Celebrate the Summer Solstice with a hands-on ritual in the Calgo Gardens greenhouse. Create a small botanical pouch attuned to the season while moving through meditation, reflection, and creative practice. The solstice signals a bright seasonal shift and a moment to pause with purpose. Participants are led through a grounding meditation and gentle intention setting to clarify how they want to move through the coming months. Then they hand print a fabric pouch with seasonal symbols and nature-inspired designs, pressing ink into cloth as a simple ritual. Each pouch is then filled with summer plants chosen to support the transition into the sunlit months and to serve as a personal reminder of intentions. The gathering encourages slowing down, reconnecting with nature’s rhythms, and making something meaningful by hand. All materials are included, and no art background is needed. This experience is open to everyone. Wear clothing that can get inky or bring an apron or smock. Facilitated by Mary Gambarony and Kim Bradle. Mary is a licensed, board-certified art therapist, a certified Jungian life coach, and an artist with more than three decades of experience helping individuals, groups, and organizations use creative expression for healing, growth, and meaningful change. Kim has more than twenty years of study, practice, and teaching in Yoga, Meditation, and Mindfulness, offering embodiment practices rooted in the Yogic tradition while weaving in ritual and plant wisdom to cultivate awareness of the sacred in everyday life.

Long Branch Ocean Swim | Saturday - June 20 (6am)
Take on an open water session at Long Branch Beach in Pier Village guided by Coach Brian Shea. Swimmers follow a buoy-marked loop of roughly 500 meters just offshore, creating a practical setting to practice sighting and navigation. The session welcomes athletes who can confidently swim more than 500 yards unassisted in deep water, and you can cover as much or as little distance as you like within the session. For safety, at least two lifeguards will be in the water on rescue boards or kayaks. Water temperatures are typically in the mid-50s to mid-60s Fahrenheit, so a wetsuit is recommended if you are sensitive to cold. Wetsuit rentals are available and billed at $25 per day. The swim may be canceled if ocean or weather conditions are unsafe. Metered parking is available around Pier Village. A suggested donation of $10 per swim, or three swims for $20, helps cover lifeguards and equipment, with a labeled canister on the lifeguard stand at the meeting point. Meet at the lifeguard stand at Pier Village. If you are new to open water, beginner clinics are available to help build confidence. Coach Brian brings decades of experience as an athlete, coach, and consultant. He founded Jersey Shore Masters and has competed from 5K through ultra-distance events and Ironman, including Hawaii, with personal bests of 15:54 for 5K, 2:49 for the marathon, and 9:31 for Ironman. His results include multiple top-ten finishes at the 8-mile Swim for Alligator Light and podiums at the United States Lifesaving Association National Championships. He is a certified coach who has developed training and sports nutrition plans for athletes from beginners to professionals.

Build confidence in the ocean with a beginner-friendly swim clinic at Pier Village in Long Branch. Pre-registration is required and space is limited, so email Coach Brian at Brian@JSMswim.com to confirm a spot or ask questions. The session starts with a brief shoreline overview of open water basics, then moves into the surf to practice skills along a buoy-marked course set roughly 40 to 50 yards apart. Close supervision is provided with lifeguards in the water alongside Coach Brian. The route is about 150 yards and is typically repeated, so participants should already be able to swim at least 150 yards continuously in a pool without touching the bottom or wall. A suggested donation of $20 supports lifeguards and equipment, with contributions collected in a labeled canister at the lifeguard stand where the group meets. Wetsuits are strongly encouraged due to cool water temperatures, and rentals are available for $25 per day; include your height, weight, and the day you need the suit, and try to arrange it at least 48 hours in advance. The clinic welcomes all genders and a range of abilities, focusing on core open water skills to ease first-race nerves and prepare swimmers for local ocean swims and upcoming events. Metered parking is available in and around Pier Village. The clinic is led by Brian Shea, head coach and founder of Jersey Shore Masters, an experienced endurance athlete and certified coach with multiple Ironman finishes, top ten results at the nine-mile Swim for Alligator Light, and podium placements at the United States Lifesaving Association National Championships.

Raised in Puerto Rico, he discovered parallel passions for guitar and baseball as a child, studied at the Escuela Libre de Música, and became a highly regarded young prospect. The New York Yankees signed him and he later made his Major League debut, beginning a 16-year career that included four World Series championships. After retiring from baseball, he returned to music, releasing two albums and writing Rhythms of the Game: The Link Between Music and Athletic Performance. At the Stone Pony, he shares a perspective shaped by excellence in two fields and a lifelong love of melody and rhythm.

