MBCT Auditions for "12 Angry Jurors"

Auditions for MBCT’s production of "12 Angry Jurors" take place at Columbia Entertainment Company and will use cold readings from the script. Sides will be available in advance through the audition form for anyone who would like to review material ahead of time, and callbacks, if held, will follow the same format. Casting is open to actors of all genders and backgrounds with no predetermined decisions about gender representation, and the focus is on assembling the strongest ensemble to bring the story to life. Those unable to attend the scheduled sessions may discuss alternative arrangements to be considered. This staging uses Sherman L. Sergel’s adaptation based on Reginald Rose’s original teleplay "12 Angry Men." The story follows twelve jurors deliberating the fate of a 19-year-old accused of murder, where an apparently clear verdict with a mandatory death sentence is challenged when one juror raises reasonable doubt. All twelve juror roles and a courthouse guard are available. The breakdown ranges from a foreman intent on maintaining order to voices that are quiet and hesitant, strong-willed and wounded, logic driven yet biased, shaped by a poor upbringing, practical and fair minded, impatient and jokey, calm and compassionate, observant and courageous in age, loud and prejudiced, grateful and justice minded, and energetic and image focused, along with the guard who oversees the jury room. Audition materials may also ask about comfort with staged physical interaction and preferred pronouns.

The Glow Workshop: Summer Body Care Experience

Craft a personalized glow routine at The Workshop by K&K Co. inside Columbia Mall. This signature summer body care experience invites you to make two custom shimmer products from scratch using clean, vegan, plant-based ingredients. Choose your fragrance profile and the level of radiance for each creation, then blend products that are uniquely yours rather than replicas of anything sold in store. This is more than a craft project, it is your glow routine shaped by your own hands. Create a rich, whipped shimmer body butter infused with fine mica and finished in K&K Co. branded packaging. You will also mix a lightweight, fast-absorbing shimmer body serum formulated with clean carrier oils such as olive, avocado, or sunflower, poured into a 2 oz clear glass dropper bottle labeled for you. Both pieces are handmade and go home with you. Your ticket includes both finished products, a canvas tote to carry everything, a printed glow body care routine card, an apron for the session, light refreshments, and a mirror for photos to capture the results. The experience takes place in the JCPenney wing of Columbia Mall. Capacity is limited to 12 participants per session.

Columbia Ecstatic Dance 1 Year Anniversary

Columbia Ecstatic Dance celebrates one year at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Columbia with a community-focused gathering built around movement, music, and connection. The dance journey is led by DJ Topknot (Courtney Heberlie), a local artist known for skillfully curated selections that blend deep bass, sweeping melodies, and emotional textures to support a powerful release on the floor. The experience closes with a sound healing session guided by Syd Hemwall. The flow of the evening includes doors opening, a group grounding with an altar share to begin, a yoga warmup with Lo, an ecstatic dance set, and a closing circle with sound healing. Attendees are encouraged to bring a yoga mat, a water bottle, comfortable clothing for movement, a clear and open mindset, and a meaningful item for the communal altar. The altar share invites participants of all ages to co-create a centerpiece for the space by briefly sharing a personal item or creative offering such as a song, poem, found nature object, photo, jewelry, or other small treasure. Sharing is optional. Admission is offered on a sliding scale of $15 to $30, with an invitation to contribute what is feasible. No one is turned away for lack of funds, and kids 12 and under are free. The gathering follows three simple principles. Dance barefoot or in socks unless dance shoes are needed for a physical condition. Dance without words, with conversations kept to areas off the dance floor and no verbal instruction during the set. Dance as you are, with no drugs or alcohol, no phones, no photo or video, no scents, and a spirit of respect for self, space, and others. Ecstatic Dance began on Hawaii’s Big Island in 2000 and has since grown worldwide, with shared guidelines that help create a safe and effective experience for participants.

Fiery Legacies: Mozart's 40th & Beethoven's 5th

A powerful musical arc unfolds from Mozart to Beethoven in this orchestral program at The Missouri Theater. It begins with Mozart’s Symphony No. 40, a tempestuous masterpiece that redefined expressive possibilities. The spotlight then turns to Joseph Bologne’s Symphonie Concertantes, performed by sisters Solveig and Linnea Geenen from the local community, music that captures the late eighteenth century’s polish, sparkle, and theatrical flair and that earned admiration across Europe in Mozart’s day. The evening culminates with Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony, recasting Mozart’s legacy into a bold new language that would steer music into the future. A pre-concert talk with the director will be held in the theatre. This event is made possible through the support of the Higday Mozart Trust.

Furniture & Households Essential Drive

Many neighbors lack essential furnishings that make a living space feel like home. Families rebuilding, including those with children, may be starting over with very little, and this drive offers a hands-on way to provide stability and hope. Several churches, including Forum Christian Church, are coordinating home pickups for donated furniture and will deliver items to the Love Seat Furniture Bank, a ministry of Love Columbia. Home pickup is available for larger pieces such as mattresses from toddler to queen, box springs, metal folding bed frames, dressers, couches, love seats, recliners or lounge chairs, small bookshelves, end or bedside tables, and kitchen tables with dining chairs. Furniture should be free of rips, stains, and tears, and come from smoke free and pet free homes. Smaller household essentials are accepted by drop off at Grace Bible Church or Prairie Grove Baptist Church, including silverware, cooking utensils, pots and pans with lids, dishware, baking sheets and pans, hot pads, small appliances like a microwave, toaster, electric skillet, crock pot with lid, or coffee maker, plus bedding and linens such as sheet sets, blankets or comforters, pillows, bath towels, and a shower curtain. Pickup teams will head into the community to collect donations. Trucks and trailers are especially helpful, and this role suits people able to lift and load. A brief time of prayer, vision, and instructions will start the day before teams go out. Sign up is requested through the ticket link so organizers can plan routes and teams.
