Live music in Owatonna, MN

The Friends of Downtown Northfield welcome the return of Third Thursday Street Dance at Bridge Square, filling the evening with live music, dancing, great food from nearby restaurants, and craft beverages from the featured Fermentation Friend. This special back to school edition is presented in partnership with local colleges and is free for the entire community. Everyone is welcome. The showmobile stage will be set up in front of the Post Office on Bridge Square. The music features Emperor Tamarin, a jazzy pop group of Carleton students, and Undergrad, a rock band of St. Olaf students. Drinks are served by the Fermentation Friends, with Keepsake Cidery highlighted alongside selections from Northfield’s other breweries. Water and soda are available from Fifty North’s popcorn wagon near the Bridge Square fountain. Picnic tables and red chairs from Age Friendly will be on site, or bring your own seating. Many nearby eateries offer Third Thursday specials, with options like pizza, pho, sandwiches, ice cream, and more within a short walk. A downtown scavenger hunt invites new students and townies to explore local landmarks; pick up a program at the Friends of Downtown on Bridge Square and turn in a completed one for a chance at the prize drawing. Free parking is available in the 5th and Water Street lot and the 5th and Washington lot, with street parking along Division, 4th, and 5th.

The Songs In the Park Music Series wraps up at Veteran's Memorial Park with a performance by the Mankato based band Ian Hilmer and Drivestation featuring Pete Klug. Infinity on Wheels will be on site serving food and drinks. The Janesville Farmer's Market will also be happening alongside the music.

Making its first Northfield appearance, Uncle Muskrat brings the drive and soul of American roots music with a five-part old-time string band. The set honors traditional folk while adding a lively, contemporary spark, drawing on influences such as Doc Watson, Charlie Parr, Dock Boggs, and John Hartford. Audiences can look forward to energetic performances, standout musicianship, and heartfelt storytelling. Tickets are $20 per person. Formed a few summers back, the band has notched sellouts across the state at venues ranging from theaters and clubs to park settings. Tickets are $26.50 for members, $31.50 for non-members, and $21.50 for students, and each price includes a $1.50 processing fee.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kasson marks 150 years with a special anniversary gala focused on gratitude, community, and uplifting music. The evening features live performances by national recording artist Presence Music.