Runners and walkers can take part in the Red Bank Classic 5K, along with a separate Kids Fun Run. The race is USATF sanctioned and takes place on a certified course. Adult entry is $40 and kids entry is $20, with late registration increasing to $45 for adults and $25 for kids. Adult registration includes a finisher medal and race shirt, free activities downtown, entry to the official after-parties, and a signature sports bag for the first 1,000 registered runners. Kids registration includes a finisher medal and race T-shirt. Teams are welcome in the 5K competition, and participants may fundraise as groups or individuals to support local programs. At Tulip Tree Café and In Bloom at Calgo Gardens, this summer series pairs garden gatherings with hands-on cooking to honor heirloom kitchen traditions and peak-season produce. Each session starts among the beds with an educational conversation and guided harvesting of fresh herbs and vegetables, then moves to the café kitchen for a workshop that turns those ingredients into flavorful dishes. Topics span the season, with classes on herb-infused oils and vinegars, fresh garden pesto, salsa and gazpacho, corn chowder and cowboy caviar, stuffed peppers with roasted pepper soup, and baba ganoush with stuffed eggplant. Every class includes step-by-step instruction, recipes and tastings, and a take-home creation, along with time devoted to connection and inspiration. The cost is $115 per class and space is limited. An open water training swim off the beach at Pier Village in Long Branch invites capable swimmers to practice on a buoy-marked loop in the ocean. The session is led by Coach Brian Shea, an experienced endurance athlete and certified coach with a long history in triathlon and open water competition. Swimmers should be able to cover more than 500 yards unassisted and feel comfortable in deep water over distances exceeding 400 meters without stopping. The loop is approximately 500 meters and is set close to shore to help practice sighting and navigation. Participants may complete as many loops as they choose within the session. Safety is prioritized with a guarded format that includes at least two lifeguards positioned in the water on a board or kayak. Water temperatures are expected to range from 50 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit, so wetsuits are strongly recommended for those who may be sensitive to cold. Wetsuit rentals are available for a fee. Meet at the lifeguard stand on the beach at Pier Village. Metered parking is available in and around Pier Village. A suggested donation of $10 per swim or three swims for $20 helps cover lifeguards and equipment, with a labeled canister on the beach for contributions. Check the event page for updates, as the swim may be canceled if weather or ocean conditions are unfavorable. Newcomers to open water are encouraged to start with a beginner clinic before taking part in this session.

Take part in an organized open water ocean swim off the beach at Pier Village in Long Branch, led by coach Brian Shea. The session is intended for swimmers who can cover more than 500 yards unassisted and feel comfortable in deep water. The route follows an approximately 500 meter loop marked by buoys, creating a straightforward setting to practice sighting and navigation. You can swim as little or as much as you wish within an hour. Safety is a priority, with at least two lifeguards in the water on a board or kayak. Swimmers meet at the lifeguard stand on the beach at Pier Village, and metered parking is available nearby. A suggested donation of 10 dollars per swim, or three swims for 20 dollars, helps cover lifeguards and equipment, with contributions collected in a labeled canister at the lifeguard stand. Water temperatures often range from 55 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit, so a wetsuit may be useful for those who get cold. Wetsuit rentals are available and billed at 25 dollars per day; include your height, weight, and the date needed when arranging, and try to set this up well in advance. Although the swim is guarded, participants should be self sufficient and not require assistance except in emergencies. Those brand new to open water may wish to start with a beginner clinic. Plans may change if weather or ocean conditions are unfavorable, so check for updates beforehand. This coached open water ocean swim at Long Branch Beach in Pier Village is led by Coach Brian Shea and is designed for swimmers who can comfortably cover more than 500 yards without assistance. The course follows a roughly 500 meter buoyed loop that is ideal for practicing sighting and navigation. Participants may swim as much or as little as they like within a one hour session, provided they finish within that window. Safety is a priority with at least two lifeguards in the water on boards or kayaks. Meet at the lifeguard tower on the beach in Pier Village, and note that metered parking is available nearby. Plans may change if weather or ocean conditions are unfavorable, so please check for updates before heading out. Water temperatures are typically in the 60 to 70 degree Fahrenheit range, and a wetsuit is recommended if cooler water could be an issue. Wetsuit rentals are available for a daily fee, and requests should be arranged in advance with height, weight, and the date needed. All swimmers should be confident in deep water beyond 500 meters and able to complete the session without relying on lifeguard assistance. Those new to open water may wish to start with a beginner clinic offered by the organizers. A suggested donation of $10 per swim, or three swims for $20, helps cover lifeguards and equipment, with contributions collected at a labeled canister on the lifeguard stand. Coach Brian brings extensive experience as an athlete, coach, and consultant, is the founder and head coach of Jersey Shore Masters, has competed from 5K to ultradistance events and Ironman including Hawaii, and has earned multiple podiums at the United States Lifesaving Association National Championships along with numerous Top-10 finishes at the Annual Swim for Alligator Light.

