August Historic Marquette Bus Tours
Settle into an air-conditioned Checker bus for a guided ride through town. Along the route, a tour guide shares local history while a few entertaining historic characters make appearances. This 90 minute experience departs from and returns to the MRHC. Tickets are $25. Each summer brings something new to the tour.

Children whose work is part of the Jurassic Art Show can dress up and enjoy refreshments while viewing their pieces with friends and family. There is no admission charge. Submission guidelines include one artwork per child, created at home or during a library program, with a maximum size of 12 by 12 by 12 inches. A completed submission form is required when turning in artwork at the Youth Desk, and printed guidelines are available at the Youth Services Desk. Set by the Portage Canal on Houghton’s waterfront, this downtown market offers a relaxed place to shop with a view. Farmers, artisans, and chefs from across the Keweenaw come together at the Houghton Waterfront Pier to share fresh harvests, handmade goods, and flavorful offerings. Shoppers can pay vendors with cash, check, or card, or stop by the Market Table to use a credit or debit card to buy tokens that spend like cash throughout the market. Many vendors also accept Michigan and Keweenaw food assistance programs.
Downtown Houghton Farmer's MarketSummer Concerts
The NMU Department of Music presents a free public concert in Reynolds Recital Hall as part of its Summer Concerts at Reynolds, with optional donations supporting student learning within the department. This program centers on Fluxus, improvisation, and interactive moments with the audience, featuring Patrick Booth and Keri Lee Pierson. The series highlights NMU music faculty across the season, offering everything from jazz and folk to classical guitar, vocal selections, and a world premiere, creating a welcoming way to enjoy live music while supporting NMU students.
