Wirth on Wednesdays Mountain Bike Race Series: Week 5

Part of the Wirth on Wednesdays series, this installment takes place at The Trailhead in Theodore Wirth Park and is hosted by Loppet Cycle Works. The venue features accessible singletrack including Conundrum, Area 36, and 45 North, all connected by the Grand Rounds, Theodore Wirth Parkway, and Luce Line paved trail network. It is a six-date series that welcomes riders to enjoy a friendly competition on well-loved local trails.

Wednesday Night Group Ride at Gear West

Group rides at Gear West welcome cyclists of all experience levels, with two pace options so everyone can find a comfortable fit. Riders gather in the Gear West parking lot between the Alpine and Nordic shops, then roll out in an A group averaging 19 mph or faster for roughly 30 miles, and a B group averaging 16 to 18 mph with opportunities to shorten the route. Every participant must stop inside the store to sign a season waiver. Helmets are required and lights are recommended. Riders are expected to know the route in case they need to pause for adjustments or become separated from the pack. Shorter route options are available.

Valley Craft & Connect

Gather with people who enjoy crafting, puzzles, and friendly conversation at Valley Craft & Connect. Work on a project in progress, start something new, or see what others are making for inspiration. Basic craft materials will be available, along with puzzles and cribbage boards. The focus is on fellowship and fun in a relaxed setting. Bringing a snack to share is welcome, and attending without one is perfectly fine.

Team Jigsaw Puzzle Contest

Teams of up to four race to finish a 500 piece jigsaw as fast as possible. Top finishers earn prizes, there are also door prizes, and every team keeps the puzzle used in competition. A casual warm-up session with practice puzzles is available before the main contest. All teams work on the same design, kept hidden in a bag until a countdown begins, then a judge oversees progress and records completion times. When a team is done, participants may head out or stay to tackle another puzzle and enjoy a drink. Eating and drinking during the contest is allowed. Box top holders and sorting trays are permitted. Extra lighting that is battery powered and does not affect other teams may be brought, but anything that plugs into an outlet is not allowed. Interfering with or distracting other teams is prohibited. Seating includes a mix of standard and high-top tables, with some shared and some reserved for single teams. Part of Wayzata’s Music by the Lake series, this concert at the Wayzata Depot features +45rpm and supports the Wayzata Rotary Charitable Foundation. Expect a relaxed, family friendly atmosphere with live music and plenty of refreshments, including a brat dinner, beer, wine, and other treats. The event draws a broad mix of locals, students, families, and residents, blending fresh new sounds with familiar favorites from the community’s music scene. Pour Your Own Epoxy™

Take part in a hands-on workshop at Omni Brewing Co. and create a river style epoxy piece of your choice, such as a charcuterie board, lazy susan, clock, key holder shelf, coasters, or a pair of minis. Each project begins with premium black walnut and other fine hardwoods, and you will select up to two epoxy colors on site to customize your design. After class, projects cure for about a week before entering a careful finishing process that typically takes around 8 to 10 weeks, with timing affected by class size and shipping. Completed pieces are shipped to participants once finished. Tickets are nonrefundable. If you cannot attend, you may send someone in your place. Each participant 12 or older needs a ticket, and a couples ticket allows two people to work together on a single project.

Movie in the Park - "How to Train Your Dragon"

August Maple Grove Outdoor Gifting Event

This monthly outdoor gifting event invites people to give and receive items without any buying. It has relocated from the Weaver Lake Elementary parking lot to Lord of Life Lutheran Church in Maple Grove, and it takes place outside in the parking lot with restrooms available. Those bringing items to give arrive first to park and set out their goods, then shopping begins when the event starts. Gifters remain for the full duration and vehicles are released together at the end. There are no donation drop offs, and any items not given away must be taken home. Everyone is welcome. Event rules apply, and failure to follow them can result in not being allowed at future events. Dates are being planned further in advance, but they may change if there are not enough volunteers.

Working in teams, they use hands-on design to build rockets made from straws, simple parachutes, catapults, and flashlights, and they program robots to follow clues and race the clock. The experience wraps up with groups trading and attempting one another's original rooms, filled with crafty traps, surprises, and mind-bending puzzles where creativity and engineering go hand in hand.

Healing Hearts Grief Support Group

St. Croix Hospice bereavement staff lead a monthly, in-person support group focused on navigating grief and loss. Each gathering explores a different aspect of grief and offers guidance for coping with its challenges. Anyone grieving a spouse, parent, child, sibling, friend, or other loved one is welcome. Participants can share their experiences and connect with peers in a supportive setting. Speaking is encouraged, though quiet participation is respected. The group is open to the public, including those who have not received services from St. Croix Hospice. Attend each month or whenever it fits your schedule. Registration is not required.