Pre-registration is required and space is limited, so email Coach Brian to confirm a spot. These clinics aim to build confidence for weekly Long Branch ocean swims and local ocean-mile events. There is a suggested $20 cash donation to help cover equipment and lifeguard costs, and a labeled canister will be available at the lifeguard tower. The route follows a buoyed loop of roughly 500 meters just offshore, which is ideal for practicing sighting and navigation. You can complete as many or as few loops as you like, as long as the session stays within an hour. Safety is a priority, with at least two lifeguards monitoring from rescue boards or a kayak. Meet at the lifeguard stand on the Pier Village beach. Metered parking is available in the area. Please check for updates before heading out, as the swim may be canceled if weather or ocean conditions are unfavorable. Water temperatures often range from 60 to 70 F, so a wetsuit is recommended if you are sensitive to cooler water. Wetsuit rentals are available for $25 per day. Participants should be confident swimming more than 400 meters continuously in deep water and should not rely on lifeguard support except in emergencies. Bearly Dead brings its immersive celebration of the Grateful Dead to Wonder Bar as part of Asbury Jams, presenting a concert-style performance that journeys from the earliest recordings to the band’s final tours. The Boston-based quintet builds each night from a catalog of more than 250 songs, weaving favorites, deep cuts, b-sides, and exploratory jams into a set powered by dance-ready energy and top-tier musicianship. Launched in 2015 with a much-loved Wednesday night residency in Boston that drew multiple Boston Music Awards nominations, the group expanded to headline notable Massachusetts venues, became a fixture at Northeast festivals, and began touring nationally in 2022. Each show salutes every member of the Grateful Dead while leaning into spontaneous improvisation, so the experience is never the same twice. Admission is limited to guests 21 and over.

Stand-up comedian Juston McKinney takes the stage at The Vogel. He has been featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and with Conan O’Brien, along with numerous Comedy Central appearances that include a Comedy Central Presents half-hour and a one-hour special. His body of work features three hour-long specials on Amazon Prime, Parentally Challenged, On Mid-Life Support, and his fifth stand-up special, On the Bright Side, which is also on his YouTube channel with more than 1.3 million views. A Portsmouth, New Hampshire native who grew up along the New Hampshire and Maine border, he spent seven years as a deputy sheriff in rural Maine before moving to New York in the late 1990s to pursue stand-up, becoming a regular in the city’s clubs and earning praise from the New York Times. He has also appeared in a Showtime special with Rob Gronkowski, performed at TD Garden for Denis Leary’s Comics Come Home, and made TV and film appearances on The King of Queens, 100 Centre Street, The Zookeeper, and Here Comes the Boom.

Silver Manhattan, a musical guide to survival created by Jesse Malin with Lauren Ludwig, takes the stage at The Vogel on the Basie Center Campus. Directed by Ellie Heyman and produced by ArKtype and David Bason in partnership with Live Nation, Harper House Music Foundation, Peter Shapiro, Charley Ryan, and the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, the production shares Malin’s story of resilience, using humor and honesty to show how creativity helps weather hardship. The singer and songwriter has appeared at venues ranging from CBGB’s to Madison Square Garden and has collaborated with Bruce Springsteen, Lucinda Williams, Green Day, and others. In 2023 he experienced a rare spinal stroke that caused paralysis, and this work traces the effort to move forward through music, determination, and transcendence. The creative team features lighting design by Brian Scott and sound design by Angela Baughman, with music direction by Justin Craig and by Derek Cruz, who also performs on guitar and vocals. The band includes Rob Clores on keyboards and vocals, Paul Garisto on drums and vocals, James Cruz on bass and vocals, and horn players Danny Ray and Indofunk Satish, with Bree Sharp featured. Behind the scenes are production stage manager Aislinn Curry, live sound by Ben Foley, sound consultant Jason Crystal, sound associate Jesse Wilen, production assistants Liam Krivcov and Nathan, and publicity by Carla Parisi of Kid Media Logic.
