Jed Harrelson and Jerron Paxton and more

At Parker Press Park, a co-bill brings together Nashville-based soul artist Jed Harrelson and the duo of Jerron Paxton with Dennis Lichtman. Harrelson blends soul, rock, and R&B into songs centered on connection, creating a sound that feels both uplifting and familiar. He has independently released 15 songs in the past three years and is currently developing his debut project, recording at home with his brother Hank as engineer. Raised in Texarkana, Arkansas, he refined his craft in Fayetteville before relocating to Nashville in January 2020, and he now tours the country with his band in a gold van nicknamed The Loaf. Paxton and Lichtman are internationally recognized multi-instrumentalists and vocalists whose partnership began with a 2017 video project at the Louis Armstrong House Museum. They have toured throughout the United States and abroad together since 2019, recently released their first full-length duo album, and served as Artists-In-Residence at Symphony Space in New York for the 2024 to 2025 season. Paxton, a Smithsonian Folkways recording artist, shares a wide range of Black folk traditions, from stride piano shaped by New Orleans and New York, to deep blues on guitar and harmonica, to early rural fiddle and banjo music, ragtime, and other turn-of-the-century styles, inviting listeners to absorb this heritage as part of a long American story. Lichtman is a globe-traveling bandleader and a master of clarinet, mandolin, violin, and more. He has led the long-running traditional jazz sessions at Mona’s Bar in New York City since 2007, noted by the Wall Street Journal as a focal point for a rising late-night community of swing and trad jazz players. His credits include work with David Byrne, The Lovestruck Balladeers, Pokey LaFarge, Ghost Train Orchestra, Jim Kweskin, and his own groups The Brain Cloud and Mona’s Hot Four, along with his all-original release Secret Workshop.

Kathleen Parks

Parker Press Park hosts an evening with fiddler, singer, and songwriter Kathleen Parks alongside the Cody Sisters. Parks, recognized for her work with Twisted Pine and Kat & Brad, steps forward with songs that draw from pop, folk, and classic jazz, and a virtuosic fiddle style that blends traditional and modern influences with a strong sense of groove. The Cody Sisters bring sibling harmonies and finely crafted musicianship, with Maddie on banjo, Megan on mandolin, and both trading guitar, while bassist Will Pavilonis rounds out the trio. Raised within Colorado’s folk and bluegrass community and encouraged by a father who played guitar at home and originally held the band’s bass role, their path has been filled with live shows, songwriting, and travel, with festivals like RockyGrass standing out as meaningful moments. Writing together, blending voices on bluegrass stages, and welcoming listeners to share their stories are hallmarks of their approach, and the addition of Pavilonis in 2020 expanded their sound with new layers in the arrangements.

Jay Nash & Garrison Starr

Jay Nash and Garrison Starr share the stage in a co-bill at Parker Press Park. Nash’s path began with childhood listening that shifted from hard rock on a portable record player to the connective spark he found in the Grateful Dead and the introspective songs of Cat Stevens. That discovery led him from his first guitar to finding his voice as a singer, player, and writer, and eventually to stages far and wide. Starr, a Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter and producer, introduced her major-label debut, 18 Over Me, in 1997 on Geffen. Since then she has released over a dozen EPs and LPs, with songs featured across television and film including Grey’s Anatomy, Nashville, Pretty Little Liars, Hart of Dixie, Switched at Birth, Rookie Blue, Army Wives, and Brothers & Sisters, along with campaigns for brands such as Pandora, Virgin Mobile, McDonald’s, and Fisher Price. Together they present a performance that highlights seasoned musicianship, distinct voices, and storytelling that spans rock, folk, and Americana influences.

Herb Alpert & The Tijuana Brass & Other Delights

Herb Alpert takes the stage with an all new Tijuana Brass for the first time in more than 35 years, joined by six accomplished musicians for a 90 minute performance packed with familiar favorites. The set highlights classics such as The Lonely Bull, Spanish Flea, A Taste of Honey, Tijuana Taxi, This Guy’s In Love With You, What Now My Love, Casino Royale, Ladyfingers, and Rise, with a few surprises woven in. Fresh off a milestone year that celebrated his 90th birthday and the 60th anniversary of Whipped Cream & Other Delights, Alpert presents an easygoing program that invites audience interaction. He takes questions about his decades in music, co founding A&M Records, and collaborations with artists like Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, The Carpenters, and Burt Bacharach. A large screen enhances the experience with a rich collage of archival photos, video, artwork, and memorabilia from his long career. A celebrated trumpeter with five number one hits, nine Grammy Awards, 15 Gold albums, and 14 Platinum albums, Alpert has sold more than 72 million records worldwide. With the Tijuana Brass he once outsold The Beatles two to one, and in 1966 he simultaneously placed four albums in the Billboard Top 10 and five in the Top 20. He remains the only artist to reach number one with both an instrumental, Rise, and a vocal recording, This Guy’s In Love With You. In 2016 his Herb Alpert Presents label issued 40 deluxe remasters spanning the full TJB catalog along with his solo releases from the 1970s through the 1990s. Across 50 albums he has also produced for notable musicians including Sergio Mendes & Brasil 66, Stan Getz, Michel Colombier, Gato Barbieri, and Lani Hall, and he co founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss, a home for artists such as Carole King, Cat Stevens, The Carpenters, Sting, Janet Jackson, Peter Frampton, Quincy Jones, Joe Cocker, Sergio Mendes, Billy Preston, The Police, and Sheryl Crow.

Buddy Guy 90

This event centers on the legacy and ongoing artistry of Buddy Guy as he nears 90, spotlighting a trailblazing guitarist whose work reshaped American music. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a driving force behind Chicago’s West Side blues, he has inspired generations of rock and blues artists. His honors include nine Grammy Awards alongside a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, 38 Blues Music Awards, the Billboard Century Award, the National Medal of Arts, and a Kennedy Center Honor. Rolling Stone places him at number 23 on its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. From his beginnings in Lettsworth, Louisiana, where he crafted a two‑string guitar as a child, to his 1957 move to Chicago and recordings with Chess Records, Buddy Guy forged a bold style defined by searing tone, unfiltered emotion, and charismatic stagecraft. That sound expanded what electric blues could express and set a benchmark many have followed. His recent chapters underscore a continuing creative surge, from a Kennedy Center recognition and his memoir When I Left Home to a PBS American Masters profile. Acclaimed albums have marked the way, including Born to Play Guitar, The Blues Is Alive and Well, which earned his eighth Grammy in 2019, and The Blues Don’t Lie, a Billboard number one on the Blues chart in 2022. In 2025 he released Ain’t Done With the Blues, produced by Tom Hambridge and featuring The Blind Boys of Alabama, Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, and Joe Bonamassa. Its lead single, How Blues Is That?, reaffirmed the grit, humor, and wisdom that define his late‑career momentum. Issued on his 89th birthday, the album drew wide acclaim and reinforced his stature as a towering elder of the blues. Around the same time, an appearance in Ryan Coogler’s film SINNERS introduced him to new audiences. A warm tribute to a living legend, this occasion reflects a lifetime devoted to pushing the guitar forward while honoring a promise to keep the blues alive.
