Luther Dickinson and JD Simo

JD Simo and Luther Dickinson team up with drummer Adam Abrashoff for a gritty, groove-heavy take on Hill Country blues, uniting three distinct voices to push roots music forward. Their 2024 release Do The Rump! earned glowing notices for its swampy drive and adventurous spirit, and the single Come On reached number one on SiriusXM’s Bluesville. A second album is already on the way. Dickinson, a four-time Grammy nominee and co-founder of the North Mississippi Allstars, brings deep Southern roots and searing slide work. Simo blends psychedelic color with blues mastery, with credits that span from Phil Lesh to Beyoncé, and his playing supplies the live guitar heard throughout Baz Luhrmann’s Elvis, with a similar role for an upcoming film about Bruce Springsteen’s debut. Abrashoff’s deep pocket binds it all together and fuels wide-open improvisation. They perform only a limited number of dates each year, and every show becomes a high-octane swirl of soul, spontaneity, and swamp-soaked swagger.

Open Studio

An open studio with Haemee Han highlights the work of a public artist, landscape architect, and educator born in South Korea and based in New Jersey. Han works at the meeting point of sculpture and landscape, exploring how objects can read as terrain and how environments can be distilled into intimate, inhabitable forms. Her practice focuses on public space as a place of encounter, where scale, material, and narrative shape shared experience. As the founder of Jaemee Studio and a licensed landscape architect, she creates interactive settings across public installations, garden exhibitions, and built landscapes that encourage movement and conversation. Her training includes a Master of Landscape Architecture from the Harvard Graduate School of Design and a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her work has been shown internationally, including the Chaumont-sur-Loire Garden Festival in France, and in projects throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. Through experiments with form and shifts in scale, and by reimagining familiar objects, she crafts spaces that blur function and imagination and spark dialogue among people and place. An artist talk with Han is also planned at the same location.

Buddy Guy 90

This event centers on the legacy and ongoing artistry of Buddy Guy as he nears 90, spotlighting a trailblazing guitarist whose work reshaped American music. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee and a driving force behind Chicago’s West Side blues, he has inspired generations of rock and blues artists. His honors include nine Grammy Awards alongside a Lifetime Achievement Grammy, 38 Blues Music Awards, the Billboard Century Award, the National Medal of Arts, and a Kennedy Center Honor. Rolling Stone places him at number 23 on its list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. From his beginnings in Lettsworth, Louisiana, where he crafted a two‑string guitar as a child, to his 1957 move to Chicago and recordings with Chess Records, Buddy Guy forged a bold style defined by searing tone, unfiltered emotion, and charismatic stagecraft. That sound expanded what electric blues could express and set a benchmark many have followed. His recent chapters underscore a continuing creative surge, from a Kennedy Center recognition and his memoir When I Left Home to a PBS American Masters profile. Acclaimed albums have marked the way, including Born to Play Guitar, The Blues Is Alive and Well, which earned his eighth Grammy in 2019, and The Blues Don’t Lie, a Billboard number one on the Blues chart in 2022. In 2025 he released Ain’t Done With the Blues, produced by Tom Hambridge and featuring The Blind Boys of Alabama, Peter Frampton, Joe Walsh, Christone “Kingfish” Ingram, and Joe Bonamassa. Its lead single, How Blues Is That?, reaffirmed the grit, humor, and wisdom that define his late‑career momentum. Issued on his 89th birthday, the album drew wide acclaim and reinforced his stature as a towering elder of the blues. Around the same time, an appearance in Ryan Coogler’s film SINNERS introduced him to new audiences. A warm tribute to a living legend, this occasion reflects a lifetime devoted to pushing the guitar forward while honoring a promise to keep the blues alive.

Stage Adda presents Anirban Dasgupta’s Player, a stand-up show that treats laughter like a competitive arena. As someone who once dreamt of a life in sports but found himself onstage at the Soho Playhouse rather than at MetLife, Anirban rewrites the playbook of adulthood and wonders if everything, from comedy to parenting, is essentially a game. The performance unfolds like a live match with the crowd in on every move. Jokes are counted like points, the battle runs until the last punchline, and the room gets swept up in the outcome. Look for comic cautions reminiscent of yellow cards, spirited halftime pep talks, playful trash talk, and even a few jersey swaps, with the audience debating the score right up to the finish. The Contenders

Parker Press Park hosts a night of Americana folk roots with The Contenders, the duo of Jay Nash and Josh Day. Nash has released nine albums and ten EPs, played 900 shows, and traveled 400,000 miles. Day is a drummer whose credits include work with Sara Bareilles, John Oates, Brandi Clark, and Jennifer Nettles. Their road stories span the United States and Europe, from opening for The Milk Carton Kids several times to appearances at Americana Fest with Patti Griffin and a MerleFest moment when Jens Kruger of the Kruger Brothers joined them onstage. Their releases include the EP Meet The Contenders and the debut album Laughing with the Reckless, both greeted with strong critical response. Joey Ryan of The Milk Carton Kids has described the latest album as thriving on real-life connection, with spirited rhythms and close harmonies that echo the duo’s years of gathering with audiences to share songs and stories, finding hope and sometimes heartache in those shared moments. The Honey Badgers open the show. Reviews highlight thoughtful songwriting on The Earth Turns and So Do We, call their sound beautiful under banners like artful, contemplative, or orchestral folk, and praise lyrics that search for hope in turbulent times. Critics also note confident vocal technique, engaging harmonies, and the interplay of male and female voices that feels both vulnerable and assured, supported by expressive guitar work and finely crafted fiddle.

Compagnie Hervé KOUBI: Sol Invictus

Compagnie Hervé KOUBI presents Sol Invictus, a piece named for an unconquered sun that affirms love as a path to peace. Artists from France, Algeria, and beyond fuse contemporary and urban dance with capoeira and martial arts, pairing kinetic movement with striking imagery and distinctive choreography. The performers push the limits of physicality, moving from fracture toward communion to highlight what people share. The music spans a composition by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson with excerpts by Steve Reich and digital composer Maxime Bodson. Koubi describes the work as centered on light, solidarity, and the bonds that unite people, envisioning the sun and the dance as ultimately victorious. The company’s journey is rooted in Koubi’s exploration of heritage. After discovering his Algerian ancestry, he returned to collaborate with streetdance artists from across the Mediterranean, shaping the earlier work What The Day Owes To The Night, inspired by Yasmina Khadra and praised by The New York Times.
