An open studio with Ukrainian-born artist Misha Tyutyunik highlights the cross-disciplinary work of a Brooklyn-based painter, muralist, street artist, illustrator, and virtual reality creator. A Pratt Institute graduate, he collaborates with communities around the globe to realize public artworks and is frequently commissioned by organizations, brands, publications, and private collectors. His practice spans many styles and materials yet maintains a clear personal voice, moving fluidly between community projects, commissioned pieces, and independent studio work. He often partners with youth and neighborhood groups and shows in galleries in New York and internationally. Career milestones include a Fulbright in Ukraine centered on community-engaged public art, selection as one of five artists to redesign a New York City Department of Sanitation truck for the Trucks of Art program, and participation in a Tokyo group exhibition where he auctioned a piece to support children affected by the war in Ukraine. Recent projects feature his largest mural so far, stretching across an entire block in Kensington, Brooklyn for the Department of Transportation with a design shaped through workshops with local students and residents. He also created a mural with the Shaw Middle School community in Spokane through the Washington State Arts Commission, and led nine European artists in producing Garden of Collective Futures at The Standard, East Village as part of an international project backed by an E.U.N.I.C. Cluster.

Compagnie Hervé KOUBI presents Sol Invictus, a piece named for an unconquered sun that affirms love as a path to peace. Artists from France, Algeria, and beyond fuse contemporary and urban dance with capoeira and martial arts, pairing kinetic movement with striking imagery and distinctive choreography. The performers push the limits of physicality, moving from fracture toward communion to highlight what people share. The music spans a composition by Swedish composer Mikael Karlsson with excerpts by Steve Reich and digital composer Maxime Bodson. Koubi describes the work as centered on light, solidarity, and the bonds that unite people, envisioning the sun and the dance as ultimately victorious. The company’s journey is rooted in Koubi’s exploration of heritage. After discovering his Algerian ancestry, he returned to collaborate with streetdance artists from across the Mediterranean, shaping the earlier work What The Day Owes To The Night, inspired by Yasmina Khadra and praised by The New York Times.

Singer-songwriter Reagan Richards, known from the Asbury Park country duo Williams Honor, steps into the spotlight with her solo show Good Morning, Heartache at the Avenel Performing Arts Center. The program features torch songs and classic standards from the Great American Songbook, along with a few carefully chosen extras, performed with her all-star band. Debuting to a sold-out crowd in 2021 under the title With Love, Reagan, the show began as a tribute to her mother, Harriet, a big band singer who shared stages with Les Paul and other bandleaders, and who watched proudly from the front row as Richards sang the songs she learned as a child. When the production returned in 2023, it served as a tribute after her mother’s passing. Selections include classics linked to Judy Garland, Eydie Gormé, Bing Crosby, Billie Holiday, and others. Richards has sung with Les Paul for four years, portrayed Patsy Cline in the two-woman stage production Always, Patsy Cline, and contributed backing vocals for David Gray, Debbie Harry, Johnny Rzeznik, Cheap Trick, and Alice Cooper. With Williams Honor, she is part of a band with charting singles at country radio and an opening slot at Madison Square Garden with Bon Jovi. This performance celebrates timeless songwriting and the family legacy that helped shape her voice.

This event spotlights Jersey City visual artist Jin Jung, born in 1981 in Seoul. Her practice blends historical and scientific research with personal stories to bring forward overlooked histories through grassroots community outreach, taking shape as social sculpture, video, and performance. She holds a BFA and a BArch from the Rhode Island School of Design and a master’s degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In 2021 she launched WERE HERE JC, a collaborative project that crafts handmade plaques to share local histories across Jersey City. Since 2024 she has served as an adjunct instructor at New Jersey City University. Her recognitions include a 2024–2025 commission through the Community-Based Art Grant Program funded by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection’s Coastal Management Program, a 2022 fellowship from the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and Individual Artist Fellowships from the Jersey City Arts Council in 2022 and 2025. WERE HERE JC has also been honored with the Jersey City Arts Council’s Public Art Award in 2022 and the Theodore Conrad Preservationist Award from the Jersey City Landmarks Conservancy in 2023.
