Family events in Linden, NJ

Little ones and their grownups can move, groove, and sing together in a playful program created for babies and toddlers. Each session features songs, simple activities that build fine motor skills, and dance time for both children and adults. Appropriate for ages 0 to 5, and no registration is required.

Part of the UCPAC Summer Arts Camp Series, this one-week, in-person program welcomes children ages 7 to 12 to explore Latin percussion through active, hands-on learning. Guided by the Percussion Gateway Project, participants get to know the clave as a core rhythm and try out spirited conga grooves while uncovering the history and cultural roots behind the music. Over the week, kids build skills through creative activities and then share their progress in a concluding showcase that includes a pizza party for family and friends. The session runs Monday through Friday. Tuition is $135 per child for the week, with discounts available for enrolling in multiple weeks.

Summer Sounds brings live performances by area bands to Eastman Plaza, and this edition features The Accelerators. Presented in Downtown Cranford, the series showcases community talent. An outdoor movie will be shown at Bishop Andrews Park. Movies are planned to begin in the evening, though exact start times may vary with daylight and permitting conditions. Movies and dates are subject to change based on licensing availability and distribution rights. If inclement weather causes a cancellation, the event may be rescheduled.

This seasonal series fills downtown with live music and dancing, creating a lively backdrop for outdoor dining, shopping, and relaxed strolls. Performances take place in multiple spots, with Quimby Street hosting dancing and community fun throughout the summer and Foundation Park also featuring live music. If it rains, some shows may be postponed to the following day while others may be canceled with no rain date.

In the event of rain or bad weather, the concerts will be relocated to the community center.
