keep guidance personal and hands-on. A pre-workshop meet and greet and briefing hosted by Travis covers the plan for the day and offers time for questions. Advance registration is required, and an early registration discount of 25 dollars is available. This workshop is designed to be accessible, so bring whatever camera you are comfortable using, whether a DSLR, mirrorless, or an advanced compact, along with fully charged batteries and a spare. Useful lenses include a standard zoom such as 24 to 70 millimeters or equivalent, a telephoto for compression and details, prime lenses, and an optional macro for close-up tulip work. Helpful accessories include a lens cloth, a comfortable strap, and a small bag. A tripod, a neutral density or circular polarizing filter, and a remote shutter can be beneficial, especially for evening and fireworks photography. Comfortable walking shoes, weather-appropriate layers, water, and sunscreen are sensible to have on hand. Plan for periods of walking and standing throughout the day. Tripods may be less practical in crowded areas during Tulip Time. There will be opportunities to ask gear-specific questions during the workshop.
