The Garden Club of Long Beach Island presents its annual Outdoor Living and Garden Tour on Long Beach Island. Festival of the Sea Carnival 2026 in LBI

The Festival of the Sea carnival heads back to LBI with five evenings designed for families. Part of the annual Festival of the Sea from Saint Francis of Assisi, this year’s edition is planned for later in the summer. Festivities will take place at St Francis Community Center.

Super Hero Storytime

This program features stories and a visit from a Wonderous Woman hero character. Every child will have the chance to meet the character and pose for a photo. It is intended for ages 0 to 12. Advance registration is requested. Sponsored by the Friends of the Berkeley Library.

Gilbert and Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore

Experience the classic Gilbert and Sullivan operetta H.M.S. Pinafore in a fully costumed and fully orchestrated production from Jersey Shore Light Opera. Onboard the good ship Pinafore, Captain Corcoran’s daughter, Josephine, loves the brave but low-ranking sailor Ralph Rackstraw, nicknamed Rafe, while her father favors a match with the well-born Sir Joseph, First Lord of the Admiralty. The captain faces a parallel predicament when his former nanny, Little Buttercup, declares her feelings, and he hesitates because of social standing. Everything changes when Little Buttercup unveils a long-kept secret that turns the story around. This traditionally staged, newly produced presentation takes place on the main stage in Building 11A. Tickets are $35 for adults and $30 for seniors and students. Presented by Jersey Shore Light Opera, a veteran-managed, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) company dedicated to theater, musical performances, and arts education. The organization is nonsectarian and independent, rents rehearsal and office space from Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church, and aims to produce Gilbert and Sullivan, operetta, and Golden Age musicals each season while continuing to feature both union and non-union performers, with plans to add members of Actors’ Equity.

Summer Art Camp: Gamer Week

Summer Art Camp: Gamer Week encourages kids to step away from screens and use favorite games and characters, including options like Minecraft and Mario, as inspiration for original artwork. Across four consecutive days, participants work with a variety of media, from fired ceramics and clay to acrylics, wood, canvas, watercolors, and more. Every camper receives a T-shirt to tie dye. This drop-off experience is for children entering grades 1-5 in the 2026-2027 school year. Sibling discounts are available for students who live in the same household.

Explore clay in a four-day summer camp centered on wheel throwing and handbuilding. Designed for students who will be in grades 5 through 8, the sessions cover core techniques including wedging, centering on the wheel, slab building, glazing, and more. Sourdough Workshop for Beginners

At Point Pleasant Boro, Maria Santos, a local sourdough cottage baker, leads a hands-on workshop created for beginners and anyone wanting a refresher. Participants learn what a sourdough starter is, how to care for it, and each step of the baking process as Maria demonstrates and guides everyone through mixing, shaping, and baking. The class also covers equipment and different types of flour, with time for questions throughout. Each attendee receives a starter in a glass jar, a Sourdough Kit that includes a banneton basket, a lame, a bench scraper, a dough whisk, and a mixing bowl, plus a detailed student guide. You will bake a loaf during class and leave with dough in your basket to bake the next day. Ongoing support continues in Maria’s private sourdough groups for learning, conversation, and recipe sharing. Space is limited, so please contact the organizer by text or message to confirm availability before paying. If spots remain, payment can be sent via Zelle to 908-499-1511. The session concludes with a taste of freshly baked sourdough bread.

Summer Art Camp: Tiki Time Week

Children can immerse themselves in island-themed creativity during a four day summer art camp inspired by sandy shores, surf days, tropical flavor, and vivid wildlife. Projects lean into bold colors and an easygoing summer mood while using a range of mediums such as kiln-fired clay and ceramics, acrylic paint, wood, canvas, and watercolor. Each participant receives a T-shirt to customize with tie-dye. The camp follows a drop-off format for children only and is open to those entering grades one through five in the 2026 to 2027 school year. Discounts are available for siblings who live in the same household.

Agency Day

A community resource day at the Housing Center brings together several agencies to support attendees. Representatives from AHA (Affordable Housing Alliance), Ocean County Social Services, Family Promise, the Mental Health Association of NJ, LivWell Healthcare, and VNA Harm Reduction, along with additional organizations, will be on site to serve folks.
