Routes and distances adjust to what the group feels like doing, and sometimes participants split into smaller groups by pace and distance while other times everyone stays together. This meetup happens year round in most weather, with exceptions only for very cold or especially rough conditions. All abilities and paces are encouraged to take part, and friendly dogs are welcome. New runners or anyone not ready to run can still stop by the brewery to socialize.

Participants use rib construction to start with an airy framework, pairing a rattan hoop with a weathered piece of driftwood that becomes the focal element. As the weave builds, the shape reveals itself. Instruction covers forming the hoop, positioning and shaping the ribs, and weaving from each end toward the center. Attendees finish with a completed basket and a technique they can apply to future work. All tools and materials are provided, so beginners and experienced weavers are equally supported. Ages 14 and up. Hand dexterity is required. The sample basket measures about 12 inches across, 8 inches deep, and 8 inches high. Class size is limited to 8 participants. A lunch break is included, snacks are provided, and participants may bring their own meal.

A relaxed 2 to 4 mile run sets out from Bemidji Brewing, followed by time at the brewery for a beer or soft drink. All experience levels and paces are welcome, and friendly dogs can come along. Expect a casual atmosphere with roughly 3 to 15 participants. The group goes out in most weather, skipping only when conditions are especially cold or nasty. Distance and pace vary based on what people feel like doing. Sometimes runners split into smaller groups, and other times everyone stays together. If you are new to running or not ready to head out with the group, it is still fine to stop by the brewery for the social portion.

Through a seven step approach, the cohort covers how credit works and ways to strengthen a score, how to craft a sustainable homeownership budget, how to compare lending options with confidence, how to get ready for construction or purchase, and how to make sound financial choices. Leech Lake Financial Services provides whole-person and whole-family support so participants move forward together. This is a four-part series, with two sessions focused on Financial Wellness and two on HomeChoice, and each session builds on the previous one. Attendance at all four sessions is required. Spend three days exploring sculptural basketry in the Bemidji area, with a welcoming format for complete beginners and returning weavers. The experience begins with a shared project that uses a prepared antler or driftwood base so everyone can start weaving right away. After that first build, participants design their own pieces, selecting from natural materials and drawing inspiration from samples and sketches. Shannon and Jesse offer guidance on structure, proportion, and technique while leaving creative choices in each person’s hands. Most participants complete about three works by the end, and some finish four or five. Registration is $100 and includes all materials, catered lunch and afternoon snacks, use of hand tools such as awls, shears, and soaking tubs, plus a personal respirator mask and safety glasses to take home. Work that involves drilling takes place at a dedicated outdoor station under a tent, and every participant uses their own safety gear. The venue will be a scenic site in the north Bemidji area with accessible bathrooms, ample parking, and outdoor space for the drilling station, with the exact location to be confirmed. The schedule is flexible and open flow, with lunch and breaks built in. Support from the Artists Engage Community grant makes the reduced fee possible, lowering barriers to learning advanced craft skills; without this support, the workshop would otherwise cost between $300 and $400 per person.
