An open mic featuring a random drawing to determine performance order. The event has been full each night. Performers keep sets brief and play two songs per rotation, with a chance at a third selected at random if there is room. The atmosphere is supportive, and it is okay to make mistakes and learn to work through them.

Being Sober and Becoming Happy: A weekend retreat with John MacDougall

A guided weekend retreat with John MacDougall centers on five themes from his book Being Sober and Becoming Happy. Participants review practical essentials for achieving and maintaining sobriety, build spiritual resilience that supports recovery over the long term, explore surrender and trust in a Higher Power, trustworthy people, and in life, seek spiritual healing related to experiences of abuse and trauma, and nurture hope in any circumstance. The program blends lectures with group discussions to foster a supportive learning environment. The fee is $350 per person and includes the retreat, meals, and lodging, and scholarship assistance is available upon request. For those who struggle with substance use, a minimum of 30 days of continuous sobriety is required to attend. The 5th Annual Wayzata Car Show takes place at Wayzata Community Church in partnership with the church, bringing together car and motorcycle enthusiasts to support local high school scholarships for graduating seniors in 2027. Vehicle entries are accepted by free will donation, with a suggested contribution of 15 dollars, and admission for the public is free. All makes, models, years, and motorcycles are welcome. Pre registration with a donation is available through the tickets option, and on site registration will be offered as well. The first 100 cars to register will receive a dash plaque and a small goodie bag. Trophies will be awarded for Best of Show, eight People’s Choice selections, and Best Motorcycle. Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event: Orono/Wayzata

Safely dispose of household hazardous waste at a two-day collection serving the Orono and Wayzata area. Drivers are asked to stay in their vehicles unless instructed otherwise by staff. Load items in the trunk, truck bed, or a trailer, and only bring what one person can lift into a vehicle. Staff will handle most unloading. People arriving by bicycle or on foot are accommodated. Cyclists may use the drive-through route like a car, while those on foot should avoid the active collection zones for safety. Because these materials can be dangerous, pack them to prevent leaks, spills, and breakage. If you cannot attend right away, store your household hazardous waste safely until a future collection, and consult the Green Disposal Guide for storage tips.
