06.20.26 Two Comedy Workshops

Two hands-on comedy workshops led by Chris Griggs invite participants ages 15 and up to build skills in improv and standup. Each class is $15, or take both for $25. The improv session is a drop-in format open to all experience levels, focusing on long-form practice that grows into strong, collaborative scenes within a supportive group. The standup session explores what makes comedy work, the essentials of standup, and practical approaches to writing jokes, and attendees can bring their own material to receive feedback from Chris. Griggs is an actor, improviser, and standup comedian from Memphis who now lives in New York. He has studied improv for more than 20 years and standup for over 16, completing training with Second City, UCB, and The People’s Improv Theater. He has taught improv and standup at the PIT for more than 15 years, appeared in short-form improv on the television series World Cup Comedy produced by Kelsey Grammer, and has taught at AMDA College and the New York Conservatory for Dramatic Arts. His screen work includes NBC’s Blacklist along with appearances on Hulu, Starz, Netflix, TV Land, IFC, and more.

Women who experience pelvic floor concerns or notice symptoms during exercise can learn about a focused 8-week add-on program in a free introductory class open to members and nonmembers. The class is led by Marissa McDonald, an ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist with an M.S. in Exercise Science and a Certified Core Confidence Specialist, who brings 15 years of experience in pelvic floor, diastasis recti, and pre and postnatal fitness. Participants will get an overview of how the series differs from typical CrossFit training, time to ask questions, and guidance on rebuilding from the inside out. Cars, Coffee, Cruise and Cookout!

Enjoy a 100-mile cruise that takes about two hours. The group meets at Just Love Coffee Cafe in Tupelo for a brief overview, then departs together. The route travels north on Gloster with a regroup stop at the Natchez Trace Visitor Center, continues up the Trace to Highway 30 toward Booneville, then heads west on 30 to 45 south back into Tupelo. From there, the plan is to take McCullough Blvd 178, rejoin the Trace heading south, exit at Cliff Gookin, and turn into the Sportsplex parking area. An alternate option under consideration would follow the Trace to 25 for a slow roll through Tishomingo, pending local approval. A cookout is planned in the Ballard Park Sportsplex baseball fields parking lot. Burgers and hot dogs will be available with a full range of toppings, along with soft drinks, water, and paper goods. Bringing a canopy and chairs is encouraged for comfort. This gathering also includes the yearly donation and supply drive supporting the Tupelo-Lee Humane Society. Contributions such as pet food, bleach, beds, toys, and other needed items will be collected at the cookout.

AUGUST 21 | Tupelo SuperShow featuring Jerry Lawlers & Jimmy Hart benefiting St. Jude

The Tupelo SuperShow brings Memphis Wrestling together with Pontotoc Run Club for a pro wrestling fundraiser at Tupelo Flea Market supporting St. Jude. WWE Hall of Famers Jerry "The King" Lawler and "Mouth of the South" Jimmy Hart appear as special guests, helping raise funds and taking part in a meet and greet with the Memphis Wrestling roster before the action begins, with a brief signing during the show. The lineup includes Heritage Champion Tim Bosby, Big John Dalton, K-Toomer, Slaughterhouse, Ray Sanders, Xya Wolf, Raven Black and more, and Coach Pillar from the Pontotoc Run Club returns to compete. A multi-person Rumble on the Trail battle royal will decide the first Memphis Wrestling St. Jude Hero Champion and award a new championship belt. Proceeds support St. Jude through the North MS St. Jude Heroes, and sponsorship opportunities are available. Details about the official after party will be announced.

Men's Outing 2026

Hosted by Apostolic Life, this men's outing features a day of fellowship, good food, and friendly competition. Activities include clay shooting, cornhole, and horseshoes, along with time to connect with friends. A classic fish fry will be served with fried fish, hushpuppies, french fries, coleslaw, and more. Proceeds from the event support the purchase of new church vans for Apostolic Life. Tickets are available at three levels: Fish Fry Only for $15, Tournament Games plus Fish Fry for $30, or Clay Shoot plus Fish Fry for $40. Registration is open.
