Onstage he shifts among acoustic and electric guitars, clarinet, mandolin, saxophone, bouzouki, pedal steel, and vocals, drawing on experience that spans Grammy-winning and multi-platinum projects. Monique and Chauntee Ross perform as SistaStrings, a sister duo raised in Milwaukee and now based in Nashville. Classically trained on violin and cello, they build on a foundation of gospel to craft a soulful blend that also draws from R&B and hip hop. In a single set they might move from a classical arrangement to pop mashups and original pieces that defy simple genre labels. Their musicianship has taken them into Brandi Carlile’s touring band and onto stages with Ed Sheeran, Maggie Rogers, Margo Price, Allison Russell, Jason Isbell, and Joni Mitchell. They have appeared at the Grammy Awards with Metallica and Joni Mitchell, at the 2024 Oscars with Andrea Bocelli, and at the 2024 Gershwin Honors with Elton John, Annie Lennox, Garth Brooks, and Charlie Puth.