Tuesday Nite Time Trials

Test your speed and pacing at a friendly 10 mile time trial that adds a focused effort to your riding week. The route follows County Road 24 on an open course with regular traffic, so follow the rules of the road, stay alert around vehicles, and consider using a rear light. The format is an out-and-back, starting and finishing at the same point. This series welcomes riders of all ages and abilities, and both time trial and standard road bikes are permitted. Participants under 18 need a parent or guardian to sign the waiver, and riders younger than 15 must be accompanied on course. Advance online registration is required and there is no on-site sign up. Entry is 25 dollars per race and registration closes a day before the start. Park at Woodridge Church, check in at the back lot, and ride to the start and finish area. Restrooms at the church will be unavailable, so plan ahead. While waiting to start, keep about two bike lengths between bikes. Drafting is not allowed and passes should be made with as much space as is safely possible. Each registration earns an entry in a drawing for a free pair of Julbo sunglasses from Gear West, with the winner announced after the series concludes. Results and any weather-related updates will be posted on the Gear West Facebook page.

Modern Creative: Hands-On Workshop

Fujifilm Product Expert Hayden Goldsworthy leads a hands-on photography workshop focused on breaking creative routines and seeing familiar subjects in new ways. The session opens with an informative classroom presentation, then moves into two outdoor shooting segments on NCE property, weather permitting. Centered on four creative pillars… layering, motion, perspective, and limitation… the curriculum covers techniques such as multiple exposure, long exposure, shutter drag, intentional camera movement, and working within constraints. The approach applies across portraits, landscapes, street photography, travel, and everyday image-making, helping participants make more intentional choices, embrace experimentation, and leave with ideas they can put into practice right away. Registration is $50. Online registration closes in advance, and late registrations or walk-ins may be accommodated if seats remain, with full details available on the event registration page. A selection of Fujifilm GFX and X-mount loaner gear will be available to try throughout the workshop, offering a chance to test equipment in a live shooting environment even if you do not currently use Fujifilm. Those borrowing gear should bring a blank SD card to take images home. The workshop begins in a classroom on the second floor, accessible by stairs or elevator. The hands-on portion takes place outdoors on-site at NCE in the green space behind the building, with flowers and a model available for controlled subject matter alongside natural and manmade elements. This nationwide series spans all 50 states and builds toward a year-end World Championships in Dallas, Texas, where medalists from each division meet in the Champions Division to vie for top honors and bragging rights for their state. Competition is organized by skill level at 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0. Age brackets include 18U, 19 plus, 35 plus, 50 plus, 60 plus, and 70 plus. Players can choose from men’s doubles, women’s doubles, mixed doubles, men’s singles, and women’s singles. State medalists earn special rewards for the 2026 World Championships. Second Annual Strut For Mutts

The Second Annual Strut For Mutts brings animal lovers, adopters, and advocates together for Rescue Network’s signature fundraising walk and run at the Plymouth Hilde Performance Center in Minnesota. This uplifting community gathering celebrates second chances and raises vital support for expanding rescue efforts, with every step on an almost 3K course helping to provide medical care, shelter, and placements in loving homes. In 2025 the organization achieved more than 2,000 adoptions and covered over one million in veterinary expenses, and expectations for 2026 are even higher as more animals are saved, more fosters are recruited, and more lives are changed. Participants may walk in memory of a beloved pet or in celebration of an adopted companion. Dogs that are not aggressive toward people or other animals are welcome, provided they are current on vaccinations and kept on a non-retractable leash at all times. Fundraising is built into registration, with a personal fundraiser created automatically and a default goal of 200 dollars that can be adjusted. Agreement to meet a minimum is required, though there is no penalty if it is not met. Reaching 200 dollars earns a race fee refund. At 300 dollars, the race fee is refunded and a complimentary item from the merchandise stand is included, such as shirts, bags, stickers, or a Shasta Stuffie. At 400 dollars, those rewards remain and the participant may name a future dog or cat. At 500 dollars or more, all previous rewards apply and the participant may name a future litter of puppies or kittens.

Celebrate the Re:ZERO UE24 sealed release at Table Top Tournaments. This event uses a five pack sealed format with three rounds of Swiss and a $35 entry fee. Riebe Run - Walk/Run for Heart Disease

5th Annual Wayzata Charity Car Show

The 5th Annual Wayzata Charity Car Show brings a new day and a venue partnership with Wayzata Community Church. All makes, models, and years are invited, including motorcycles, and the public is welcome at no charge. Vehicle entries are accepted by free will donation, with a suggested contribution of $15, and every dollar supports local high school scholarships for the class of 2027. Advance registration with a donation is available through the tickets link, and same day registration will also be offered. The first 100 registered vehicles receive dash plaques and a small goody bag. Awards include Best of Show, eight People’s Choice winners, and Best Motorcycle, with trophies presented during the event. A rain date is planned.
