An inaugural DockDogs Wild Card event arrives in Laconia, New Hampshire, featuring Big Air qualifying waves, Extreme Vertical, Speed Retrieve, and Big Air Finals spanning Pro, Semi Pro, Contender, and Amateur divisions. Strong performances have the potential to qualify teams for the World Championship. Onsite registration and practice are available, with additional practice opportunities planned between waves when time permits. Participation is open to dogs of many breeds and sizes who are at least six months old, and no prior experience is required for handlers. Pre-registration entry fees are $39 per team for adults for Big Air, Speed Retrieve, Extreme Vertical, and Iron Dog, and $19 per team for youth for Big Air with $38 per team for youth for Speed Retrieve, Extreme Vertical, and Iron Dog. Set on the grounds of a classic country estate, this annual car show brings together remarkable automobiles and motorcycles, with examples reaching back to the early 1900s. The Saturday Morning Irregulars will judge the field and name the best car in each category, including Lee Era pre-1913, Plant Era 1914 to 1939, Tobey Era 1940 to 1959, Founding Era 1960 to 1969, Robie Era 1970 to 1989, Sticht Era 1990 to 2000, plus British Car and Other Foreign Car. She Kills Monsters brings humor and heart to the stage as Agnes Evans copes with the loss of her teenage sister, Tilly. After finding Tilly's Dungeons & Dragons notebook, Agnes enters a campaign alive with 1990s pop culture, imagined creatures, and discoveries about Tilly's life, including her identity as a lesbian. As the lines between everyday reality and the game world blur, the story confronts grief, loss, acceptance, and identity through an action filled journey. Written by Qui Nguyen and directed by Jessie Chapman, this production is staged in the Hanaway Theatre at the Silver Center for the Arts. Presented in arrangement with Concord Theatricals on behalf of Samuel French Inc.

The Eagle Pond Authors' Series presents poet, editor, and teacher Ann Hudson at the Silver Center for the Arts for a reading from her books Subtraction Isn’t Always Less, Glow, and The Armillary Sphere, along with other work. A brief question and answer session and a book signing will follow. This event is free and open to all. Books will be available for purchase on site through the Plymouth State University Barnes & Noble Bookstore, and Hudson will sign copies after the reading. Hudson is the author of three poetry collections. The Armillary Sphere, published by Ohio University Press in 2006, was selected by Mary Kinzie for the Hollis Summer Poetry Prize. Glow was published by Next Page Press in 2021, and Subtraction Isn’t Always Less followed with Next Page Press in 2024. Her poems have appeared in Crab Orchard Review, North American Review, Orion, Prairie Schooner, and The Seattle Review. She has received residencies from the Virginia Center for the Creative Arts and the Midwest Writing Center, and she was a finalist for a Dorothy Sargent Rosenberg poetry prize. She grew up in Charlottesville, Virginia. Her teaching spans elementary, middle, and high school classrooms in Atlanta and Chicago, as well as The Young Writers Workshop, a residential writing program for high schoolers. With nearly twenty years in Montessori education, she trains Montessori teachers at MMTTC. She is a senior editor for the poetry journal Rhino and a teaching artist with Hive Center for the Book Arts in Evanston, Illinois.

An eerie presentation explores the stories etched into New Hampshire’s burial grounds through the lens of Buried New Hampshire Vol. 1 and 2. Journey from coastal communities and the White Mountains to the far northern woods, where resting places range from park-like city cemeteries to small family plots and even a lone marker hidden in the forest. Each stone carries a tale of the past, from acts of courage and deep emotion to heartbreaking loss, with some sites preserved in local lore and said to be haunted. Drawing on the research behind Buried New Hampshire, Historical Graves of New Hampshire’s Famous, Infamous and the Odd and Unusual Vol. 1 & 2, authors and photographers Rick Davidson and Bill Thompson spent a year following clues, investigating legends, and photographing cemeteries across New Hampshire. Their work highlights original white settlers, Black people who were both free citizens and enslaved individuals, Native Americans, noted historical figures, victims and perpetrators of crimes, and veterans from the earliest colonial wars through the Revolutionary War. The presentation also looks at names and epitaphs, symbolic artwork carved into stone, and memorial monuments that spark curiosity and encourage learning about the lives commemorated there.
